Who: Melisande and Vivi When: Midmorning Where: A lovely dress shop on the Gambino strip Weather: Springy and bright
She would know her when she saw her, Vivi thought, taking off her sunglasses as she entered the store. She had seen the muse before, and -- oh! as though anyone could forget that face and figure.
Vivi smiled broadly at the shop attendant and turned toward the first rack of dresses. She always loved this store -- so many independent designers, and such a range of colors, materials, and styles. The white polka-dotted dress she wore now she'd bought from the store just last year! It was so terribly comfortable and flowed so well, and she adored that the polka-dots were tiny stylized roses rather than simple dots. Such lovely attention to detail!
She'd offered the shop to Melisande as a meeting place when the muse called. And how shocked she'd been to receive such a call! Rhedefre told her they were friends, and that he'd invited her to meet her and Shepard one weekend soon, but she'd hardly expected to be meeting the sigel sooner.

The little bell chimed overhead as Melisande let herself in. The store was as bright as the day outside, a veritable candy store of colors and textures, all tastefully displayed on racks and slender mannequins. The Muse paused for a moment, smiling as she took it in.
This was a perfect suggestion. She hadn't even met Vivi yet, and she was already glad she had made the call!
Pasha kept her wings close, as she always did in a shop, and shut the door carefully behind her. She'd chosen a simple white dress for the day…something she could accessory shop against as well if they chose. Her hair was caught in a loose side pony, pulled over one mostly bare shoulder.
"Vivi?" Her voice lifted with excitement as she spotted the other shopper. It had to be her…why else would Cesc light up so when he spoke of her? "It's a pleasure to meet you, and thank you for coming! I'm Melisande!"

Though they both wore white, there was little in common between the two women's appearances. While Melisande, blonde and blue-eyed, lavender wings folded, pink-lipped and milk-complected, was angelic in the hue, Vivi was the opposite. Her dark hair, tied in a loose braid, moved as she went forward, her red-painted lips in a slow smile. Her eyes were dark and flashing, and when she walked there was a womanly sensuality to her. Her voice, too, was low in pitch and rich in timbre as she spoke. She seemed more suited to dark than light.
"Mon Dieu, look at this one," the Frenchwoman said, closing the distance between them with two French air-kisses to either of Melisande's cheeks. "I am Vivi, but the pleasure, it belongs to me in this meeting! I have heard Rhedefre talk much of you."
There was a spark of admiration in the woman's eye as she pulled away, looking at Melisande with an obvious and earnest pleasure.

Melisande returned the air kisses warmly…it was obvious the custom was not new to her, and she leaned back with a smile. Her hands had found Vivi's somehow, though the Muse didn't even remember reaching for them! She gave them a squeeze, wings fluffing. "I've heard wonderful things about you. Oh, speaking of!" Releasing the woman's hands, Pasha paused to rifle through her tote for a moment before withdrawing a sheer tissue wrapped package. It was tied with a thin white ribbon, and Vivi's name was hand written upon it in purple.
"I've made myself at home so many times at your bakery…this is something from our shop, as a thank you!" Visible inside was a little enameled crocus flower, with a gold plated center. "It used to be a pendant, but I've changed it into a hair clip! It could be an apron accessory, as well." She hoped it was to the woman's tastes. Vivi was so lush, Pasha could more easily imagine her with clusters of rich jewels! "Our shop is for…reconsidered items. Nothing as lovely as all this."
It was a genuine compliment, though she followed it up with a smile to the attendant. The Muse took a look around, already captivated by the styles and choices. "Where to start!"

"She comes with a gift, my goodness, I cannot believe!" exclaimed the Frenchwoman, taking the flower from the Muse. She unwrapped it with her lips parted in a smile of pleasure, and shook her head. She extracted the flower carefully, turning it over in her hands, her face bright. Such a thoughtful gift! She clipped it into her hair immediately, the white of the enamel highlighted in the black. She folded the tissue and undid the little card, setting one atop the other and tucking them both into her purse.
"Is it quite as ravishing as I think it must be?" The Frenchwoman said with a laugh, turning her head and orienting the flower pin toward Melisande. She folded both her hands beneath her chin and smiled impishly, like posing for a picture. "Thank you, beautiful one, now we are both adorned with flowers!"
"Can I help you both with anything?" The shop attendant said, drawing Vivi's attention.
"Oh, I am certain you will in a little moment," Vivi said airily. "I have never been here and not found something. But we will browse first, yes?"
"Of course. Just let me know if you need anything."

