The room: At first, everything is dull.
Then, the senses assault all at once, a strange hiss, the feeling of stale, clammy air hitting skin, strange noises, and the light, painfully bright.
It takes a good few minutes to adjust to the surroundings.
The only thing odd about the room itself were the strange assortment of man-sized pods, strange oval, futuristic even creations covered in glowing runes. Most of them remain closed, some of them have stopped glowing.
Everything is still a blur, vague memories closing in on each other. You made a promise to someone. You were promised escape - and then -
Nothing made sense.
Not in the past at least. As you finally step out of a strange shaped cylinder, you see something strapped to the side. It catches your eye because it has your name written on it. Your name. Age. Gender. Nothing else. You keep on walking, stumbling, hobbling. All the other pods are mostly closed. You finally hit the door. There is a bright red sign on it that is unavoidable.
PODS ARE UNDER MAINTENANCE. PLEASE APPROACH WITH CAUTION.
The door is locked, it seems for now, you are trapped inside this room. The panels are all sealed, it seems like whomever designed this room purposely did it to make it extremely, extremely dummy proof. OOC WELCOME TO DEUS EX: QUEST EDITION- Welcome to a special part of Deus Ex where ??? seems to be going on - it seems a certain event created a power surge on Deus, and has caused a lot of potential hunters to awake without the power of a weapon bond. These are HUNTER CANDIDATES aka: quest Hunters. Quest Hunters are basically Humans that were taken to Deus through recruitment ie: the "promise" and then put inside a pod. That is all they remember. They do not know why they are here. They do NOT get a weapon because this is a temporary energy that is allowing them to be awake. What they are allowed to do though is wander around, and maybe, maybe someone will take pity on them. That is until the sudden surge in power runs its course.. - If you are a quest Hunter from the Wonderland event, please post a reaction to the prompt above. You may now interact with anyone INSIDE this area. You do not need to get your quest approved! - If you are a quest Hunter NOT from the Wonderland, you will need to get your quest quickly approved. Please PM LIZBOT with a link to your quest Hunter. Once she has approved it you can start rping here. - A GM/ event should come shortly after some interaction - just hang tight in this thread for now! - This is a chance basically for all people who are unfamiliar with Deus to RP inside Deus and get an opportunity to see what RP as a Hunter is like! Anyone is free to make up a quest and follow the same rules! Once again Quest Hunters must stay in this room, they aren't considered Hunters more "candidates" and they don't have weapons/ know anything about Deus Ex! Basically they're people who have been asleep for a ???? period of time.

And at last, he was free. Wyatt’s senses returned to him all at once as a rude awakening from his dream. That’s what it was, wasn’t it? A dream? Surely that can’t be reality…but this? Where was this? He woke up in some form of pod, his information recorded: Wyatt McCoy Age 24 Male He couldn’t help but think of his dream – the replica inside its own case. What was going on here? He stepped out of the pod in a daze. The dream all felt so real – his death within it was still haunting him. He had allowed himself to die hoping for this very freedom, but what was he to do with it now? He explored the room filled with pods just like the one he awoke in, but any exits to the area were sealed off due to some kind of malfunction. “Hello?” he called out to anyone who may be near or listening. He had some questions to ask. “Anyone here?”

There wasn't any pain, which was weird because the last thing she remembered was having a spiked yoyo bigger than her fist stabbing her in the heart. Her memories are muzzy and the nagging sense of dread in the back of her mind pointed out that she can't move. She tried not to panic but instincts kicked in and her pulse jackhammers from the effort. There was a hiss of stale air, tinny beeping that could just as easily have been alarms buzzing to her disoriented ears, and finally light. Blinding, painful light that the woman could barely shield her eyes from even with her hands that she now finally had control over.
I will find you. The words had her stumbling out of the pod, landing ungracefully elbow first with a heavy thud. Pain spreads through her arm and she welcomed it, something familiar at last, although she can't help but note spinning wheels and asphalt were missing. Squinting to let her eyes adjust, she spotted something strapped to the side and moved in for a closer look.
Ligaya Sison delos Santos. 23. Female
It took her a moment to realize "Holy ********, that's me." And it occurred to her just how she felt so weak and so stiff, a body that remained immobile for so long. She decided to remedy that, rising to her feet to half hobble and half run to the door, pins and needles shoot up her leg, protesting the sudden movement but Joy ignored it.
There was a voice and she found she wasn't alone, "Hey, hey you, you came out of something like this too?"

