After leaving Number and the Spirit Guide Valyrmora stepped through to the domestic side of the apartment. There were many doors leading the the different rooms of the servants and companions that worked for the gods. She had managed to get Ianthe a place among them. It was a door like all the others but it was his own room, his own space. She knocked lightly on the door.

He was never an hard one to find, not really. Today he was simply stayed put, like he did most day, though he had a rather interesting book on runework to keep him company. The young lady was a dear enough to go fetch it for him with the simple exchange of a few cookies. Caelia was indeed a bright little girl, and her cheerfulness was indeed somewhat contagious.

The knock on the door caught his attention. "Yes ? It will be a moment." It would take a bit to finally get up from where he was sitting on the desk, but he did so, and opened the door for her.

"My lady." He inclined his head in respect.

Val waited patiently, she understood that Ianthe was not able to move as quickly as he had once. She smiled when he finally opened the door, happy to see him, he looked better than he had when she had first greeted him. It was healthy for him to be around others.
"Ianthe, I was wondering if I might ask you some questions about the Underworld, pick your brains if you are not busy."

"Certainly." He moved aside to that the lady could come inside. The room was sparcely decorated, but in good order. There hadn't been much that he had, and there was not honestly much that he needed, as far as trinkets went.

"Though I am uncertain I will be able to answer you. My memory is not what it used to be."

Val stepped inside the neat but sparse room and shrugged at his talk of memory.
"It doesn't matter if you remember everything or nothing." She replied, if he remembered even the smallest thing then it would be useful.
"Lord Ankou and Lady Cosine are going into the Underworld to search for something for me. They will have to travel through Nergal's halls and to the mountains. I remember there was a gate there, but it was only for the gods. I was wondering if it was you that set the seal on it."

He led her back to the desk, the book still open where he had left it. She could sit and make herself comfortable as she wished.

"Hmm..." A gate far up in the mountains... "I have recollections of such a gate." Very vaguely. "As for the seal... Do you remember what it consisted of ?"

Val took a seat on a chair and thought in silence for a moment, trying to recall the mountains. They were vast and unforgiving, there to stop those who might wander where they were not supposed to.
"It could have been runes. A code of some kind perhaps. I'm afraid my mind is patchy. I think that would make sense over words or a spell."

"I think... I think it used the terrain in some way." Or maybe he was thinking of another gate. Most of them had different ways of opening them, and different kind of guardians guarding them.

Though... Guardians. "Was there a guardian as well ?" He could not remember, and this he was unlikely to know about. This had not been something he had concerned himself about.

"But yes... Some kind of runic code. All of them had some sort of thing protecting them.." But what exactly had it been ?

"A guardian, that is a good point. I had not thought about a guardian." She had found the dungeon keeper and Cerberus, but others. It was frustrating not knowing, though if there had been a guardian who was to say they were still in existence.
"I wonder if we even did remember if it would work. I think Nergal reformed the Underworld, if the mountains had changed perhaps the gate would have disappeared?"

"It is very possible." He had to admit this much. He sat on his bed then, unable to stay standing anymore. Hopefully the lady would not find offence in it.

"Though I do know some part of it must have remained." He remembered, so very vaguely... But there were harder fact - the simple fact that he was alive meant that there had to have been somewhere he could have been into. Otherwise, void would have devoured him whole.

"There might not be gates... They may still be there, but the wards broken. Try as I might, I..." He shook his head. "Give me a moment more..."

"It is fine Ianthe." Val said softly, giving the runekeeper a kind smile. "You may take as much time as you need. The Underworld can wait a few more hours." She did not want to put too much pressure on him, she knew that he had been through a lot and simple tasks could be taxing.

He so badly wanted to give her an answer. The lady had been so kind to him, after all, even though she had been under no obligation to be.

He was silent for a few moments, but then shook his head. "....I cannot recall. I know there was something there, I know it was tangibles, many pieces that had to be manipulated, and that I tended to the enchantment... But that it all that comes. My apologies."

"Hmm, perhaps the enchantment is broken then." The goddess mused. That would not be an entirely bad thing. It would mean that Cosine and Ankou would be able to pass easily to the other side of the realm. "Is the gate the only way through? I can't remember. There must have been a way for myself and Nergal to get from one part to another swiftly."

"It is possible." Things had been broken down and most of the realm completely destroyed, after all. It was very possible that the enchantment was broken, as it was possible that the whole area might actually be long gone.

"Well..." Ianthe frowned thoughtfully, his fingers tapping lightly against the comforter of his bed. "The two of you are lord and lady... It is highly possible that both yourself and Lord Nergal would simply be able to go where you wished, whenever you wished. The enchantment would have been to keep others out, most likely... Or perhaps keep them in. Perhaps to keep curious souls from wandering where they did not belong."

"Hmm, indeed. We are the realm." She agreed, well were, at the moment she was a glorified piece of jewellery stuck into some mortal's chest. "It still might be useful for them to investigate it. Perhaps they could aid its repair, I imagine it was to keep certain Spirits out, only the privileged were permitted into the fields after all."