Melisande laughed with delight at Vivi's reaction, bringing her hands together. "You look beautiful! Flowers suit you! You are very welcome, thank you again for your hospitality and for meeting me today." She quieted as the attendant called over to them, cheeks pinking delicately. Demurring to the Frenchwoman's lead, she nodded, and turned slowly to survey the store.
"I've been wearing grey or cobalt all winter! I'm excited for something different. Lavender wings are hard to match, though..." Melisande smiled, and settled her fingers lightly on Vivi's arm. "Oh, this one would be lovely on you!" Pasha admired a short crimson dress with grecian influence, with clasps at each shoulder.

"Ah, but not so well as they suit you, I must say," laughed the Frenchwoman, lifting gentle fingers to touch the enameled creation in her hair. She seemed wholly pleased with it, and was quite unable to stop touching it for a few more moments as they looked around.
"Ahh, your wings -- but they are soft enough that they would not clash, I think, with almost anything! A pale green, soft blues and navies, whites and creams, all manners of violets, blacks -- really, I do not think that you have a limit!" said Vivi, leafing through a nearby rack. She eyed Melisande briefly to gauge her size as she went, and only stopped when the muse held out a dress in her absolute favorite hue.
"My goodness, I must exclaim~" she hummed, touching the fabric delicately, her dark eyes moving across the garment. "What a beauty you have found! Exactly the sort I always adore. Now I must return the favor and find you one, as well! It is no fun to enter the dressing room as the only one with a garment, do you not think?"
She turned, holding up a hand, and extracted a short navy tea-length dress, sheer chiffon draping over the shoulders and settling in a back v deep enough to accommodate wings.

Pasha was delighted…not only that the Frenchwoman had liked her gift and dress choice, but that they seemed to be getting along perfectly. Vivi's attention was delicious…the Muse hadn't felt so sated for days. "The navy is lovely! I've never tried anything in it." She accepted the garment, passing Vivi the crimson dress in trade. "What about this one? Oh, or this?"The first was an eclectic black dress with an intricate metallic bib, which dipped like a tuxedo front. The second was a simple peach swing dress with a crocheted yoke, but the Sigel's fingers smoothed over it with obvious admiration. She took them both down off the rack and held them up for her companion's inspection.

"Have you not? Ahh, it is that I think a little boldness would suit you -- bring some little gold from your hair, and make the color of your eyes deeper." Vivi laughed, tapping her deep red lips with one finger, her nails enameled to nearly the same rich shade. "Oh, in the whites and creams you are an angel, no doubt, but in the jewel-tones I believe you ascend to goddess! I must see! I have the most impudent curiousity, poor lovely one, you will find."
She turned her attention to the dresses then, her gaze slowly swinging from one dress to the other. The Frenchwoman crossed her arms, her lips parted, her dark eyes taking both dresses in. At last, she threw up her hands, as though defeated. "D'accord! There is nothing for it. The black one, it is more my style, but what is the purpose of always staying in one's style? I will try on the peach, you the black -- we will find ourselves quite lovely in different things, I am certain. The softest colors, the peaches and pinks, I never wear. I feel quite the liar when I do!" Vivi's smile broke wide, a sensual and womanly expression.
"While we are breaking our habits, have you anything you have not dared to try? Something to tempt you, perhaps, while we are here?" She turned and looked toward the displays, her eyes falling on a row of more burlesque fashions toward the back. Corseted dresses, sheery shift gowns, short flapper dresses made of rows upon rows of thin, dancing cords... Should she bring the Muse's attention to it?
She thought suddenly of Rhedefre, polite and ever-conscious of others. How he would flush purple if she made his friend uncomfortable.
But they were rather lovely little dresses, risque as they were...

"Curiosity is an old friend!" She laughed along with Vivi, finding the woman charming. The companionship warmed her cheeks like champagne. "I think you would look quite lovely in anything you try, but it's a deal. I will try the black! Here is this one for you."She turned to look for dressing rooms, and followed Vivi's gaze instead to the back of the store. Precious fabrics were draped like treasures, sumptuous in both form and texture. Pasha's eyes went wide, and she glanced at Cesc's human reflexively to judge her reaction. Vivi looked at the dresses as though they were all made of chocolate. Melisande's smile blossomed. Still holding her selection of dresses in one arm, she took Vivi's hand and spread her wings slightly as she drifted towards the back. Under the small, tasteful crystals of the modern chandelier, the Sigel looked heavenly indeed. "Temptation, however, is a new acquaintance. Never hurts to look?" She released Vivi and ran her fingers over a floral corseted dress…sweet with its roses, but something in the fabric and cut made it seem much less than wholesome. Another seemed almost sheer, with twinings of navy beads in a nouveau style that made the Muse pause. "They're all so different…" Pasha murmured, brushing another with the back of her hand to feel the fabric.

