Let us now talk about the Card Battle System. All enemy encounters in this game are fought with the Card Battle System. Don't worry too much about damage calculation, I will explain this later with our damage calculator. This is just a breakdown of what cards are and how to keep/ organize and archive them!
Your main deck consists of nine cards. This is the deck you will be using for battles. Cards not used in the main deck are stored away in your side/storage deck. Each card is given a rank and a statistic. Rank is at the top of the card. Statistics are at the bottom of the card. Statistics are broken into four categories: ATTACK, DEFENSE, HEAL, or LUCK.
Your side deck is simply your storage/extra cards. These are cards you have obtained over progress in game by defeating monsters or completing side quests. All cards you win automatically go to your side deck as you can only have 9 cards in your MAIN deck at a time. You may swap over side deck cards at any point in time between battles. It means you can rearrange your deck in your log even if you are in battle but you YOU CANNOT SWAP YOUR DECK WHILE IN BATTLE. Once you start a new battle, you can use your new rearranged deck for that fight, even if you are in progress in another fight with an old version of your deck! Side deck progress is kept in your [ BATTLE ENTRY LOG ]
Cards can only be swapped of the same rank number. It doesn't matter what type of statistic the card has, it only has to have the SAME RANK NUMBER. You also of course need to own this card.
You cannot swap over cards of different ranks. This would cause rank duplicates in your main deck and that is a no! TIP: When you have obtained a new card don't forget to add it to your BATTLE ENTRY LOG.
[ RANK ] All cards have a rank. The numbers range from 1 - 9. This represents the ORDER it has in your deck. A card ranked 9 is the 9th card in your deck. A card ranked 1 is the first card in your deck. A card ranked 2 is the second, a card ranked 3 is the third, all the way up to 9th. You can only have one card of each rank.
You cannot have multiple cards of the same rank in your main deck. It means you need to have one card of each rank: rank 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9.
When you are in battle, you will be rolling 3d10 on your turn. That is three 10-sided dice. Your dice rolls correspond to your card's rank. So for example, if you roll 2, 4, 5 cards ranked 2, rank 4, and rank 5 from your main deck will be chosen, as indicated in the orange box in the above diagram. You will apply the stats of those cards for that turn as indicated in the green box. If you roll 2, 3, 3, you will pick cards ranked 2, 3 and then rank 3 again (doubles). Once again you must have 9 cards in your main deck to play or you will be disqualified. If you roll a 10 that is considered a miss. I means you don't get a card for each 10 you roll, so rolling a 2, 5, 10 would equal the RANK 2 card in your main deck, the RANK 5 one and then a MISS. - Now let's talk about STATISTICS.
- Attack cards do damage to opponents. The higher your attack card, the more damage you do! They are characterized by saying ATTACK at the bottom. The number next to the ATTACK is the damage you do with the card. So if your card you roll says ATTACK 4, you do 4 damage with that card. - Keep in mind as you roll for three cards this round, it is possible to for example, roll ATTACK 2 and ATTACK 5. That means you do 2+5 = 7 damage TOTAL this round. - Reminder! The RANK at the top of the card represents the dice roll. That means in order for me to get this ATTACK card in the image above, I must have rolled a 2 as one of my 3 10-sided dice. This card must be in my MAIN DECK.
- Defense cards protect you OR another player from damage. The higher your defense card, the more defense you do! They are characterized by saying DEFENSE at the bottom. The number next to the DEFENSE is the defense you do with the card. So if your card you roll says DEFENSE 3, you defend for 3 damage. - The damage defended is effective your next turn or the next turn of the person you are defending. Make sure to quote the user. - Keep in mind as you roll for three cards this round, it is possible to for example, roll DEFENSE 2 and DEFENSE 5. That means you do 2+5 = 7 defense TOTAL this round. You cannot partition defense. That means EITHER you defend yourself for 7 or you defend someone else for 7. You cannot defend yourself for 2 and someone else for 5 on the same turn for example. - Reminder! The RANK at the top of the card represents the dice roll. That means in order for me to get this DEFENSE card in the image above, I must have rolled a 8 as one of my 3 10-sided dice. This card must be in my MAIN DECK.
- Healing cards heal you OR another player from damage. The higher your heal card, the more healing you do! They are characterized by saying HEALS at the bottom. The number next to the HEALS is the heals you do with the card. So if your card you roll says HEALS 5, you heal for 5 damage. - The damage healed is applied to your HP. If you are targeting another user make sure you QUOTE THAT USER so they know to heal themselves. - Keep in mind as you roll for three cards this round, it is possible to for example, roll HEAL 2 and HEAL 5. That means you do 2+5 = 7 heals TOTAL this round. You cannot partition heals. That means EITHER you heals yourself for 7 or you heals someone else for 7. You cannot heal yourself for 2 and someone else for 5 on the same turn for example. - Reminder! The RANK at the top of the card represents the dice roll. That means in order for me to get this HEALS card in the image above, I must have rolled a 3 as one of my 3 10-sided dice. This card must be in my MAIN DECK.
- Luck cards are very special cards indeed. If you roll a luck card the number after LUCK is the MULTIPLIER you do for another card you rolled THIS TURN. So if you rolled LUCK 2 and then ATTACK 1, ATTACK 5, you may choose to multiply either the attack 1 or attack 5. So instead of doing 5 damage this round, you do 10 damage OR 2 damage. If this there was a heal card you would choose attack OR heals, etc etc. It is up to you which one but you can only pick one card you rolled that turn to use.
- If you roll MORE than one luck card in the same turn however, they become void. That means they do not do anything, just like rolling a 10. It is a bit of a gamble! - So for example, if you roll 2, 4, 5 and RANK 2 is a luck card, RANK 5 is an attack card that does 5 attack, and RANK 4 is a luck card, you only do 5 attack this turn and that is it. The two luck cards cancel each other out and are not activated! .

