Have skyrocketed since I last checked. At least a 1/4 of my items are suddenly priced over 5 mil O_O
Did gold become more valuable or something?
On the topic of gold, what is a lot of gold to you all? Care to list how much you have?

I had come back from a 6 year hiatus not too long ago... From what I'm told, there's a new CEO. This CEO apparently made it so valuable and rare items can ONLY be bought in the cash shop... Gaia got overrun with greedy little kids who blow their allowances on GC and sell the items in the marketplace and the GE at ridiculously high prices. Now damn near everything is hella inflated. >.> It's a serious bummer.

Now damn near everything is hella inflated. >.> It's a serious bummer. This is exactly why Gaia needs "responsible" adults to run the site.... There are even items in the marketplace that priced in the billions range. It's downright scary. Imagine the site ten years from now. A ridiculously simple item such as a strawberry would be worth one trillion gold.... xD Oh, Gaia.... emotion_eyebrow

This inflation has been happening since the beginning of gaia, it has always been a problem.
But it got 10x worse late last year, so I'm told, with the introduction of gold generators.
Everyone with access to 3$ can be a millionaire. And that is very damaging to the economy. Being a millionaire means nothing. Gold is not worth anything.
Everything is priced in the millions. Everyone who isn't a millionaire, is pretty much screwed over, because they can't afford anything.
It used to be that if you had cash, you'd have access to more gold, but people who didn't buy cash, still could enjoy the site just fine. It's not like that anymore, though and people are really upset.
It also doesn't help that there's flash sales every five minutes, and that everytime you login you have 10 announcements promoting cash related things, it only serves to annoy people more.

Well, that is true... Although back when I first started, things didn't seem so bad. When GC entered the scene, that's when s**t got crazy. I thought I put a lot of real money back before I went on hiatus... It's nothing compared to now. >.> I guess I'm not helping the inflation either by buying GC, but, I kinda can't help it. gonk I do have my limits though. I will NOT buy anything in the cash shop that's over $10 and even then I feel ridiculous. $25 for ONE golden laurels!? Yeah.. No thanks. And yeah.... Those announcements. I don't recall them ever being that frequent. And I can't have just ignore the announcements. I have to clear them... So it's annoying. If it went into the trillions, I'd definitely stop playing, cause that's ridiculous. I would assume if that happened, we'd have to pay for more GC... That I just won't do. D:

D: I definitely agree, but personally I would still "quote on quote" support the site because I have some friends who I like to talk to. One must find what they truly enjoy or ignore at the cost of others. There is a "great divide" in the Gaia community. For some strange reason, I find it extremely fascinating from a psychological perspective. In a way, it mirrors societies' standards and what they believe. It's human psychology, greed, and the want for power. It's the fate of modern social sites. Easter Island of Gaia, if you will. The higher ups using us, the people who play Gaia and "taking" our resources. There are people who buy Gaia cash and there are people who make it readily available. In other words, it's not about "us" anymore, it's about them (the people behind gaia). At the root of it, Gaia is just a site for money, nothing else. A digital money tree. We like it, they make it. If it's popular it must be made at the expense of the buyer. I hate it. It really is utterly disgusting. Gaia isn't a money tree to that extent.

MCs were almost ALWAYS a thing. They started off under a different name, but were around since year one or two. I believe the first one was an angelic halo that you could not buy. It was give out to about 3000 people or so, and was followed by either the angelic pieces, or the kiki/coco kittys. I remember back when 10 million gold was only in the 1% richest gaians. The halo and kitties hit over 15 mil each BACK THEN. That alone shows a major change.

It really started getting horrible during the end of last year. Not that it wasn't bad before, but with all the gold generators and constant GC related spam they call announcements, it's gotten to the point that the site isn't even all that fun anymore.
Clearly they don't view us as members, they view us as CUSTOMERS, otherwise they'd be looking to make this place a more enjoyable experience, rather than pushing Gaia Cash so heavily.

Gaia has gotten ridiculous. I hate how they're pushing gaia cash and a "buy this now" announcement every 10 minutes. It sickens me that gaia has changed into a greedy power corrupt site. I remember back before GC when you had to earn every GG the good ol' fashioned hard way.
