It didn't matter whether or not people wanted to avoid involving children in the war because one way or another they always ended up involved. Hypnos could avoid powering up but what good did that do her now? Youma would still attack her, and in her absence she might not be able to help anyone. She was a veteran senshi now, part of the war for over four years now. She stood tall as an eternal senshi but it didn't make the war any less depressing. She had been trying to change things for so long now and yet everything remained.
Order? Alignment? It had done nothing for her lately.
Her fuku was a mess after a previous encounter and so Hypnos was standing in front of a mirror, fixing one of the braids of hair that had become unbraided during the events of the night. It might not have been the most important thing for a senshi to consider but she wanted to look presentable when she met new friends. If she looked like a slob, that could change the course of the whole night!

Remarque was a busy man; while he certainly enjoyed preening in his spare time, he didn't have the luxury tonight. Already he'd spent a good portion of the evening making his rounds, partly in Mirrorspace and partly in Destiny City. He'd had one run-in with a youma, and while he had grown only slightly more tolerant of them, tonight was apparently the wrong night for it to get in his way.
He was still coming down from the adrenaline rush of chasing it, but he couldn't go home with his heart pounding like this. He had intended to walk it off—outside of Mirrorspace.
Which is why the Mirror in front of Hypnos had suddenly rippled.
A burst of color followed shortly after, and Remarque nearly walked right out into the girl. He managed to stop only a few good inches away from her, and though he was surprised he only showed it by focusing his eyes on her and blinking.
It took a second to recognize her; the last time he'd seen her, she had seemed a little different. "Hypnos," he blurted, glad he'd recognized her before he shot off on some tirade about maybe not standing in people's way.
His first reaction was to ask why she wasn't in bed—she certainly looked the part—but he figured he'd used that line on enough chibis already. Besides, he didn't have any idea what time it was. Hell, maybe she didn't even have a curfew? He was terrible at judging how old these chibis were. Maybe she was like ten or something, or maybe older, he didn't know. But someone ought to have noticed their kid was gone. At least he had an excuse now; his mother would have caught him if he'd been out doing this ten years ago. He lingered in the frame of the mirror, unable to step out more without needing the girl to move. He didn't want to push her, so instead he remained half veiled behind the rippling mirror and asked, "What are you doing?"

With her attention split, the rippling in the mirror hadn't quite caught her attention. She hadn't been expecting anyone, not sensing any power signatures around, and so when she heard Remarque's voice through the mirror, the senshi of sleep jumped visibly. Immediately after, her body jumped back, her eyes went forward and then her body relaxed again. She couldn't remember his name, unfortunately, but she recognized his face. Sort of. Maybe?
She felt a little bad but it had been a long time since they'd last met.
"Oh, please excuse me," she said politely, making enough room for him to pass through.
Whatever progress she had made on her hair had been quickly taken away from her sudden movements from Remarque's appearance. She could feel the knots that had found their way into her hair from the night through her thin fingers as she slid her hands through her hand again, tucking the loose hair behind her ears as she looked up at Remarque with a bit of disappointment.
"I do apologize. I recognize you, but I'm afraid through time I've forgotten the name that goes with your face."
Kyuseisha no Hikari PLEASE EXCUSE ME AS WELL. THIS TOOK SO LONG. QwQ

For a few seconds, Remarque looked at her. His brows were knit with curiosity, but he couldn't quite place what bothered him more—the fact that she had forgotten his name, or that she was so young and looked so old.
Not in the wrinkles and hobbling type of way, but in the way that she seemed different from most of the other children he met—the way that made her stick out.
But then, she'd been doing this for a while, hadn't she? An eternal chibi had to have been around the block. He had coped well with coming into power, but kids….
The things that happened when you were a child shaped who you were going to become, and Remarque wondered how much of her childhood she'd lost out on because some cat had awakened her.
"It's fine. It's Remarque, though." He stepped away from the mirror, though didn't make any effort to leave. Instead, he just made sure she still had a clear view of the mirror so she could continue whatever preening she'd been engaged in.
He could have left right then, maybe after some snide comment about how she shouldn’t forget his name and next time he wouldn’t be so forgiving. But, he wasn't feeling it. Instead, he planted his hands on his hips and leaned back a bit. "You all right?"
Appeal I am so sorry this took so long!