Enemy encounter! Let us do battle with the card battle system in mind! It is time to initiate battle mode! Remember that you can fight mobs, enter dungeons or go on Raids HERE
Assemble a Main Deck. Keep track of your main deck in your gaia_crown[ BATTLE ENTRY LOG ]. Now from your BATTLE ENTRY LOG copy and paste the contents of your Main Deck into OOC of your post and make your attack/defense/heals post in the thread. It should look something like this:

Do not forget to in the SAME POST, roll 3 10-sided dice. Don't worry about the other stats yet other than getting the card AND the dice roll. When you have done so, then you may hit SUBMIT.
Don't forget to EDIT YOUR POST. Make the RP meaningful. Usually, to help other players who are waiting on you, please RP your post AFTER you have done damage calculation. Let us go to damage calculation then! Battle posts MUST have RP to qualify, even if it is just a couple of lines!
All right, let's take a look at my dice rolls. Now it is time to initiate project MOB DAMAGE CALCULATOR, because yes, the person who created this system is not above creating a calculator just for the card system that possibly took way too many ungodly hours so she is forcing everyone to use it now.
Load the page exclaimBATTLE DAMAGE CALCULATOR HERE. First thing you'll see is a very daunting looking page which isn't that bad, but looks daunting because forms.
Okay, let's go from top to bottom. - First, the easy part. Input the boss's HP. Take the last Boss HP value of the person above you. Insert it into CURRENT BOSS'S HP . - Next, post your current HP. - Then post the damage you took or the auto damage from the boss. Auto damage means the damage the boss or mob automatically does. If there is no auto damage just leave it blank. - Lastly, if you defended yourself last turn or were defended by another player, you can insert the defense. If this is not applicable just leave it blank.
So far it should look like this, assuming the boss's HP from the person above me is 100 HP, my HP is 30, auto damage done from boss is 5, and I was defended for 5 last round:
Now, let's check my Gaia rolls that I did when posting that post. I rolled 3, 8 and 4. Let's pull out those corresponding cards by matching it to my OOC post:
Each card has an order. The first one rolled is the [ First Dice Stat ], the second is the [ Second Dice Stat ], the third is the [ Third Dice Stat ].
Since I rolled a 3 first, let us look at my rank 3 card, the [ First Dice Stat]:
This is an attack card. I am going to select ATTACK as the first dice type. For it's value, I will put in 4 as it is 4 damage done. Next I will select a target. An attack's target is always the boss. Defense and heals cannot target the boss. So it should look like this:
Next I rolled a 8, let us look at my rank 8 card, the [ Second Dice Stat]:
This is a luck card. I am going to select LUCK as the second attack dice. For it's value, I will put in 2 as it is a x2 multiplier. For luck cards, I do not need to select a target. Just select whatever. So it should look like this:
Lastly I rolled a 4, let us look at my rank 4 card, the [ Third Dice Stat]:
This is a attack card. I am going to select attack as the third attack dice. For it's value, I will put 4 for 4 attack. Once again, select boss as the target. So it should look like this:
All right, you are almost done. Trust me, once you get the hang of this, things will be so much easier. It's also very iphone/android friendly since all you need to do is input values and copy/paste. Anyway, at the very bottom of the form there is a thing that says USE LUCK ON. In this situation my [ Second dice Stat ] was my luck dice. That means I can use luck on my [ First dice stat ] or my [ Third dice stat ]. - If I do not have a Luck card this turn, I would hit not applicable. - Since they are both 4 attack it doesn't matter. I'm just going to select the first one.
Okay I can finally hit the stupid submit form! Let's do this! Remember if you make a mistake you can always hit the back button and try again! I hit mine and it looks like:
You can read the stats if you want, otherwise just take the form that was generated and copy and paste it. REPLACE it with what you currently have in your OOC post. Make sure however that you still have your card images for your main deck. If should look something like this:

I notice Steve is looking a little beat up so I am going to give my defense to him. My defense card is [ Dice Roll 1]. In the [ Dice Roll 1]'s dropdown menu, I am going to pick First Dice Target as Another player. When you hit submit the ooc form will prompt you at the bottom to quote the player. Don't forget to do that!
I did NOT get a luck card this time so I will choose NOT APPLICABLE at the bottom of the form where it says USE LUCK ON. My form should look like this. Duplicates of cards rolled still count as long as they are not luck cards! Also make sure for attack cards the target is always the boss.
Well that's all done! Let's generate the code now!

Well, that's it! Just keep on rolling and pasting until you have defeated the opponent. For full encounter bosses GMed, please wait until the GM has posted a new round before rolling again, where applicable. If the GM says you can roll 3 times this round, go ahead and do so and post three dif forms/ rp them out, etc.
- At the end of defeating a boss you will most likely get LOOT. Simply roll for loot where applicable. Add it your gaia_crown[ BATTLE ENTRY LOG ]. It usually takes the form of EXTRA CARDS. You may go ahead and edit your deck where applicable with your NEW LOOT GAINS.

[ Ability Cards ] are special cards that are handed out in this event in quests or battlezone boss drops. Ability cards are bound to user and cannot be traded. They take up a special ability card slot which is not a part of the 9 cards in your deck, so don't worry about making room for them!
Ability cards can not be stacked on top of each other. That means if you have 3 of them you have to use them once each turn. You cannot apply 2 or more ability cards on the same turn. Ability cards unless mentioned in their description effects cannot be targeted at another player. They do NOT take up a turn meaning you post the ability card first and then roll/ apply the effect(s) as necessary. Make sure you store them in your [ Battle Entry Log ] as well a link to where you got it from!
[ Step 1 ]: From your [ Battle Entry Log ], identify the ability card you want to use.
[ Step 2 ]: Post the card in the battle. Make a separate post just for using the ability card. RP out your character selecting an ability card using their Pocket Card selector or just a voice command.
[ Step 3 ]: If applicable, when using the battle damage calculator, apply the effect, as the damage calculator does NOT include abilities. For instance if your ability card said double your attack dice this turn, instead of inputting 3 attack, you would input 6. Note: Some abilities say to double your TOTAL damage done. That means hit the submit for the battle calculator, look at your total damage done, and then double it. Adjust the boss's HP accordingly and then submit your ooc form.
[ Step 4 ]: Remember that unless stated otherwise, ability cards can only be used once per turn. You are responsible for tracking your ability card(s) properly! You can use as many as you want. Remember, ability cards CANNOT stack, so if you have an ability card that lasts 5 turns and you use a second ability card on turn 3 when the original one is still active, it will nullify your first ability card.

Just a note if you have an ability card that persists throughout the battle like:
And you use another card that is limited use such as:
The persisting card will not cancel out the limited card. This is the ONLY time two effects are okay. Cards that are limited per use once again cannot be stacked and that INCLUDES cards that last X amount of turns. The only ones that can stack are the ones that clearly say lasts the entire battle duration.
