T'rel was enjoying himself throughly. Each clutch was unique as the dragons that came from it, but his introductory speech was always the same. Do not over stuff your dragonets. Do not feed them too fast. Do not, he warned, allow them to attempt to feed themselves, as the Weyrleader had upon Impressing. Gereth had gotten his head stuck in a meat bucket. They were to be fed every few candlemarks, easing off at about a month. The dragonets would be provided for tonight, he told them: tomorrow they would learn to provide for their dragons.

"Alright!" He rubbed his hands together jovially. "I'm T'rel, your Weyrlingmaster. I'm going to lead you through the most dangerous stage of your lives. From now on, you will be expected to participate in drills, learn to between, and to fight Thread. Some of you may not be here when its time for you to graduate. Its my job to see that you survive; to teach you to raise your dragons and become great riders!" The man glanced about the feast hall, and grinned, "We'll have time for fun," he assured them, in a low voice. "We focus on bonding with your dragons and wingmates first! Go on, eat! Go talk amongst yourselves. I'm sure some of you have friends eager to talk to you." He gestured to the tables, laden with food.

The dining hall had been decorated with haste, the kitchen staff had rushed to finish the three roast wherries they'd cooked up for the meal. They'd piled plates high with mashed tubers and bubblypies, hot rolls, and thick cuts of fish steak, courteousy of the Master Fisherman Halren. "Go on," T'rel repeated, grinning, "Remember, no wine, and no romance. Not if you don't want your dragons to between! Enjoy, tonight is your first night as dragonriders."

S'aen had been uncharacteristically donning a grin since his Impression, a free hand planted gently on the neck of the brown next to him as if reassuring his existence. There was no way he could return to his previous state of mind, and he never wanted to. He was almost afraid of it, honestly; constantly reaching out to Jaecath and asking, You're really here forever?

Forever, Mine. Try to pay attention now. This is where our duty begins. Jaecath leaned affectionately against his bonded, his large frame causing S'aen to have to re-balance himself. Nodding, he focused on T'rel's words, his brow furrowing as he took the instructions quite seriously. This was the beginning of their long journey in order to become trained riders. If there was any time to be serious, it was now. "Yes sir," he replied to T'rel once he had laid out the ground rules, not wanting to harm Jaecath in any way.

The intense focus would be saved for later, though. A celebratory feast came beforehand, and despite their eagerness to get to work, the pair held no qualms against relaxation and food after the draining experience of the hatching. The Weyrlingmaster's words lingered in his brain for a moment; words of eager friends, and bonding with his wingmates. Well. There were no eager friends that he was aware of, but he supposed the group of weyrlings around him was a great place to start.

Once T'rel had finished speaking, he smiled and said, "Come on guys, let's eat!" Inviting any who wished to join him to follow suit. With a quick wave his tall frame began to saunter towards the core of the Feast alongside Jaecath, his eyes almost immediately locking onto the fish steaks. Today was surely a wonderful day.

Kaimi

There had been a short amount of time for Kaimi and Zimrith to clean up and make themselves presentable for the feast. Though, to be sure, it was unlikely that anyone would have expected what walked through the doors to the hatching feast. Zimrith wore a wreath of flowers around her neck, tiny metal bells affixed to the ribbons that bound the flowers together so that she jingled merrily as they walked. Kaimi, too, wore a similar wreath. Today was a day for celebration, after all! And this pair intended to enjoy the hell out of it.

We are very lovely, MyKaimi. Zimrith said, prancing a bit with her head held high.

We most assuredly are! Kaimi agreed, unable to wipe the grin off of her face. She beamed around the room, waving here and there to the people that she knew and to anyone else who noticed the cheerful pair and bestowed a smile on them. They made their way towards the food tables. Kaimi hadn't realized just how hungry she had been. So consumed with Zimrith's needs and Zimrith's hunger, her stomach was now gurgling of its own accord.

Naressa

Reciproth and Naressa had gotten ready and she had braided her hair to keep her bangs out of her face and the rest of her hair fell in tumbling lengths to her waist. She walked through the doorway, dragon in toe and she was beaming with excitement and her dragonet was walking proudly and tall beside her. His lithe form matching her own in ways and the walked with a grace that was almost fluid.

She looked around and felt a pang of sadness, Fiolen was no longer there and she really had no one else as a friend right now. She had cleared the air with Becka but it wasn't like her relationship with Fiolen.

'Don't worry Mine, I'm sure you'll make friends.'

She looked over at him with a smile as she felt her dragons hunger radiate through her. It was strange, how their emotions were intertwined like this. It made her feel like she was a part of something more than herself. She grabbed up some pieces of meat for Reciproth and some food for herself.

