These text messages were always brief and vague, but Alaska could only assume that it was her promotion. Judging by the list of recipients, it would be more accurate to say their promotions. At least there would be a couple familiar faces. Even sort of...friends.... Looking at you Fini and Milo and definitely not Finn
She showed up in her usual outfit, dyed hair and all with a matching scowl.

She was surprised in receiving a text message from Simon. And glancing at the other recipients made her even more confused. Unless... was this something to do with her promotion? At this thought, Fini decided that maybe she'd take some care in showing up on time and be ready for anything. Thankfully the message had come the night before so she was able to prepare for the morning. Especially considering that sleep was not her friend. And she kept waking, thinking she had been shot again.
When she arrived that morning - after informing Finn she was heading that way and would meet him there - the first person she discovered there was Alaska. The other trainee received a lazy smile and a wave. "Good morning." She yawned, stretching and glancing around.

As short as the text message might have been, it was still somehow full of authority, one that broached no room for question, though Finn had certainly learned his lesson on questioning authority by now. Probably. He arrived at the office promptly, barely giving the others a passing glance except for Fini, who he would stand near and even offer a smile, cold as it may be, briefly before standing to attention and awaiting instruction to give light on why they were all required at this early hour. Promotion had crossed his mind, but he knew better then to assume anything. Shoveling s**t for mini pet duty was just as likely in this place.

There were a few times before that Milo had received a short and to the point text message like this. This one, though, seemed like really important. Not like the others hadn't but just... there was something about it. And it got the Sun rather excited. Mission maybe? Maybe promotion?
- Wait, this text message was meant for him this time, right?
Either way, he was up the next morning as he always was but this time without his usual morning run since there just didn't seem to be room for that. (Still excited though!) And showed up at the appointed meeting place, coat and all, and gave all those a big smile and his usual little salute of greeting. "Mornin' guys!" He greeted. Oh look, familiar faces.
Oh huh, there were five of them, right? Was he thinking Power Ranger team? Yeah, he was totally thinking Power Ranger team.

Davey read the message with dread. His stomach twists in knots, almost as turbulent as Azrael's movements in his head. Sometimes, like now, he isn't sure if he's the one feeling nauseated or if it's Azrael making him feel that way.
~He's just another mud-crawler,~ Azrael says in the forceful tones of someone trying to convince himself. ~It's not as if he could possibly know I wanted to know how Merlin got a body back. Lucky b*****d.~
'I doubt it. I don't think he has the ability to actually read minds,' Davey is careful to think the response rather than risk mentioning Merlin aloud.
They both pause, considering. It's highly doubtful that H has somehow acquired telepathy. Doubtful, and yet... Neither of them were willing to say it was completely impossible. Life Division, and H, dabbled in some very strange things. Who knew what they'd experimented with.
'He probably just heard from Julie that I'm back,' Davey thinks. 'And just wants to-'
~Resume torturing his favourite victim?~ Azrael interrupts. ~I can get behind that.~
"Oh, thanks," Davey sighs aloud. Just what he needs, two voices niggling at him all day, one of them in his head.
He heads for H's office at 0545 hours, arriving early. It seems he isn't the only person to receive the summons. Or to arrive early, in hopes of giving H less to pick at them about.
He nods a greeting to the other four Hunters. "Good morning," he greets. He looks them over curiously. Unless H also a fondness for making their lives more difficult than usual for Hunters, there goes his theory of mental and verbal torture. That leaves all of them being in trouble, some sort of mission, or possibly... he's hesitant to even think it...
~Maybe you're finally moving up in the world, Davey. Only took you three years. Do you suppose these ones have learning deficiencies, too, or are they just much younger and newer than you?~

Simon and H were in quiet conversation as the summoned hunters trickled in, ignoring them entirely until they reached some sort of terse agreement. The doctor smiled at them, Simon did not. "Good morning, ducklings. We have several missions requiring one to five hunters." His eyes slid to Davey, and then added helpfully, "Fractions of hunters are also acceptable. It seems that Death is too caught up in destroying itself from within to handle certain affairs in the civilian world." He seemed particularly pleased with this. "All of these missions will require discretion and light touch." Simon gave them all a flat, unimpressed look, but passed out the folders, and explained, "The first mission will require you to blend as wait staff at private party and seek out what may be a runic weapon created outside Deus." He glanced at H who lifted his eyebrows and gestured for him to get on with it. "For the second mission, we've tracked down a source of what appears to be a FEAR-based drug. You'll be required to collect samples and capture the dealer for questioning. The third mission is acting as bodyguard for another hunter." "There is a promotion in this, should you perform adequately," the doctor's smile widened. Quote: As a group you've been given three missions! Your character only has to complete one in order to be promoted! You can do all three as a group though that may take a long a** time! You can also split the missions amongst yourselves! Once you've decided how your hunters will be grouped and which mission they'll be taking, quote me for the mission prompts!