Delia yawned, brows knitting as true memories collided with the ones borne from dream, frowning as they did. What was the last thing she remembered? A boat? A helicopter? A mad hatter? An AI? Delia Wren Butler Age 22 Female she stumbled out of the pod, heels clicking against the tile as she did, blinking almost owlishly as her eyes adjusted to the light. "Hi," she said, following the source of the voices, waving at them. Even with the memories of a dream with many players, neither of these two looked familiar.

(( Lydia Stiles - Approved by Liz )) There was nothing, and then out of nothing, there was suddenly everything all at once. Sounds, smells, feeling returning to her limbs. A hiss of air, and hazel eyes shot open, a loud gasp escaping from lungs as something fell open in front of her. Light, blindingly white bright, stung at her eyes, made her squint as she stumbled forward, and promptly fell to her knees with a loud smacking thud against the cold floor. "Oh, ohhhh owwwwwwww oww ow owwwwwwwwwieeee owwwwww!" She gritted her teeth and hissed in pain. "Ohhhh my goodness oh my goooosh owwwwwww." She went on, using her hands to ease herself into a crouching position on her feet, leaning back on her heels before reaching up to rub at her now quite sore kneecaps. With quite a bit more whimpering and an extra long, loud, snorting sniffle to tie it all off, Lydia finally looked up from her position, finally blinked around owlishly at her surroundings, and finally wondered, just where the heck she was! "Hello??" She called out, slowly pushing herself up into a standing position, though she still looked just a bit wobbly. Everything around her was blurry, and she found herself squinting again, while she struggled to remember why she would be waking up in such a strange place. Now scratching at one of her arms, she turned to see where she had come from, eyes landing on an odd contraption, and as her gaze roamed over it's strange contours, she found something that helped, but only slightly. Lydia Stiles 25 Female "OH! OH YA OKAY!" Her voice was perhaps just a touch too loud and excited as she turned back to the room, not really...talking to anybody just yet as she had not quite realized anybody else was also awake. Until, of course, she just then did notice. "HI! I'm Lydia!" She stumble clomped her way over towards the other three who were sort of seeming to be gathering together. "That's what the machine-y thingy says and that's who I am! Who are you guys?" She gave them each a bright smile. Despite the circumstances she seemed awfully cheerful and not at all put off by whatever situation they were currently in.

Joy counted two more faces appearing and introducing themselves, and so far none of them mentioned the name she was hoping for. But that was so no reason to be rude, yeah? "I'm Ligaya but ah, people call me Joy. Or Happy. Or Haps," she rambled, trying to maintain some form of coherency.
"Please tell me I'm not the only one thinking some really weird s**t is going down?" she tried to chuckle, tried to force a smile in spite of the anxiety rippling through her mind. Especially when you factored in the "Approach with Caution" message. Jesus Christ, how many of them were here?

"Er, hey there," Wyatt greeted to the three others that emerged. He cocked a brow to the cheerful girl. He was normally an upbeat person himself, but at the current moment he was more concerned whether or not he had been probed with something in his sleep. "Name's Wyatt," he offered with some hesitance. The situation was uncomfortable and made him want to give a fake name, but considering that his name was already written down in evidence in the room, there probably wasn't much use in that plan. "No. I was hoping that some of y'all would know what's going down here. I can't even remember how I got to this place."

A harassed looking woman in a white coat peaked into the room before hissing s**t, loudly and slamming it shut again. She opened it once more, mild hope on her face until she saw the scene before her had not changed. The door slammed shut once again.