T'rel grinned at S'aen. He approved of the serious, focused expression the boy had donned while listening to his instructions. He studied Kaimi, briefly, before frowning. "Do make sure she won't be caught on that, won't you?" He asked, gesturing to the wreath around Zimrith's neck. Hatchlings were fragile their first few sevendays of life. He didn't want to see the dragonet tripping or catching a wingtip on something. "Kaimi, its been a while," he added, winking playfully as he noticed her making her way towards the food tables. He'd met the girl in the harper hall once before. "Go eat, before S'aen eats it all!" He had no doubt the fish steaks would be gone before the Weyrleader arrived. Served him right!

He left his place at the table and made his way over to Naressa. The poor girl seemed lost! A feeling he certainly could relate to. He remembered the day he had Impressed Zelith. The bronze had tipped himself over and gotten caught in the sands by a wingtip. T'rel had gone to help, ignoring the candidatemaster's instructions. Afterward, he hadn't been quite sure what to do with himself.

"He's a lovely fellow," he said, reaching for a plate himself. He took a thick cut of the fish steak, then a bubblypie. He grinned at her, "I'll teach you how to feed him without choking him in the morning. There's properly sized pieces here."

Kaimi

Kaimi gave T'rel a flirtatious wink and made sure to sashay her hips just a little bit more as she passed by him. "Don't worry, I'll keep her safe." She said, grinning and continuing towards the food.

I'm perfectly safe, mine. Zimrith said a bit tartly. I am also perfectly beautiful. She picked up her feet a little more in a prance. The dragon was proud of her flowers. She had noticed, in her brief time out of the shell, that human women liked to wear pretty things around their necks. Well, Zimrith could give any of them a run for their money!

Yes you are. And yes, you are. Kaimi smiled at Zimrith, placing a possessive hand on the elegant curve of the hatchling's neck. Now lets get you fed. Again.

Yes, mine. And we shall feed you as well. Draconic nostrils flared. There are strange smells. Not-meat smells. Do you eat not-meat, mine? Zimrith nosed a bubbly pie, the heat of the crust against her muzzle making her back up and sneeze.

Kaila was wondering to attend the feast at all, but her green dragon, Maith was determined to meet the new dragonriders and their dragons, even if hers was being very shy at the moment.

Mine, we are attending. It would be very rude to not attend. The green tried to reason with hers. Kaila sighed and nodded, "I'l attend, but if my brother is attending, I will avoid him."

Mine, perhaps you two should talk? Maith didn't understand the issues between the siblings, the issues steaming from the time that both had impressed. However, even the green knew Kaila would prefer to be alone than near R'mera. Though the blue rider and his dragon often avoided gathers and feast entirely. Fine, mine. Make sure you dress somewhat nice. Why not wear your metal pendent?

Kaila considered Maith's advice and grabbed her pendent and a simple dress before getting ready quick. Maith went with her towards the feast, but Kaila noticed, Maith looking toward R'mera' weyr. "You worried about him?"

He is your brother, mine. Go to the feast, I'll check on R'mera and his blue. Kaila nodded before heading into the feast. She looked around, deciding to wait till the others got their plate to get her own. She spotted T'rel and waved in his direction.

Ashlyn

Ashlyn had come in and heard T'rel's speech, though she was pretty sure it was the same one she heard when she herself became a rider. She walked over to the table with the food, wondering when T'anis and her sister would find her. Well, she would be patient, they were bound to meet up with her soon. She noticed Kaila and waved to her and she gave a small wave to T'rel as well.

Ashlyn, do not forget to have fun, okay?Gyafrith thought to her from outside.

Don't worry, I will have fun. You worry too much, this isn't like when it was the gathering, she assured back to him.

“One moment,” Jemi muttered, finishing the knot in the length of cord keeping Wen’s braid tidy and coiled the white blond hair up and pinned it in place. “There.” She nodded, stepping back and bent down to let her watch partner straighten the high collar of her dress uniform jacket. She never managed to get it as straight as it should be.

Irith question, raising her glaze from talking to Wyleth, a rather witty and at times charming blue. She would keep an eye on her brother, he might be worth having as a friend. The green looked over her bondmate, eyes whirling as she examined the deep brown uniform, stripped with white piping. Irith paused, noting the rich green tunic just peeping from the jacket hem.

Jemi looked over Irith, still beaming, over the moon and completed. Irith had filled something she never knew she was missing, and yet despite the warmth, smitten, possessive and alien touch in her head, two of the list she never felt with Wen, she hadn’t forgot him.

Jemi was sure if she had a lover, they would have been trampled by her love for Irith, but the comfort and trust in her watch partner wasn’t fading, if anything the fact they had impressed together, that she had someone she could impeccably trust outside of Irith in the air or on the ground just solidified it.

She looked over the spread, half listening to T’rel wondering how a glass of wine was supposed to cause anything and half snorted at romance. Jemi would work on keeping her teasing down low. But… the food. She looked over the spread, remembering how long it had been between meals. Fish? Jemi headed towards the feast, picking pieces of food in quick precision and favoring things that could be eaten politely with fingers.

