Name: Faust
Nicknames: Pick any combination of cuss words.
Breed: Kurilian Bobtail
Attached to: No one, but lives in the workshop that Alois rents for taxidermy purposes. Faust has a well-loved and well-chewed cardboard box that sits in the corner of the studio. There are potential plans for him to eventually go to Quenton.
Alignment: Senshi
Blood Type: B
Fav. Food: Raw bone. He loves the chewy texture.
Hated Food: Alois' taxidermy projects. The hell was in that bird, anyway? Foam??
Hobbies:Establishing Dominance - Faust enjoys challenging others on an assertive basis. Essentially this is his way of getting to know new people - he tests his bounds through asserting himself until he establishes a recognized pecking order with those he knows. With Alois, this culminated in lying atop various skins or tools and hissing at him if he tried to remove the gargantuan feline from necessary objects. With others, it may result in lying atop a favorite book at the library, or stealing cell phone charms as his own, or even fighting other cats until they capitulate to him. Some may consider it bullying (which is closer to the truth), but Faust considers it ironing out the order of dominance between strong personalities.
Pep Talks -
I'm gonna need you to do better, son! Faust enjoys encouraging others in his own way, though his unique form of encouragement lacks the presence of endearments or positive encouragement. Perhaps this stems from a love of watching wrestling movies with his old owner, but he much prefers encouraging others out of lulls in a more... violent manner. Phrases like <******** 'im up or
are you gonna let him do that to you are not out of the question, as they were personal favorites from old shows. Mostly he expresses this hobby around those who find themselves questioning if they could accomplish certain tasks, or simply look dejected. Usually he doesn't even need to see improvement to consider his efforts a success - he's probably already patting himself on the back for a job well done.
Prioritizing -
I ain't got time for this! Most might call it sheer laziness, but Faust insists that he prioritizes tasks based on what most suits him at the time. A nap takes precedence over interfering with Alois' work, and eating supersedes all others in terms of importance. This also affects others, as he considers himself more attuned to what people
should be doing than they themselves are. If Alois is working on lacing up a bird with dental floss, for example, Faust may chew on said floss to get the Saarlander's attention and promptly scurry off to drive him toward other activities. If Quenton intends to rebuild a set of bones into a hand shape, Faust may lay on said hand to reroute Quenton's behavior toward petting him. It's all about priorities.
Virtues: Determined -- Surprisingly, Faust manifests a nearly unbreakable drive to accomplish something once he sets his mind to it. Even when facing adversity, the cat won't back down, especially if it means facing slanted odds. His determination is somewhat easy to spark, and comes into play among a vast number of motivators (from getting fed to warding a potentially dangerous individual from his caretakers). Interestingly, Faust does not recognize his determination as anything above and beyond normal resolve - he expects that most other people he encounters have a matching drive to his own, or are as easily led to motivation as he is.
Watchful over Others -- Despite his excellence at taking care of himself, Faust extends such consideration toward people he considers friends, bros, or comrades. If a certain blonde pulls long hours over a sculpting project, Faust will try to intervene in his usual assertive manner, if only to distract him long enough to tell him he hasn't eaten all day. His concerns pertain to self-neglect, destructive paths, or even just a large volume of misfortune in one day. It's not that he wants others to call it quits on their current course, but that they should take a step back for a minute so that they can later resume with more fervor. Specifically, once said blonde eats, he can probably tackle the assignment with more fervor than before.
No Nonsense -- Faust doesn't mince words. Faust doesn't employ flowery language or bombastic phrases. Faust doesn't beat around the bush. If the cat has something to say, he articulates himself clearly and concisely - which enables him to skirt potential misunderstandings. He sees himself as beyond manipulation tactics, baited phrases, or loaded words so often times he's quite candid around other individuals. To someone who spent a great deal of their life reading nuances in body language or analyzing articulations for true intent, Faust is a breath of fresh air.
Flaws:Stern -- Given that he typically appears disgruntled and conducts himself in a no-nonsense manner, Faust often looks like he absolutely lacks any sense of humor - that events around him are all serious all the time. And that appearance is legitimately true - Faust absolutely lacks a sense of humor, especially when a joke pertains to himself, and often reacts poorly to what he perceives as flippancy. Faust doesn't smile much either, not in his eyes or his feline features. He probably doesn't know how. And lastly, he actually takes offense to those who attempt to lighten a heavy mood - are they trying to detract from the seriousness of the situation? Get real, fool!
Imposing -- Faust boasts an impressive size, even as a cat. Being an overly large kurilian bobtail, he's used to being the man to respect - and plays this up whenever possible. This flaw is most apparent in his body language, as he will puff his chest out or stand a little taller around others, or use his size to overtly intimidate others into standing down from trying to cross him. Faust knows he's got presence on others, and he knows how to use it too.
Critical - For all his pep talks and determination, Faust is actually incredibly difficult to please. No matter how seamlessly an act was executed, it either took too long or lacked flair or should've been done in an entirely different manner. Faust even articulates these disappointments beforehand through asking the offending individual what they think they're doing, or if they even use their brains. Even if someone follows his instructions to a T, he's got something to say about the way that did it that rendered the act less than stellar. And no, he doesn't care if he upsets someone by saying so. If they're going to cry about it, they better get their namby pamby asses outta the ring.
Challenge: Man up ladies, we got work to do.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION : CAT FORM
Face/Ears: The cat's expression should be stern or unamused. The cat's facial structure is fairly streamlined as in the refs (see body refs for facial structure), with long angular ears.
Body: Body type for breed:
[x] [x] [x] This is also a valid reference. Large adult cat, trim and muscular due to hunting habits and a human cohabitant who is reluctant to feed him.
Fur: Fur length is long as in the ref, with a jet black color. Colorist could play with adding lighter streaks in a similar manner to the dark stripes in the ref if interested! The cat's forehead star color will be silver or gold, up to the artist!
Eyes: Gold with a brilliant orange toward the pupil area.
Accessories: Faust wears a threaded collar fitted with a small bird skull on the front as made by Alois. The collar has a tuft of feathers tied into the threading about an inch away from the skull on either side. Faust occasionally tries to rip this off.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION : HUMAN FORM
Eyes: Same as feline form if possible!
Hair: Ref is
here. Style words would be an incredibly short black buzz cut. No actual accessories though!
Face: Chiseled and masculine. Faust has a fair amount of five o'clock shadow going on, but otherwise no obvious scars or features. Artist could play with facial hair styles if interested! Very dark complexion.
Clothes: If possible, something similar but not identical to
this (except no hat or face things). Naturally the shoes will need to go. The aspects I am looking for are: the front flap from the coat, the long tails of the coat, the gem encrustings on the edge of the coat, and the bright shoulder cloth. Colours could be purple, gold/orange, and maybe silver? It's absolutely open to interpretation. An entirely different direction could be a more shop-appropriate, fantasy take on the clothing styles present in the Matrix.
