Vollerei was reminded once more why she'd not come back to the isles in so many months. It was too packed! Too many people that made snide comments about the amount of food she ate and the cliques that she never fit into. Growling under her breath she strode away from Amara, her kinfa companion Zweil flying above her. She was going to go hunt and eat something large and tasty and then come back and gorge herself again! Just to snub all those petite girls with their too small bodies!
Her family had been happy to see her, though a little shocked at how much she'd grown and the scars and weapon she carried. Säure her more warrior like mother was very pleased; their other daughter was far too sweet and gentle and hadn't amounted to too much fight wise. Which was the bright spot in this visit to Vollerei, she was quite happy to see that it had brought her closer to her mother, who she outweighed and stood a few fingers above now.
But happy spot bsides, the others were too prickly and seemed to want to start something. Must be them all worried about losing the war, she thought with shake of her head. Silly peoples. Once in the jungle she swung herself up skillfully into the trees; it was time to hunt.

Niabi was lost in thought once again. Since her trials to become a blade she had shirked away from everyone, hiding herself in the forest and thinking. It was a lot of thinking and a lot of being alone, though she wouldn't say she was lonely. There was to much movement and noise in the forest to say it was lonely. To be honest, she was nearly always on edge. Every sound, every shadow, anything at all could mean more of those bug men could be hiding somewhere. She thought that staying on the island was about the only place that was still remotely safe.
She sighed and stood from her position in the trees. Her bow was strung across her shoulders, nestling into the spot it had remained in for the past week. She never let it leave her side now. Funny how things changed with time. The others had gone to fight a war while she was left here to think. And brood. She would be lying if she thought that she wasn't sulking around a little.
A noise in the forest had her ear twitching and without much thought she pressed her back against the sold trunk behind her, her arm already pulling the muscles necessary to make the reach for her bow. But it was just another Sister. Niabi guessed that she could only hide from the others for so long. "Hello there." She forced her muscles to relax and tried to smile, though it probably didn't look like much to the other.

Vollerei was shaken out of her hunting mode by the voice. She had been too into looking for creatures to eat that she'd missed the other Alkidike though Zweil had. With a disgruntle ruffle of his wings, he landed and waited for his mommy to finish chatting so he could get to hunting and feeding.
"Hello there." She said with a smile. The other looked a little down, the smile wasn't very much a smile. "You don't look so happy." She said bluntly as she relaxed and leaned against her spear. This sister was about her age, though no where near her size.

Niabi exhaled and felt her muscles relax naturally now. The way this Sister carried herself, it was soothing. And she was large. Much larger than Niabi. She thought that it should be intimidating, an Alkidike Sister that seemed to loom over her, but she also had a spear with her, which meant that she was probably more comfortable with hunting than Niabi was and was something that at this moment Niabi appreciated.
"I suppose I don't." She moved away from her spot close to the trunk and sat on the limb she was on. "I... haven't had much of a good month to say the least." She said the words slowly, not really knowing how to say it without betraying all of her feelings. "You're out hunting alone?" She didn't know if this Sister was actually hunting, but it seemed like one of the only conclusions. She was moving as if she had a purpose before she stopped for Niabi. "Would you... like some company?"

Month she said, which meant it was the war plus something else. I can understand that. "Sure, if you don't mind accompanying me. I could use some friendly chatter." People being people and idiots back home... The war and its aftermath were making people too snippy.. and Volle wanted time away from the snippy so she wouldn't lash out. This one seemed more quiet than snippy... so it would be an improvement! And maybe a friend. I could use another one other than Jerarda or Liro. "I'm Vollerei. Or Volle if you want." She offered her hand to shake. A thought occurred to her. "You any good at cooking?" She herself was a decent cook.. but she was always on the look out for other cooks who could be convinced to make her something new and tasty.

Niabi smiled to Vollerei, this time a genuine smile of friendliness. "Friendly chatter sounds like a better plan right now than... well whatever this is." Perhaps having a friend right now would take her mind off of the horrible things that had happened to her what felt like just days ago. She shook her head of the thoughts and tugged on her bow, making sure her equipment was secure and ready for travel. No doubt they would need to keep moving through the trees to track anything.
"Niabi. Nice to meet you, Sister." She returned the hand shake with more confidence than she had felt in most of her life, but was cut short by Vollerei's next question. She chewed on her lip, a little disappointed that she didn't have a better answer for her Sister. "... Well I'm not I'm afraid."
"Did you want to begin with some food then, before we hunt?" Or maybe her Sister was more interested in cooking whatever it is they caught on their trip out.

Vollerei waved her hand at the others offer to eat food before. "Oh no! I was just wondering is all; I like eating other people's cooking and learning new recipes so that's why I asked. I ate before I left so I'll be good till after the hunt." She grinned; she'd brought snacks in case the hunt went on too long. If there was one thing she always brought with her, it was her bag of snacks and the small bag that held some. "You should learn to cook! Then you can feed me." She laughed as she started into the the trees to go hunt.
"I can teach you if you're interested? If you ever get lost somewhere knowing how to cook is helpful. uncooked meat is ikky." But she'd eat it if she had too. But cooked meat, even without spices, was infinitely better!

Niabi smiled to Vollerei. She just seemed to throw off a warmth around her that made it comfortable to just be. Niabi wasn't sure she had met anyone like that in her life yet besides this Sister.
She shook her head, cooking had never been her strong suit. "...It's not from lack of trying I think." She gave a half-hearted laugh and motioned some form of strange cooking gesture. "I burn everything I touch." She turned toward the forest, looking around for any sign of a hunt, whatever that may be. She wasn't too familiar with what tracking would look like. "I'm sure you couldn't hurt my cooking skills though. After we're done, you can show me how?"
She was excited at the prospect now. She wasn't used to her own kin accepting her as a person, but Vollerei seemed to be doing just fine. Maybe her problem was that she wasn't raised on the island. "Should we start then?" She grinned to her friend.