She watched as everyone else began to arrive, crossing her arms since there was nothing better to do with them. Finn's arrival got a small smile in return and when he stood next to her, she gave his shoulder a little bump with her own before letting her gaze settle on Simon and H. The latter making her feel only a little bit of unease. Really, the doctor just creeped her out sometimes.
When the two before all of them finally turned to speak, she gave her full attention. And then frowned in slight confusion. Several missions? Although there may have been a slight twitch to her lips at mention of the Death divisions activities. Wait... civilian world? Did that mean...
Folder received Fini quickly skimmed through it. Yep. It did mean they were going to the human world. Another frown formed. "A Fear-based drug?" She repeated. Just for clarification. Because really, wasn't that just exactly what they needed? SIGH. As for the other two missions, she kept coming back to the first one. Private party, huh? She glanced sideways and spoke softly, "Wait staff? Private party? Tell me that doesn't sound... amusing."

Finn did his best to pretend that Fini hadn't just shoulder bumped him, shrugging his own shoulders slightly and taking a small step away from her because really they were in public and in front of superiors woman. He'd get her back later. It seemed that everyone that was meant to arrived was there, and Finn stood and very patiently listened to everything that was said, taking the folder when it was handed to him and flipping through it's contents. Each mission was considered, as he weighed the pro's and con's. Considering he was a moon, the third one should have been right up his ally but... Considering he was terrible at his job and would likely jump out of the way of a bullet instead of taking it, he decided he would happily leave that one up to somebody else. That just left investigating on the Fear drugs (that sounded like a lot of work, and foolishly dangerous as well. Finn wasn't a coward but he also didn't want to come out of this missing another body part), and the private party runic weapon seek. Finn pursed his lips. A promotion was, really, worth doing whatever he needed to do. He was about to say he would do any of them, whichever they decided to put him one, when Fini spoke to him, and he glanced back towards her. "Could be interesting I suppose." He closed his folder and looked towards the others in the room, his own decision made, hopefully, unless somebody else wanted it badly enough to argue. "We'll take the party." He waggled a finger between himself and Fini. "If anybody else wants in, fine with me." Everyone else I'd prefer to do the first mission if possible~ don't mind doing it in a group if somebody else wants in on it too!

She eyed Simon and H through narrowed eyes, her arms folded tightly across her chest. The corners of her lips twitched at the pet name. If there was a nickname she ever hated to be called, it was definitely that, but considering which mouth the name came out of she swallowed her anger and pride. The trainee could only raise an eyebrow at the mention of the death faction, but as they say—not my division.
“As delightful as waitressing would be—“ The twisted scowl on her lips indicated she had unpleasant part-time job memories. “—I think I’ll pass. Splitting up is more efficient anyways. I’ll take the drug dealer one. Guarding isn’t my niche.” Alaska propped a hand on her waist and looked to the last two with a silent, expectant stare.

Simon was about the only figure of authority that he was familiar with, seemed to be acting the same as what he remembered of him. But this seemed to be the fabled Doctor H - had he heard much about him? Wait, not a lot - and he didn't seem so terrible. Cheery maybe, though he wasn't sure about being called a duckling - seemed to be a condescending comment about that one guy though. But oh well.
He took the folder and sort of glossed over a few points of interest from each of the missions presented before them as they were thusly explained. And of course he could think of at least a few references to toku to each; spying, espionage, guarding someone important. Oh yeah, totally there. He had to smile even when it seemed his fantasy of a five man team thing going on was going up in smoke.
Splitting up seemed to be favored option. But that had been done as well, maybe they would cross paths or something along the way. "Mind if I join ya, Alaska?" Milo asked the female Sun as he snapped the folder closed. "Though, I could go either way, ya."

Davey resists the urge to rock back on his heels in surprise when it's confirmed that they're all here for possible promotions. That was honestly not what he was expecting. ... Though of course if he was up for a promotion it was going to be Dr H in charge of it. His jaw has been clenched tight since the barb about fractions of Hunters and he forces it loosen now. The sting lingers in his teeth.
~You're going to wind up white-haired, disabled and with dentures all before you're thirty if you're not careful,~ Azrael chortles.
Of course the Bitchblade finds Dr H amusing. Just Davey's luck, really.
Dr H explains the missions. Davey's gaze drops to his missing arm. "I don't think I'll really blend in as wait staff," he tells the other Hunters, who have already begun discussing their preferences. Thankfully two others are interested in that mission. Another two want to handle the drug dealer. It looks like he'll be the odd man out.
~Again,~ Azrael ever so helpfully points out. ~Good thing you got used to being alone, two years on your own and all.~
Davey frowns. 'Who was alone?' he asks absently. He'd had Azrael there the whole time.
He takes minimal notice of the flash of surprise in his head followed an almost-purr. "I'll take the bodyguard position, then," he's busy telling the others. It would have been nice to work with some of the others, but he supposes there's at least another Hunter involved in the bodyguard scenario, so he won't be alone. Not that that's really possible with someone else in his head.

The doctor laughed, "Oh, excellent. A truly armed guard! Dwight should be in skilled hands with you." H gave Davey a faux apologetic look but didn't bother correcting the plural out loud. He didn't need to. Solemn-faced, Simon nodded, "Civilian clothing required to blend will be sent to your rooms. Do not damage them. They are part of the Sun Division's collection." The light glinted menacingly off his glasses as he said this, this assistant's fingers curling as if he was thinking of summoning his guns. Flapping a hand, the doctor shoo'd them out. "Get a good night's rest, ducklings."
