Where was the fun, the excitement!? Her last encounter wasn't very pleasant, the pink tiger mare had really done a number on her tail, represented by the swollen lump at the end of it. She had waited out the storm once she managed to escape the psychotic mare and then found a stream to soak in and clean off. There was still clumps of crusted mud clinging to her coat but she accepted that she wasn't going to get it all off, nor did she care to. Little things like that didn't bother her, even being coated in mud had it's charm. Unfortunately it wasn't very comfortable when it was dry and if it wasn't for that fact then she would be covered in it everyday, all day long!

Her spirits, despite being battered and bruised, hadn't dampened. The thought of being covered in mud gave her the idea that one day she should roll in it until she was dripping and find somewhere to camp for a few days. Jumping out and scaring the locals whenever they wandered by. Word of a monster would fly around and she would be famous... Sort of. Quick to dismiss it, her attention turned to a surprising cry, followed by a ripple. Narrowing her head, her gaze settled on her stomach and she let out one of the most exaggerated sighs.

Food. The one thing that hadn't crossed her mind. What was she in the mood for? Grass was boring, it was green and... Everywhere. In fact if she could scratch every single blade of green from existence then that would be her life long mission. She didn't have one of those, she didn't even know where she would start thinking up what she would do. Some people were born to be important and she was born to avoid all that gibberish. Instead, she would search for what she fancied. Berries, fruit? Both were tempting and delicious, now all she would have to do is search for it. If she could last that long...

Turning from the rocky road she was travelling she headed in to the forest. Unlike the other day when the storm was wailing, angry and lashing at whatever it could get it's hands on, the sky was now clear and the sun, blazing. It was enjoyable, good day for a party either by the beach or a waterfall. She could go for both, only after she found something to sink her teeth in to.

If Mardi were given to pouting, she would be in full-bore pouting mode right now. She had been so hopeful, so optimistic about her chances of finally, finally breaking out of her boredom rut, only to have yet another hope crash and burn. She had started out on the beach, but there had been no one of interest in that region; just some broody, uninteresting families. So she had wandered up along one of the rivers towards the great lake, passing through the plains. But instead of finding fun and interesting people, she had found ash and depression.

Not that she couldn't blame the Soquili there for being depressed; their homes had been destroyed, after all, and maybe even some of their friends and/or family killed! That was what she'd tried to tell herself, anyway; what other justification could there be for the whole region being such a buzzkill? She had been appropriately respectful, but had hightailed it out of that region of doom and gloom as quickly as her hooves would carry her.

So she had moved past the charred plains, heading north into the wood instead. Mardi wasn't holding her breath for much change; after all, what was the chance of finding a party among so many trees? How was a party even to find each other, let alone actually have the room to romp and do fun things! But anywhere had to be preferable to lingering in the Plains and watching the Soquili there, with their drawn faces and pinched expressions. She had to go somewhere, and the forest was the most convenient somewhere.

If this didn't work out, there was always the mountains...

The wood wasn't giving up it's glorious food easily. After rummaging through bushes and snagging her mane on several twigs she thought that would be enough to make her give in to the hunger and settle for the green that plagued the land;the little blades of grass she happily crushed beneath her hooves with every step she took! Only then did she not see the over hanging branches and within a blind second of sunlight catching her eyes, she walked head on in to the thick lump, her horn skewering it's body.

Letting out the most awkward squeal made up of surprise and panic, she immediately tried to juggle her body weight on her two back legs, rearing with what room she had to work with. Hooves digging deep in to the ground, she moved her head in a small wiggle motion to met with a painful shock. Snorting, she landed on all fours again and stopped moving altogether. She was stuck, completely and utterly stuck. It wouldn't have been so bad if someone had been there to witness the incident, to have laughed at how clumsy and silly she must have been to have gotten stuck in such an awkward place but there was nothing... Just her and the silence.

What was she going to do? "This is just perfeeeeect!" She sang to no one in particular. If anyone was around it was only small critters, at least that's what she thought. She hadn't spied a soul so far and for someone to walk around the corner right now, would be miracle work. Slipping her uni tail across the ground in a mild sweep of irritation she sighed and gave the world around her a helpless gaze. She was sure it would work itself undone eventually...

Mardi had been ambling along through the trees, her low expectations for socialization in the woods becoming even lower with each additional step. There were plenty of birds and small forest creatures, but there were no Soquili, and not even any of the more intelligent forest creatures one could actually have a conversation with. It was dull, dull, dull, and Mardi had never been one to try to find entertainment in things such as scenery. As far as she was concerned, surroundings were to set the scene, not to BE the scene.

She was trying to keep her spirits high, though, and in spite of her sinking hopes, her step remained energetic and her smile wide and alert. There had to be something out here worth her time; hell, there had to be something in the whole land worth her time...