Short tag is short sorry....
Vollerei chuckled and shook her head. "Burn everything? My goodness! I'll definitely have to try and show you some tips!" She wrinkled her nose at the other girl. "Can't believe there's people who can burn everything! And lead on." She waved her hand with a smile. "I'll follow your lead for this hunt,"

Niabi laughed nervously. "Don't blame me if we don't catch anything though, I've never been on a hunt before." She tugged on her hair once before turning to look into the forest. Which way should she go? She had no clue really, but she already made that painfully aware to Vollerei, so there wasn't really a reason to pretend to know best.
She hopped to a joining branch and led the way further into the forest. She did know that critters were spooked by sound... so she should probably whisper. "I think we can probably find something this way?" She whispered to Vollerei. She looked uncertain, but she continued to move forward. Chances were, if she just kept moving she would run into something.

"Never been on a hunt before?" Vollerei asked in surprise. "That's a surprise. My mothers had me out hunting when I was little.. probably cause I kept eating too much and they wanted me to feed myself." She chuckled as she followed Niabi. The other looked a little uncertain, which was understandable if she'd never hunted before!
"This way's as good as any," Volleri whispered back with an encouraging smile. "Just keep an eye out for tracks on the ground, scratches in the wood, or plants that look like they've been eaten. Those will help you figure out which animals have passed by here recently." Well, if the other had never hunted, then I'll give her some tips! But let her lead, that way she gets to do it herself instead of just watching!

Niabi smiled to Vollerei and nodded her head. It sounded like a good a plan as any to her. She looked around where they were, trying to see if there were any signs of animals. It was probably a better idea to return to the forest floor if she was going to be the one tracking.
She led Vollerei down the branches and trunks to the forest floor and in a few moments she found her first clue. "Tracks!" She whispered out in a rush. She looked to Vollerei as if she was seeking approval to continue on in the direction that they were pointing. "Do you think we're close?"

Vollerei followed Niabi surprisingly quiet for someone her size. But then she'd learned how to move quietly ever since childhood; silence meant she would get fed. Descending she noticed the tracks as well; oh good, something not too big but enough for a good sized snack for both of us.
"Looks fresh," she responded quietly after bending to look at it. "Before we head in, we'll need to go over some tactics or something. I tend to hunt from the trees, dropping down on top of my prey spear first. But then I've never had back up before." She whispered quietly, "Since you've got a bow, want me to circle around once we find it and scare it towards you so you have an easier shot at it? Or do you have a different idea?" Volle wasn't the best at hunting with others. She tended to go out alone so she would be able to eat all of the kill herself.

Niabi felt excitement tingle from her fingers in towards her arms. So she had never done this before, but she wasn't completely in over her head. But Vollerei's talk of tactics had her feeling like she was just treading water, barely keeping afloat. She didn't actually know what she was doing here. She swallowed hard and tried to keep the smile on her face, nodding to her new friend.
"That sounds like as good a plan as any. My aim isn't too bad." She tried to lightly joke. She felt the weight of responsibility pressing onto her chest. She would try her best not to let Vollerei down, she decided with determination. "We... should get into position then." She tried to give herself a silent pep talk, she needed to become stronger, this was why she came out here in the first place with Vollerei.

I is making up a herd beast name cause... spiky crystal bugs are not safe for Volle to land on XD And I'm not sure a single Alkidike would scare off a few Radaku.
Nizda: (pl nizdas) One of the few mammals that live within Chibale Island, the Nizda is a herd beast. With a long prehensile tail and six limbs tipped with a hand like paw, the Nizda is suited to living within the trees, though they can be found on the ground eating fallen fruits, seeds, or bugs. The second set of "arms" in the center is smaller and does not have claws, these are mostly used to hold young or food as they move. They have a set of crystal growths following their spine, with one large spike tipping its tail that it can use as a weapon. They are also equipped with a long claw on their hind legs; these they use to pry off hard shells of the Maglardilla or Wadana if they can catch them without being eaten first. When attacking larger prey, the Nizda usually use the lowest ranking member of their clan as bait and ambush anything that attacks it.
Is what I tossed to staff. It can be a one time use only if not accepted :3
Vollerei smiled at the other's joke. "Better than my aim probably! I tend to just jump off a branch and land on large prey. It usually works." She grinned and winked at Niabi. She did more than just land on things.. .but jumping from a distance to land on animals worked really well if it was large. If nothing else it stunned them while she killed them if the impact didn't kill them outright.
"You'll do fine." Vollerei said softly as she patted the other's back, having noticed Niabi was looking sort of nervous. With that, she left to go circle around the sounds of animals ahead. She'd kill one and drive the rest towards Niabi, that ought to insure at least one kill, and hopefully Niabi made a kill as well... It looked like the girl needed a confidence boost!
She smiled as she spotted the clan of Nizda in the clearing. They were just finishing up eating too, most of them sitting about on lower branches grooming. Good, these should spook better than some of the other creatures. Though be harder targets to hit, she thought to herself, they are fast after all. But she's an archer, so she should be able to hit one.
She took a breath as she perched on a branch above a few of the Nida. They'd either charge her or flee. Both she could deal with.. but it'd be rather embarrassing if they charged instead... She shrugged and silently dropped down, her spear already launching from her hand towards the furry creature. It hit with a thud, the shaft trembling as it went through and lodged itself into the branch. She landed with a yell, and the Nizda, full and not willing to take on something Vollerei's size over an empty clearing, dashed off away from her, chattering angrily with many hoots and screeches. She hoped Niabi would realize that was her calling and be ready for them.