And that would be the first thing Xi saw when she woke up. That woman got judged so hard. She wasn't even aware of where she was before she was already judging.
People were having a pow-wow and that was nice and all but they sounded dumb, but that was okay because all people were dumb. There was something about the brain using only 10% of its capacity, which was a lie by the way because people believed anything, but she was pretty sure it meant that she was just smarter than everyone else.
After a long lapse of silence - she had heard Wyatt and co's conversations but had summed it up to be small talk, she really couldn't take the stupidity any longer. "Just so you know," she began, because it was important to start conversations letting people know things they didn't know, "someone locked us in. It's a social experiment probably, and we're the-" she corrected herself -"you are the dependent variables." As if she would be grouped with them. OOC Anyone else.... apologies in advance

Delia gave the chipper girl a bit of a look. "The machine says you're Lydia," she said, slowly, narrowing her eyes. " Okay." the other female got another nod, since she seemed, well. Tolerable. "Delia," she said, not bothering to offer Wyatt-- or any of the others-- a hand in greeting, and instead stared at the woman unable to grasp her current reality and-- Wow. "Excuse you," Delia said, taken aback, "or we're here for a different reason, that doesn't involve bullshit sociology."

Joy nodded at the series of introductions, until it was briefly interrupted by the opening and the slamming of the door. Joy whipped her head towards the sound, saw the door open again and a face in the doorway. She raised a hand and opened her mouth to call out to the woman to wait a moment, only to have the door slammed shut again.
"Putang ina mo," she growled at the sealed exit before turning to stare at the woman who wasn't bothering to play nice. "The locked in part's pretty obvious but I gotta side with Delia on this," what the other woman said made more sense, "'Cuz if this is some sort of experiment, all this tech and gear makes me think mad scientist."

A voice, high strung and a little screechy, called though the door, "Screw you! This isn't a social experiment! Your mom's a social experiment!" There followed the soft, rhythmic thumping of someone banging their head against a door. "This isn't supposed to happen! There are things needed for you to be up! Go back into your pods!"

Joy? Or Happy? Lydia liked it, and latched on to that idea immediately, and offering the girl a wide smile combined with perpetually squinting eyes, "So like, Happy Happy, Joy Joy?" She then began to giggle, and slapped at one of her legs, before letting out a loud snort. She stopped abruptly straightening back up with a long sigh. "Oh goodness I am sorry! I'm sure this is all very alarming. I'm a little alarmed as well but...One of the last things I remember before waking up here is a dragon that tried to eat me." Her eyes lit up a little in excitement at that, "A helicopter crashing in an ocean and a man in a white hooded jacket...." She closed her eyes as she tried to remember him. "Oh but he was a handsome man, all ruuuggged and mysterious~ He had a very wolfish feel, like the elusive Amarok." She sighed dreamily, her thoughts drifting away on a pleasant stream where she and the hooded mystery man found themselves lost together on an island (one not full of terrible creatures goodness not again!), seeking shelter in a cave where they were forced to curl up together, naked, of course, to keep each other warm..... Her eyes suddenly snapped back open, and resumed squinting. "Oh well yes anyways, hello, Wyatt. Hello----" Her attention was not caught by any movement as she likely couldn't see that far away anyways, but by the sound of the door closing. She turned towards it, and, low and behold, there was another stranger! One that didn't speak to them all too kindly, but Lydia mentally shrugged that off. She was used to such treatment. "Oh I do love experiments, though I find that very unlikely, in this case." She gave her head a rapid shake, before clomping her way over towards the door. And that was when the shouting from the other side began. "Oooohhhhh Oh I know this one! Your face is a social experiment!" She retorted, clapping her hands together before leaning against the door, pressing her ear against it as though to listen to the thumping better. "May I ask, complete stranger that will probably have a headache later, before I go back into my pod, what is the current date?"

Melody had no idea where she was or what was going on, all she knew was there was a sudden massive rush and then assault of all her senses. It caused a breakdown at first and froze her in place but as it trickled forth her body began to slowly adjust.
She was awake.
She grasped the edge of her pod, what the ******** was this thing? An egg? A giant metal egg she determined with a nod. She pulled herself up and walked out with a stumble. She looked around to find even more and something was attached to all of them - even hers? She took it and read it over carefully, her fingertips caressing the words.
Melody Bell 18 Female
Ah, Melody... that's right... she put it back and began to stumble forth like a freshly born deer on wobbly thin legs. There were others and they all looked just as lost and trapped as she presently felt.
The dazed and slow scene was suddenly interrupted by a loud shout and an order to turn back. But, she was awake now? Why would they want them to go back in? "What things? Why?!" She called to the source. Humans, always wondering and thinking. Rarely accepting 'just 'cause' as an answer.