Vivi accepted the dress almost lovingly, her hands touching the fabric as though it were living and sensitive. She looked down at the peach thoughtfully, inspecting the stitching, and then looked up with a soft 'mm?' as Melisande spoke. It was almost as though the muse had noticed the risque dresses rather than being led to them by the Frenchwoman, so innocent was her expression.
Then she smiled, and all her innocence evaporated. "Yes, it does not hurt to wear, either!" She walked behind Melisande, looking at a dress that seemed modest at the front -- a deep and living violet, long-sleeved, with jewels sewn into the shoulders -- but then had barely any back to it at all, the fabric dipping and scooping dangerously low. She plucked it from the rack, and nodded at the corseted confection Melisande looked at.
"These two, I think, for you. Of course they are different -- women, too, come in all flavors. We pair nicely with so many things." Vivi laughed, catching Melisande's eye and winking.

She had no idea why, but a wink from Vivi set her to blushing. "This is a good start!" Melisande drifted towards the changing rooms, pausing before one to make sure Vivi was settled as well.
"May I see them on you? The ones you like?" All women instinctively knew there was zero chance of leaving a dressing room in something that didn't meet expectation. Surely everything would be lovely on the frenchwoman, but it was truly a matter of how a dress made you feel.
"And…if you don't mind helping me with the corset when I'm ready?" Someday, she'd promised herself, she'd have a friend with the art. Vi tightened tied them off like sneakers before a run.

Vivi laughed, taking another dress into her arms -- this one seemingly made out of only fringes upon fringes, that danced even just as Vivi slid it from the rack. The store had only three dressing rooms, and they were all empty, leaving Vivi and Melisande to take what they wanted and linger for as long as they pleased in front of the wide, three-faced mirror that stood just outside the rooms. "Oh, I cannot help myself but to show, even when they look bad! It is a delight to see how anything drapes, do you not think? Even when it is unflattering, it can at least be funny."
"Tell me when you want the help with the corset, yes? I will be happy to help. I have tightened many, you know," the Frenchwoman said cheerily over her shoulder as she slid the door shut to her dressing room.
Once inside, she undressed quickly, slipping off her dress and hanging it on a peg, then stepping into the peach garment Melisande had selected. She turned and looked at herself in the slim mirror within, before opening the door and coming out. Yes -- it fit nicely on her shoulders and stopped high on her thighs. The color was perhaps not quite right, washing her skin out slightly... ah, well. It was lovely, all the same.
She gathered her hair back, looking at the neckline further. Too bad about the color! She could quite see herself in the dress on a nice daytime outing, otherwise.
Vivi smiled in the mirror. She was enjoying herself. She liked shopping and she liked her company, and she liked even more that Melisande was a friend of Cesc's. She liked that the stag was popular, that he had friends that visited him, but she liked even more that he had one that cared enough to reach out to his family. Melisande was special, clearly, in her own right -- an angel, Shepard was sure of it, for her soul. It gave Vivi joy to think that a divine creature would take such an interest in the stag.

Melisande tried the corseted satin first, slipping out of her white dress first and hanging it with swift and practiced grace. The material felt amazing against her skin, but the moment she held up in place she had to laugh.
"Vivi-" She called across to the other dressing room, a smile edging her tone. "I look like one of Cesc's cakes! You have to see."
She drifted out from the dressing room and stopped abruptly, wings furling at the sight of the Frenchwoman. Melisande was still holding the dress up, since she wasn't able to tighten the corset herself…but the sight of the Vivi in the peach dress was almost enough to make her drop it in surprise!
"You look beautiful!!" She didn't mean to stare, but it was the first time Pasha had ever been envious of legs before. Suddenly, she realized she wasn't doing dresses justice! "Your hair is so dark and lovely, I can see how you would carry a richer color well, but…oh!"
She tucked her wings in again, beaming at Cesc's guardian. A small part of her knew that Vivi probably looked good in anything she tried on. Melisande snuck another quick glance at her legs before dropping her eyes to her own dress.
The cheeky roses winked back up at her, and Pasha laughed again.
"See what I mean? It's too funny~ If I'm to go this route, I should have Cesc truly frost each one by hand! Now that would be a sight!"

The dress swung in a pretty bell motion as Vivi swirled to take a look at Melisande. She caught the extra glance the muse took at her legs, and she smiled pleasantly at it -- the Muse, she thought, was limited only by a Raevan's natural slowness in gathering all the ... parts. Melisande would be all the more devastating with legs, feet, toes -- perhaps it was better that she not be given all her gifts at once.
"You are too kind," said Vivi with a laugh. "And I think, perhaps, a little too tough on yourself! While I believe he would rather be proud to decorate a confection that looks like you, I think that it is we can quite change how you look in this dress."
"Tourner" she said, making a motion with one finger for the muse to turn around. The shift turned Melisande toward the wide three-angle mirror, giving her full opportunity to see the way the dress changed as Vivi laced it. She put her deft fingers to work on the satin ties, firm but gentle. "Now, it is not wholly comfortable, but the view will be worth it."
