Jase stood on top of the flat boulder, looking over the small gathering of horses, and miniature horses, before him. It was not even the entirety of his group, but still the numbers who had joined together since they had first found these hot springs were staggering. He had only been looking for a home for himself and Auden. Never in his wildest dreams had he expected to find Luyu, Chane, and all these others wanting to make the mountain their home.
He cleared his throat, "Looks like this will be everyone who is coming today. Alright." He knew a few of the members were out on patrol or otherwise tending to their duties. He suspected that Chane and Sebastian had snuck off to spend some time along together. He held back the urge to sigh. "First, I would like to hear from each of you."

Euthyphro circled high above the proceedings. It had been the stream drifting up from the hot springs that had first drawn him to this mountainous region, but it was the small group below which had caught his attention and drew him in for a closer look. It wasn't too often that he spotted groups like this, all standing around and listening to a single speaker, and he was intensely curious about the topic. Was it a herd? A family? A performing troupe? Strangers listening to a poet? There was only one way to find out.
He descended, taking care to land in the trees a fair distance behind the grey stallion who was speaking. As luck would have it the onlookers all had their attention on the speaker, and none of them noticed him vanish into the forest.

Stargazer looked around at the gathered crowd, he was not planning on speaking. He was still a bit shy around this new group and his brother had agreed to give their report today. However, Chroma seemed to have lost track of time or otherwise gotten sidetracked and it was beginning to look like Star would be on his own after all.
He swallowed, trying not too look too nervous as his gaze flicked from one individual to another. Something up in the sky caught his gaze and he looked up just in time to see a figure descending into the forest. It wasn't nearly long enough to tell for certain, but there were so few members of the white leaf that could fly that there was no doubt in his mind that the figure had been his brother. He smiled. Chroma would be here to give their piece after all.

Ranger stepped forward first. He really had very little to say, and it was relatively unimportant. The mountain was out of the way for many and most of his daily rounds resulted in no encounters. The few trips that he found anything on were usually only ones with traces of camp sites or other markings left by passer byes. Once in a blue moon he met the pony who would later be responsible for these minor environmental changes.
"The mountain is as quiet as ever," he started, allowing the group a moment to quiet down before continuing. "I don't foresee any problems with anyone returning to claim the mountain or surrounding lands. I suspect that there are a few groups nearby but none of them seem to come here on any regular basis."

Bulena "Bob" Stronghammer was the next to step forward. She would have gladly gone first. The only thing that had prevented her from doing so was her small stature. Everyone had seen the larger Ranger step forward, be she had been lost in the crowd.
"My own project has been going along quite well despite all of your best efforts," she didn't sound pleased in the least. "Fermentin' fruits intentionally is a simple task but if the lot of you would quit nicking all my stores I would have a far easier time figurin' the easiest way to go about it. If my fruit keeps growin' tiny little legs and waltzing off into the night I'm afraid I will have nothing to say next time we all gather like this. So find yer own fruit and keep yer sorry selves off mine!"

Luyu shifted uncomfortably in place. It was only this morning that she had taken a basket of newly fermented fruit out of the little rabbit- like pony's stores. The only thing she could tell herself to keep from admitting it right there was that it had not been for her at all. She'd taken the fruit for Chane and Sebastian, who had been planning to soak in the hot springs together while everyone else was here at the meeting. They had not asked for the fruit, but she had brought it as something for them to enjoy while they spent a bit of time alone together.
Clearly that would not be happening again.
"I have plotted out several areas which could be cleared over the course of this summer and will be ready to plant next year. I could use all the help I can get for moving some of the heavier items, though."

Euthyphro walked as quietly as he could through the forest. It wasn't that he was worried about scaring the group, most horses were not afraid of angeni after all, but he did not want to just disturb their group while they were having what might be an important conversation.
Clearing land? Fermenting fruit? Even though he could hear quite well from the shadows he was having trouble making heads or tails out of this conversation. The grey stallion wasn't a poet, that much was for certain. This was not a performing troupe either. Or was it? Maybe they were clearing land for their performance and fermenting fruit for their guests? But no, the grey mare had mentioned planting. They must be preparing for a long term settlement. The only thing that bothered him was what would they possibly be growing that they couldn't find in the forest?

Stargazer stiffened noticeably when he realized that the entire group had turned to look at him. Just where was Chroma? That had been him landing just a few minutes earlier, right? Maybe he had found a new tea plant in the woods and it was holding him up?
Star coughed once, "Oh... ok well... Brother has identified several, I mean, eleven plants which he believes are ideal for brewing. Once the Luyu's lands are cleared we can try transplanting a few to see if we can grow them in a controlled enviroment. Um, also there are about fifteen fruit and berry plants in this area. He says we could dry the ones which are not being used to ferment and use those to flavor teas as well..."
Chroma had also been talking about forming a trading group and going further than the mountain, but Star knew he wouldn't leave while they still needed him. Now was not a good time to bring it up.

Ranger looked over at the larger, near white stallion.
"I can keep a look out for new fruits on patrol, if that would help," he nodded. It wasn't as though there was ever that much to do on a patrol anyways. Star didn't look all too sure about that offer so he added, "I'll ask your big brother what he's already found when he comes back."
He turned to Luyu, "And I won't be able to help too much but I can come by after my patrols and help at least a little bit with those fields of yours. You showed me that one location yesterday. Not too bad. Mostly rocks there. I suppose there are a few where we'll have to figure out hauling out old stumps though. Unless there's something you figure we can grow using old stumps."

Bulena "Bob" Stronghammer wrinkled her little nose, "Now I know a nice shady stump can grow mushrooms nicely, but I doubt it would be much use for me for fermenting. I have tried quite a variety of foods in the past and often the only things which take well are the ones which already have a fair bit of sweetness to them. Fruits and the like, though there have been a few grains which have fermented nicely."
She looked over at Jase, "You were tellin' me before that you had a log hollowed out back home for some purpose or another. What do yeh, think of doin' the same now and keepin' a few about the fields to hold a bit of water in? If they leak then all the better I think. A slow waterin' system."

Luyu tilted her head, "Well, Chroma said there may be some plants which require more regular watering. If Bob's stump idea works we could plant those varieties near the watering stump and the ones that need less water further away. It wouldn't solve things to the point where we could simply leave it and let it grow, but it might help regulate everything."
She looked up at her big brother. It had been a huge shock running into him here, up until now she never thought she'd see any of her brothers again, never mind join a herd with them. She was happy things had worked out that way though. Time had healed the fear in her heart and in the end she had grown to regret leaving them behind like she had.

Jase listened to everyone talk in turn, taking in as much as he could. Each of them knew more about their respective tasks than he did, and at this stage it was best to rely on them and just try to catch up. When they seemed to be done talking, he was silent for a moment.
"I will come help you clear the fields, Luyu," there wasn't much he could do to help the others, but he could drag logs and rocks with ease. "Ranger, keep an eye out for traders who may be carrying useful goods. We don't have much to trade yet but we still may have something they want."
A noise behind him alerted him to the presence of someone behind him. He turned, expecting to see Chroma or his brother. The face there wasn't who he was expecting at all, "Hello, who are you?"
