The Garden Snake probably saw him as an easy target given that he was alone, his hand already moving to draw his blade as he looked it over before eventually making his move.

Deciding that he would go on the defensive this time, he ducked behind a rock then readied a spell that would help to mend his wounds.

And still the Garden Snake kept up its efforts, intent on bringing him down. He picked up a fairly sizeable rock, bided his time then tossed it towards the foul creature.

Seeing an opportune moment to launch a counter attack, he tightened his grip on his blade and stood up to charge towards the snake.

Pushed back by the snake, he fell back to the same rock he had taken cover from once more, putting aside his blade so that he could focus on tending to his injuries.

Eventually the Garden Snake's efforts seemed to have paid off when it managed to wrap its body around his leg to drag him out of his hiding place though not before his hand reflexively wrapped around his blade.

It was really a case of now or never. With the adrenaline coursing through his veins, he lifted his hand and began to swing it in a wild frenzy at the snake, doing everything he could in order to ensure his own survival.

And just as the snake was about to deliver the finishing blow and do him in, he managed to run his blade through its heart and emerge victorious. Dropping his blade to the ground, he just simply laid there, unable to move or think of anything other than just catching his breath.

He didn't know how long he laid there but eventually when he felt his strength return, he started to move to get up, sheathing his blade before picking up the card that remained as a reward for his trouble.