Weyr Harper

T'rel caught her off guard almost and she looked over at him and smiled at his comment about Reciproth. "Yes he is. I'm very proud of him." She grabbed a bubblypie and she was excited to learn how to take care of him. "I'm anxious to learn and I want to take care of Reciproth the best I can."

She noticed the buckets of perfectly sized meat and she knew he had to be hungry. She was starved and she knew that is was a mixture of both their stomachs and she looked around for a spot to sit. "I'm Naressa." She'd offer her hand in greeting but they were full at the moment.

Hesper hesitated at the entrance to the festal hall. Usually such a social and bubbly girl, this new presence in her mind was taking some getting used to, and she wasn't entirely certain she felt ready to face other people. She sort of felt like she wanted to spend all her time with Adeth, she didn't want to share him. She just wanted to get to know him.

We will have lots of time alone together, Mine. Adeth said, nuzzling against her side comfortingly. But I should like to show you off. Your dress matches my hide so nicely.

This last comment teased a giggle out of Hesper, and she felt that shell of defensiveness cracking and her old self re-emerging. He was right, after all. She looked around the festal hall noticing the tables groaning with food and the candidates milling around with their newly bonded dragons.

"Okay then, Adeth. I'm ready to face them." Bending down slightly, she placed a kiss on the top of the silvery blue's head.

Bacha danced from foot to foot outside her brother's new temporary weyr. She wanted to go with him to the feast. "C'mon Balchas! What are you doing in there? You're going to be late getting your knots!" Her eyes twinkled as she skipped around, not caring who might see her. To think! She'd come back to the Weyr just in time to see her brother Impress! It couldn't get better than that. Well, except if you had Impressed too, a traitorous part of her mind whispered. Hush! I'm happy he's got a dragon! Bacha firmly squashed it and called out again. "Slow poke! I hope you're not putting her in a dress!"

Balchas knew Bacha was out there before she spoke, he cold hear her inpatient shifting from foot to foot and he laughed. "In a minute Bacha!" he called to her "Just finishing up oiling Casinth" he informed her, rubbing the last patch on her hide that needed it, she practically gleamed with health and happiness. He'd hoped he'd be sharing the happy moment with Bacha and HER dragon but she hadn't found her bonded at this hatching, he felt slightly guilty that she hadn't but Casinth had banished that feeling with another warm rush of love. His arm had been rebandaged, the longest gash having needed a couple of stitches but it was nothing that wouldn't heal given time.

There, Casinth was perfect, well she was already perfect but he'd oiled every inch of her hide ready for the feast. "Just getting dressed and we'll be right out" he said, hurrying with his Feast finery, well... it wasn't Gather finery but it was better than his day to day clothing. When he was done he didn't announce it to Bacha, instead striding out with Casinth beside him "Well, how do i look?" he asked, beaming a great big smile before grabbing his little sister up into a big hug.

Becka had been trying to delay, she didn't want to face T'rel, the Weyrlingmaster would be a smug pain in her backside but Taikirth wasn't letting her dawdle. Fed and Oiled she wasnt about to let Becka make her late for the feast, there were people there, dragons there, all ready to admire her. She wasn't going to let Becka spoil that, oh she loved Becka but Hers needed to get out more.

COME ON MYBECKA she complained as Becka fiddled with the dress that Taikirth had decided was best. It was Healer Green and Becka had been saving it for when she walked the Tables, however that seemed unlikely now so it had seem fitting she wear it to the feast celebrating the new Dragonriders. "Just a minute Taikirth, just brushing my hair" instead of having it tied back as usual she had let it down, freshly washed it crackled with static as she brushed the knots out. She actually looked rather pretty but she wouldn't see it that way.

"No time like the present" she murmured, Finally Taikirth crooned and leaned her head against Becka's hip, relishing the contact for a moment, the claw marks on her side cleaned and slathered in Numbweed, Becka had been given instruction on how to look after Taikirth's wounds, being a Healer before Impression meant that she was entrusted to remember what to do but had been made to promise to come if she was concerned about anything. Together they made their way to the Feast, Taikirth with only the merest of limps thanks to the tender care of the Dragonhealers and Hers, and of course the numbweed taking care of any pain.

She missed was in the entrance as T'rel ended his speech and gestured to the tables. Taikirth holding her head high, small as she was, making herself taller. Becka contemplated ignoring T'rel and heading straight to the tables but she sighed, he was the Weyrlingmaster now, it would be rude to. "T'rel" she said as she moved towards the man, praying he wouldn't be TOO smug.

His minute was taking forever! Bacha puffed out her cheeks about to hallar for him again. Well of course he would want his green to look her best. Not that she could blame him. She rolled her eyes when informed he was now getting dressed. And people complained females took forever! Then suddenly there he was!

Bacha gave a squeal of glee as she saw him emerge. "Perfect!" She happily returned his hug, then squirmed for release. "Your girl is stunning too," she teased him with a sly look. "You haven't introduced us yet. Shame on you." Her grin as wide as her face would allow, belied any scolding tone.
