Lexia was the only child born to a hardworking couple. Her parents knew of the Veil's existence despite the family's lack of any magical abilities, so she has lived her entire life in Janhall, a fact that she very much despises. Growing up as the only human child in the town, she was picked on by her classmates for years. She felt helpless and never felt able to confide in her family or teachers. When she turned twelve, however, she met a boy on her family's vacation to Egypt. Robert, who was younger than herself and far more street smart. Despite her usual reserved nature, he became a confident to her. They exchanged stories of who they were, keeping in touch even when her family returned to Janhall. They exchanged emails and phone calls until three years later, Robert surprised Lexia by moving to Janhall. The two have been inseparable ever since. He even teaches her how to fight, both with her fists and a knife. In return, she shows him how to fire handguns and track.
Robert knows very little about his biological parents, but it is a fact that he was abandoned on the doorsteps of an orphanage just hours after his birth. Assuming that his parents were too poor to care for him, as most families in his home town were, the orphanage added him to the list of children that had to be sheltered, clothed, and fed. It was a crowded upbringing, and he had been an easy target for bullies when he was younger, but by the time he turned ten he was an accomplished street fighter. Robert rarely lets anyone tease him, as his temper can flare at the slightest indication. He never expected to get along with anybody, especially not some tourist girl from a family that could actually afford a vacation. Still, he sat with her for hours during her trip and realized that they had plenty in common including their fear of supernatural beings, making the next few years much easier to live through. Since he had no true family of his own, he worked to earn money for a flight to Janhall, and managed to do so after three years.
Once Robert moved to Janhall, he found work in the town, earning enough money to live in his own place. It only took half a year for Lexia to join him, as her relationship with her parents had completed dissolved by her sixteenth birthday. It always seemed like a waste to Robert, who had always wondered what it was like to have a parent's love. Still, he found love in her, and while it may be a difficult road they've chosen, they endure together. They still train and spare daily, neither wanting to be the weak children they once were.
