Well I've been trying to hatch a shiny honeedge for roughly a month or two. Prior to this I got a shiny kangaskahn in like 6 eggs when I was breeding for one and it got me thinking what other luck have people had with shinies? Besides the kangaskahn i've only ever found a shiny octillery as well in this game, never found any shinies besides in y ;_; And the two times I found them in gold in which one I wasn't carrying enough pokeballs to catch and the other I ran from cause i thought it was a glitch (Doh!)

It has to do with your odds and the compatibility of the two pokemon you are breeding. Are they both from a different country? It took me 3 boxes to hatch a shiny furfrou. The male was french and the female japanese. They were compatable. I caught my first shiny in sapphire. I now have it on X. I've been trying to breed shiny eevee myself. I have a shiny female one from japan and that should up my odds some. See it's all about odds. A shiny honedge does look awesome and I plan on trying for one myself.

The only shiny I have ever seen in the wild and caught was a Slugma in Fire Red. I have never hatched a shiny although I have tried so much.

it most definitely is about odds I have breed quite a few Pokemon since I've been play my Pokemon Y game and have had a lot of good luck
most of the shiny Pokemon I have got from other games were either through events at places like gamestop and of course the two in game for Pokemon white 2
on lucky side I accidentally caught a shiny tentacool in my emerald game and a shiny bouffalant in my Pokemon white game.
good odds and luck play a big part in the shiny hunt

Curtis25 The only shiny I have ever seen in the wild and caught was a Slugma in Fire Red. I have never hatched a shiny although I have tried so much. Odds and compatibility. I have bred a single shiny. It hard but just keep at it. Most of mine are from trades.

Only shinies I have caught were a Metagross on my White version and a Zangoose on my X.

Yes yes I know all about Mesuda method mad I am personally doing another play through now after transferring my pokemon to a friend so I can get the legendary in my game again as well as try to complete the national dex for a shiny charm since that helps even more in shiny breeding.

I have ALOT of luck with finding random shinies.. But a lot of bad luck too gonk One time, at the beginning of Emerald, I found a shiny Wurmple after I got my pokeballs and I caught it, but then the gameboy died and I was so disappointed. But later that day, I found two more shinies... It was a shiny Skitty and Poocheyena. I have a lot of luck ewe

For the most Part I'm pretty luck with shinies. I've breed 5 shinies without trying, Traded for 6, and found 12 at random. I have two interesting Shiny glitches that I've experienced.
Once in Heart Gold a Fisherman Sparkled like he was a shiny. I remember how amazed I was. He wasn't a different color or anything. He just sparkled. Aftewr the battle the game showed his Sprite again and he didn't sparkle. He never sparkled for me again which is somewhat disappointing.
My second shiny glitch was 100% luck. On my first file of Fire Red, Caterpie was glitched out. I couldn't only find Shiny ones. I ened up farming the Golden Bug and ended up with 1 regular one. I always refer to the regular one as my first shiny see that I only found one on that file. It was a great feeling to have 39 (I believe that's how many I capture) caterpies. But Alas, through a series of events my game file was erased and I never got the chance to send them to Pearl, White and so on. I do have a Shiny Butterfree but it was obtain by trade
The Unluckiest Shiny encounter I ever witnessed was a friend of mine Capture a Shiny Gyarados. Sadly it was at the lake of Rage.

I hatched a shiny meowth which is now a Persian. I also have other shinys via world trade. You could try there.

Friend Safaris are good places to catch shinies because there are only a max of three Pokemon you can find in there you just have to be patient. I was looking for shiny Riolu because he is one of my favorites and found 2 shiny throh in the safari before i found the shiny Riolu haha

I was leveling up babies by one-hit killing everything I found outside the Battle Chateau. I wasn't looking (because mass Pokemon genocide is always boring to us First Gen sweatdrop ) think I was watching a video or something when I notice my game give out a flash of light.
"wtf?" I look down and see a White Flabebe. Nothing looked special about it. But I figured, what the hay. I put away my mad dog killer and took out a weaker Pokemon then caught it.
I had to heal it and take it out in to battle to be sure. Yep, it was a shiny and it's only changed feature is brighter blue eyes and it's lower body being lavender.
It doesn't have much color TOO change so I'm not sure what I expected only that I wasn't looking for one and I had almost killed it without a second thought.
....I felt sorry for it crying ..... named it Wedding Bell

I haven't found a shiny in the wild since... geez, Silver version. It was an Ursaring.
In pokemon Y, however, I've bred 3 shiny pokemon without actively attempting to do so. First was a pichu when I was chain breeding to pass wish on to something; I didn't notice it was shiny because the color change was so freaking subtle. About a month later I was clearing out my boxes, releasing some of the extras when I noticed the little red star in it's stat box.
I bred a shiny Abra, even with it's hidden ability and 4 maxed IVs, but with minimum IV in HP.
I then bred a shiny Vulpix while I was breeding one for someone else. I was sad when it didn't have Drought, but I still trained it because shiny Ninetails is majestic.

All my randomly encountered shinies were green garbage. Mr. Mime, Tentacool, and Scizor (which I hatched as Scyther, still green though!). The Scizor had a Gentle nature, the Tentacool had a Lax nature, and the Mr. Mime was probably Adamant knowing my luck. I kinda wish I kept them, but whatever. xD

My first shiny I was on Iron Island level grinding with Riley in Diamond and a green golbat popped up, i shat bricks. I killed Rileys' lucario so it wouldnt ******** it up for me, I murdered its graveler partner, lowered its health, and i had no pokeballs, I wanted to kill myself and ever since that day i carry 40 pokeballs on me
My first caught shiny was a shiny Cherrim in Platinum and i pretty much cried of happiness.
Then a Mareep in Soul Silver.
XY has definitely been the most profitable