She was musing on that all important thought when she heard it, the sound of a voice. She had gotten so used to hearing nothing but her own thoughts that she almost missed it, or chalked it up to her own overactive imagination. Still, after less than a moment of contemplation the full impact of the voice hit her, and she let out a crow of delight. Perfect?

"This certainly is perfect," She called out gaily as she bounded towards the voice. It didn't matter what the other Soquili was talking about, now that there was someone else to talk to! Though she had to admit, as she burst through the trees and saw the poor stuck mare, that perfect might be an interest description. At the sight of the mare, she skittered to a stop, taking in it all, then burst out into merry laughter. "Wow, you're really hung up there, aren't you?"

"Talk about dumb luck." Leesa muttered to herself. She had been doing this since her horn got stuck and in the process had started to feel sorry for herself. "The idiot mare that got her horn stuck in a branch and withered away and died of starvation. NOT how I planned to go out..." She sighed. "No bang, wallop, just off with the wind."

With her endless chatter and consuming thoughts, she didn't notice the other mare approaching, so when she laughed at her situation it came as quite the shock. Jumping from her hooves with eyes wide, they searched frantically for a body and when strained at their corners they found the brightest little dumpling there ever was.

It took a moment to sink in but Leesa was thrilled to see somebody else, that her miracle was here in the form of another soquili. She grinned, a tinge of pink catching her cheeks. "Ooooh, what gave you that idea?" She gushed, giving a little giggle.

"I was thinking I may go to waste, I would make a wonderful pinata, don't you think?"

They had yet to properly 'meet' each other, in the sense they hadn't yet exchanged names. However, Mardi was already beaming, certain that she was going to like this mare who had already provided more interest to the day than she'd experienced in her last week. What wasn't to like about a mare who could laugh and make jokes while stuck in a tree?

"Well, you definitely have the pose down, but I think I'd make a better pinata from a color standpoint. Somehow, pinatas seem like they'd be best in bright florescent colors," Mardi said with a laugh. "So, since you're not up to the color requirements of the job, how about we just take you down and let you resume your pinata duties after you've had a bath in some dye?"

Grinning, Mardi walked around the tree to get a better look at the mare and her stuck horn, feeling a bit admiring at just how firmly she'd gotten herself wedged in. "Impressive! Did you run into the tree to get it stuck like that? What do you think is the best way to go about reversing the process? Whatever it is, I'm here to help! I can't stand seeing a wasted pinata," she finished with a grin.

"Can you say that... One... More... Time?" Leesa asked, her head turning a slow semi-circle till her eyes were wide with wonder, portraying the magnificence of a child's innocence and an over-active imagination. Painting a picture of a liquid pool swirling with colours of the rainbow, bubbling like acid, waiting to swallow her whole and leaving no trace of her navy coat and storm related etchings. She could be someone else, a true piñata, a party piece of the ages and this mare could be stood by her side, a sister, a partner in crime, a teacher of the arts... The possibilities were endless and all a result she would be satisfied with if that is what her, no - their, life would be. She didn't doubt that the other mare would be the one handing out the bat waiting till she was bashed, and somehow defying the boundaries of reality, exploding with candy apples and stuffed syrup pears for all to gorge on until they too exploded in to more candy or... Just until their teeth fell out with rot. They could make every face smile and every smile fill the air with choked laughter.

They had to get that dye. She had to be as bright as the mare standing by her now and they would be an unstoppable force as they marched across the kawani sucking everybody in to their infection of fun and happiness. She could see it, see it as clear as the branch that taunted her for being clumsy enough to end up stuck in it's grasp in the first place, it held her captive and wasn't about to ease it's grip. This was a hostage situation and she was being held ransom. The other mare was leading the rescue mission, playing negotiator. In this moment she explored the face of her captor, studying the ancient and foreign language of the forest that was engraved within the bark. The answer to her freedom was there but she didn't have the attention or the time to translate the wisdom of the forest and would relay her own answer to the problem to the mare.

"Beavers." She suggested and gave a firm nod to prove her confidence in what she believed to be a solid solution to this problem. "They could free me! I wouldn't have to consider losing half a horn if they could nibble me loose." She was afraid that she had pierced the branch too deeply for a broken horn to be avoidable. She would do what she had to even if it did mean losing her horn but only if it was an absolute must in order to be free. If the other mare held on to the branch while she pulled, there was a chance her horn could be pried off, or it could snap under the pressure. They could kick at it until a weak spot was created and the branch would eventually snap but that could take time and their bodies would subdue to aches and the possibility of pulling muscles was there. Then they were back to making a point that if a single hoof was thrown off target, it could accidentally collide with her horn and again, she may lose it.
