They had ended up walking together- safety in even the smallest of numbers, after all- following the encounter with the hungry flower. The trees around them seemed to be growing darker, the branches weaving tighter, closing around them: until they reached a signpost with the words "Black Forest Dungeon".
"Well.. looks like we'll need three more if we want to go in." Scanning the surroundings, she pointed out other people; "That one, this one, and the other one?"
Without waiting for a reply, she called out to the strangers. "Hey! YOU NEED A GROUP? WE'VE GOT TWO OVER HERE!"
"Well, one group, I mean, not two, but we've got two people--" All of a sudden, everything went dark, and when she turned back, a giant mushroom was looming over them.
He didn't really seem like a fun guy.

Having heard of the dungeon in the tavern, he wanders over to see what it's like. He isn't about to enter without a party, but things at the tavern were rowdy. Maybe he'll have better luck finding people interested in doing something about the dungeon closer to the entrance.
"Hey! YOU NEED A GROUP? WE'VE GOT TWO OVER HERE!"
The loud shout startles him. He turns to stare at the girl. The ears on her head mark her as one of the White Rabbit class - solid, fast attackers, or so the game advises. There seem to be a good mix of classes in the group, including a 'dormouse' healer. It seems like a balanced group.
More worrying, the first boss is already making a move on the 'original' party of three.
"Alright," he agrees and joins Protista's party as he runs to engage the fungus.
He drives the mushroom back from the unprepared party with three horizontal slashes in quick succession. He hopes it will give them time to recover from the shock and prepare for battle.
The mushroom swipes at him, but it's barely a scratch.

Wandering the Tulgey Woods was, alright, getting a little boring. He had traversed to a few other worldy locations, like the Tavern and the Hall of Guilds but still, it wasn't really a lot much else to do.
But then tales waffled through of battles and dungeons and possibly abilities to fight, and it perked GreenRanger's attention mightly. He set out with a whoop, rearing to go even though he really lacked his proper weapon (Who's voice still scoffed at him for not being able to take her along. Because she was so not a sword!). Either way, he was on his way when a delightful call rang through his ears. Requesting more participants in their party.
"Aa, dude! I'm so there!" He called out to the lovely ladies who beckoned others over. "Is that a mushroom?" Dude, it was a mushroom. He was going to join them and fight a mushroom!
Without really, letting anyone respond otherwise, GreenRanger leapt up and brought his ridiculous sword down on the creature. While trying to look really dramatic and cool.

There hadn't been all that much time for introductions, not with the mushroom.. well, there. Neither of the newcomers seemed particularly.. familiar, as Saya had put it, nor were they white rabbits.
Following in the other girl's lead, Reine prepared an attack, drawing two cards and a dagger. Crouching, she moved to leap upwards, aiming for the mushroom's eyes- but it swung around suddenly and bopped her on the head, sending her crashing back to the ground.

After the fungus disappears, Dreadpirate waits and lets the group catch their breath. They haven't had a proper introduction, but battle is a good bonding experience. (Just ask the armed forces.)
"Is everyone alright?" he asks. No one looks seriously injured. If their wounds were anything like his, they were more love taps than anything else. He's faced harder enemies out in the field, but he knows worse things will come their way.
"Nice work," he congratulates the party before they move on.
A tree twists down to block their path.
"I have a question for you," says the tree, "if Billy and Nilly are taller than..."

"Not quite the typical forest, is it?" It was vaguely reminiscent of Halloween, what with all the things that shouldn't normally be hostile, not to mention alive. But if this was a game- and after all, most of life had been a game to Justin, then.. it wasn't all that out of the ordinary, she supposed.
"I think I'm fine, you guys?" Letting the tall gryphon lead the way, Reine looked warily around them. The path seemed fairly straightforward- until all of a sudden, a tree twisted into their way, grinning horrifically at them.
It didn't wait for an answer before swinging a heavy branch right at them.
"Hey! Watch out!" She scrabbled to pull out cards, and leapt ahead in front of him in an attempt to shield him. It seemed there was no end to these monsters.

The tree starts speaking the same illogical riddle from the beginner area. Anyone close to Dreadpirate can hear him literally growling. 'Kill them with fire,' his thoughts rage.
(Azrael's in agreement, if only to see the dungeon burn.)
A skeletal branch whips out. He tenses, then straightens when Protista jumps in front of him and fends off the attack.
"Thank you," he says, a little stunned. His mood improves. Those ridiculous trees might be everywhere, but it's a comfort to have people watching his back. He wonders if Protista is a Hunter, or another civilian who's dreams have led them into dangerous territory.
He shakes his head and tries to refocus as he slashes at the tree. With his March Hare minipet assisting, they do a small amount of damage. Dreadpirate rotates his shoulders and frowns. He can do better, if he concentrates. Next time.

A twisted branch caught her square in the stomach, throwing her back. In some alternate universe Reine might have caught her balance in mid-air and landed on her feet after doing an impressive backflip, but instead she crashed, anticlimatically, into the ground.

He went for his cards and… it wasn't an awful roll, he could use the luck to hurt the boss and the heal was a good start to help the team already fighting.

"Careful!" he calls when Protista falls over. She's up and brushing herself off quickly, so she's not injured badly by it. She looks more mad than hurt - sounds it, too, he's relieved to hear.
The small Dormouse - Ouroboros-Tea, the display above his head says - pipes up at this point. It's good timing. No serious injuries yet, but the more used they get to supporting each other, the better off they'll be by the time they reach the harder enemies.
"Good idea," he says to Ouroboros-Tea (and that is going to be a mouthful to keep thinking of the guy as). He's also glad the healer targets one of the others. It's good to know everyone can strategise and prioritise.
A branch slaps him across the face. He stumbles but doesn't fall.
His heal spell is charged and he decides this is as good a time as any to use it. He checks HP levels, but it seems after taking that hit, he's just barely the most wounded.
When he sees the tree aiming for Protista, he doesn't hesitate to return her favour from earlier and block the attack. "Watch out," he warns as he steps in front and braces himself, ready to absorb the impact with the flat of his sword.
His minipet takes the opportunity to scratch at the tree's roots.

The dormouse caught her by surprise- he pulled out a card, healing her back to full. "Thanks," she said, flashing him a grin. So that was the five of them: two rabbits, two gryphons, and a dormouse. Not at all a bad combination.
"We may need to strategise a little-- weeerrgh!"
Apparently Dreadpirate had better eyes than her; before the tree smacked her this time, he'd thrown himself in front of her- and then, to her surprise, the small rabbit from before sprang out of her bag again, and launched itself at the tree, claws outstretched.
Trippy.
Once more she drew her cards, and cast a spell.
