PRP between Adalind Sangfroid (Angelique DelaMort) and Sonata Requiem (Gl!tch~) Adalind trotted through the high grass, marveling at how easily she could just duck down and become almost invisible. Her coloring was one of her greatest assets in this type of environment, her dark body blending in with the shadows and the pale markings on her face and back almost the color of the faded tall grass. The only things that gave her away were her eyes. Luminous and a brilliant blue, they were a startling feature - she knew this because she often startled family members from their sleep with them. Okay....mainly only one member of her family. She couldn't help it. Her papa was so silly when he was scared. And in the end he always ended up laughing with her.
But right now she wasn't really trying to scare anyone, well not Really. First she just wanted to see how well she could blend into the brush. At least the little that remained after the great fire had ebbed. It had been before her time, long before her parents found her and staying to the wooded paths as they did it hadn't really affected either. But the imprint, the scar, was left on the land nonetheless. Still, things had to move on - new lives, new days, new things to learn. And now... she thought crouching down into the deep grass as she saw a few stalks bend and flick back and forth as some unknown creature stalked through the tall plants. I'm going to learn how to pounce... The last time she has tried her gangly legs had managed to get all tangled up on her and she fell on her face, much to the amusement of the squirrel she had been stalking. Who's laughing now, fuzzball... she thought tensing her back legs.

In Sonny's mind, she was plodding about like a pro. But if anyone saw her, with her big ungainly wings and prehensile tail and all, wobbling on her foal's awkward gait and trying to shift this way and that to make up for the uneven weight distribution, she was anything but. Even so, she didn't even seem to notice how clumsy she was. Or how she had no chance creeping up on ANYthing. Her wings were constanly unfurled in a T formation, and with such a flair, only the deaf and blind of mice and squirrels wouldn't run as soon as she cast a shadow or let out another little noise when she would get caught or stumble.
It was fun to playing hide-n-seek, though! Even if Daddy wasn't really playing along, but...she sure could pretend! Maybe Rion would come home soon and she could play with HIM. Her mother was doting, her daddy tried really hard to be fun even though he was huge and had a hard time smiling, and while she had three siblings, she only had met one of them! So, her curiosity kept her from getting lonely or demanding.
As she peered through the grass, she flapped her wings and flicked her tail a bit. Mommy couldn't fly, so Sonny didn't know how to, either, and swimming was hard with her wings. Life was difficult, though she couldn't acknowledge the fact. Daddy would just tell her that she would get the hang of it, and she believed him. Practice makes perfect!
She started pushing through the grass the best she could. Maybe there would be a gopher hole or something! In the meantime, Sonny was completely unaware of anything else her size lurking about....

Adalind tilted her head in confusion as the form in the grass started to come into view. That's no squirrel, was her first thought taking in the unknown creature and relaxing her form just slightly. It was Waaaaaay to big to start with, second it had wings, large sweeping ones spread out at in attack formation, and a tail very similar to her sister's. But this little foal, because that's exactly what it was, couldn't have been out to attack anyone, not with all the noise she was making. Actually all that noise was probably scaring away any targets for her pouncing practice too....
Adalind sighed and resigned herself to changing her plans for the day. Besides, her curiosity was in the game now. And she just had to know. "What are you doing?" She asked pointedly of the other foal who was obliviously a few feet away from her at that point.

Hearing a voice, a NEW voice, a young one like her own, completely out of the blue, made Sonny jump straight up. "Whoa!" She looked around herself, then back, and, "Oh!"
It was like seeing a standing skeleton, at least from first glance straight at the other foal's face. Peering with blue eyes out of black hollows...a black body with only some marrow and white markings...it was a very startling thing to see.
Despite her initial squeak, Sonny perked back up. "Hi!" She blinked at Adalind's snide question "Oh. Uh. I'm just, um..." she looked about. "I, uh, don't know...? Exploring, I think!" punctuated with an excited wing flap. "Are you exploring, too?" Her tail starting whipping and lashing, an uncontrolled wagging like a dog. "What's up with your EYES? They glow! That's so COOL! My Daddy's eyes are kinda like yours but they don't glow or anything! And are those horns? That's so neat!" Her pep was quickly ramping up. "Do you live around here? Are there more foals like us? Do you have parents? Maybe our parents could be friends!"
This was very obviously an innocent child. Who didn't know how to pace herself, to boot.

Yeah, clearly not out to attack anyone, she noted to herself. Which was good, because despite her blending and pouncing practices Addy was in no position to deal with a direct threat at this point. Not yet. For now Adalind frowned tying to keep up with the filly who was speaking at a hundred miles a minute. "Exploring?" She questioned latching onto the first thing that she heard. It actually wasn't the worst way to spend time - she had completed a few preliminary passes over the area with her sister the day before. The area was pretty vast and overall a nice enough place for a few foals to explore, she had to admit. She nodded with her head to indicate a rock formation to the south, "Stay away from there. We heard some rattlers earlier," she informed the other briskly.

Adalind was lucky to get a word in at all- Sonny's pre-chatty round two inhale lasted just long enough for the skull-faced filly to say all she wanted to. The cross-breed's dramatic breathing deflated at the last thing out of Addy's mouth. "Rattlers?" Sonny blinked, furrowing her brow. "What're those? Are they like...rats?" As she lived next to the lake, Sonny knew more about aquatic wildlife and the animals attracted to the small human population in the village. She could recall some bugs, all sorts of fish, a couple of crustaceans, some vermin...but not much in the way of reptiles. Outside of her dad's sea turtle, anyways. "I know those can be annoying, but what's so bad about THESE rats? They're just like mice but bigger. Thats what Daddy told me," Sonny said with an authorative nod. Daddy was NEVER wrong. Ever. She could swear by it.
"We sure could explore though! There's so much of...of...EVERYTHING! For ever and ever!" Her wings flapped enthusiastically. "Daddy says to stay near the lake, but that's so BORING. Maybe if we go to the right spots, we'll find my big brother or something! ...You're gonna come with, right?" the gray filly asked with a smile.

We? was the first thing that Addy really latched on to in her mind. What is this we she's talking about? Adalind wondered before adding out loud to the other, "Rattlers, not rats, but I'd bet they'd eat a rat with half a chance. They make a rattling noise and you can't let them bite you, it would be....bad." Her mind then turned to the young one's other prospect, the idea of exploring. It was true, she had already gone over the area with her sister the day before, but it would not harm her to have another look. Besides, this one seemed like she would get in trouble. And one thing her mother had taught her (after never back down from a fight) was to protect. It was admittedly her father that she usually used her efforts with but....she knew if she let this girl go off on her own and something happened there would be this nagging feeling in the back of her mind all day. With a resolute sigh she asked, "Which way?"
