Roll an Eight: City Streets Field: Broken tar and faded yellow lines make up the “street” that runs down the exact center of the battle field. On either side of the road are sidewalks with pieces of concrete here and there. Fake building walls, complete with broken glass windows and grime lining the surface, limit the amount of maneuverable space on land. Trash cans and trash bags decorate the street. A sewer grate nearby continually pours a stream of fog into the air which, unfortunately, helps spread the horrible stench of the trash. This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to POISON type attacks.

Lenore covered her nose with her free hand as she walked into the foul smelling arena. Nelis'viel had insisted that she wanted to battle again, even though she had fainted in the last match, as well. Lenore supposed it wasn't her place to argue.
The ralts appeared on the street with a red flash and covered her nose.

While they were in town picking up some supplies, Kwatoko had wanted to take the chance to train a bit. He wanted to be able to protect his mate and trainer after all, and practice never hurt. He trotted into the field ahead of Anise, found he disliked the field but forced himself to ignore the smell. He could not let it distract him.

Kwatoko looked across the field to see who his opponent was. A Ralts? Psychic, then. He'd start with a simple offensive approach and see how she reacted. He circled the field a bit to draw closer and get a better feel for the terrain, then dashed forward to slash with claws cloaked in darkness.

Nelis'viel was unprepared for the sudden attack, and she was knocked backwards. Lenore called out a command as the ralts got to her feet. "Use Lucky Chant!"
The ralts began to chant quietly, and protective wards formed around her.

Kwatoko jumped back and watched his opponent. He had never heard of this attack, and it had no immediate visible effect to help him judge what do to about it. Perhaps a defensive move might be best.
He stood up straight, puffed out his chest, crossed his arms and looked down his beak at his opponent. Then he strutted around the Ralts, giving her a haughty glance now and then.

Nelis'viel wasn't sure what to make of the combusken's antics. Before she spent too much time thinking about it, however, Lenore called out another command. "Use Hypnosis!"
The ralts' eyes glowed slightly as she stared at Kwatoko silently.

Kwatoko's gaze was caught by the Ralt's glowing eyes, and he soon slumped to his knees, falling into a light doze.

Kwatoko jerked awake at Lenore's shout. Well, that was enough of that. He bounded to his feet and lunged at the Ralts again, his claws wreathed in a dark aura again.

Nel's eyes opened wide as the combusken flew at her again, slamming into the wall behind her. "Blind it with Dazzling Gleam!" The ralts' horns began to glow, and a flash of light illuminated the arena.

The bright light stung Kwatoko's eyes, and he fell into a defensive stance until his vision cleared. Then he lunged at the Ralts again.

Nelis'viel cried out from the combined pain of the slashes and the empathetic link. Sludge began to float up before swirling around Kwatoko, and the ralts collapsed, exhausted.
Lenore returned the ralts to her pokeball and left with a wave.

Kwatoko was standing ready for another attack, but was surprised when his opponent fainted suddenly instead. Over so soon? He hadn't thought he'd done nearly enough damage to make her faint. How odd. Nevertheless, he returned to Anise and left the stadium.
