The sun was out, the snow was melting, and the birds were resuming their song. Truffles couldn't help but to feel the effects of the coming spring. She hoped her brother was enjoying the same kind of day, wherever he may be... She couldn't let herself linger on that thought though. It was a new day, with a fresh scent on the breeze.
The small eevee child looked up at the warm sun and gave it a small smile. It was good to feel that familiar touch again. ...It was also nice to not be half frozen from lacking a jacket anymore!
She headed further into the forest, away from the harshness within the cities, where she could feel the space around her. Hearing her shoes squish on the ground, she looked down and yelped in surprise. Another eevee girl!! Wait... that eevee was dressed just like her. ..It was her reflection. Glad that no one had seen that, she growled at the reflection playfully and jumped right into it, laughing as the water splashed up around her; the drops glittering like gems in the sunlight.

Briar hadn't been thrilled with the storm that had passed through the region a short time ago. The thunder had been loud and frightening and she'd cowered against Draven for some of it. Some of it she simply pulled a pillow over her head and went to sleep eventually. That was better than the loud booms that startled her every time they sounded off!
Today though...the cabin felt too confined what with there being four of them in the place. She had chosen a moment everyone was busy and slipped outside with a relieved sort of sigh. She liked it here really she did...but sometimes having a little breathing room was nice.
She wasn't quite as timid as she'd been even in the recent past. It helped she had learned a new move and had been practicing with it, it helped her feel more confident and less likely to wind up helpless in a bad situation.
Pushing away from the cabin before someone else came out and stopped her from going off on her own for a time she took off at a quick run, carefully avoiding the puddles that dotted the ground not wanting to get totally dirty.
As she ran she felt a sense of freedom well up in her, and she couldn't help but grin a little, spinning in a circle once she was a decent distance from the cabin. This was... nice. She didn't crave solitude often but today was one of those days.
Oblivious to the fact there was another girl not far off she slowed her run into more of a leisurely walk, stopping to admire flowers that were pushing up through the damp ground, looking close to blooming.

Giggling softly, Truffles allowed herself to smile. She hadn't had the chance to be like this in some time. Just.. free.
Violet eyes widened when a flicker of bright purple caught her attention. She automatically dropped down, one knee in the muck, and sought out the new arrival. It.. was another pokechild! For real this time, rather than just a reflection! It wasn't an eevee though. Her ears perked at the cute little dress. That didn't seem like a run-through-the-woods outfit.
Realizing she hadn't been seen, she crept along the ground toward the other child, and peeked around a thick tree trunk, feeling droplets fall from the branches above. "Do you live here?" she asked with curious eyes.

Briar was busy peering at a bush that looked like it was going to produce berries keeping a mental note of it so she could come back and pick them when they were ripe. She was sure the others at the cabin would enjoy fresh berries to eat, or to use in cooking!
There was a gasp of surprise as she heard an unfamiliar voice behind her, a slight spark from her as she near stumbled into the bushes, looking back into the eyes watching her.
"N...no...not here but not far." well the cabin wasn't too far off. Not in sight currently, but still shouting distance if she needed anyone.

Truffles had to press her lips tight to hold back a laugh as the other nearly fell into the bushes. However, the moment she noticed the spark, she stiffened and ducked back behind the tree more, now glaring suspiciously. No... she was just being paranoid.
"Not far.." she repeated, looking off into the woods. Finally, she stepped out from behind the tree, but kept her distance as she circled around the other girl for inspection. "What're you doin'? Nuthin' on that bush you were staring at."

The other girl glaring wasn't a nice feeling and it made her sort of grasp at her tail a little, watching her warily as she was suddenly circled.
"It looks like a berry bush, so I was looking at it to see how close it might be to having berries on it...and trying to memorize where it was for when it was time." she blinked at the other then. "Are you from around here? My friend and I got here not all that long ago so I don't know if we have neighbors or not."

Cocking her head, Truffles gave an accepting nod. That was a sensible reason. ...Maybe she should keep it in mind as well, in case her own findings fell through.
When the questions came at her, she pressed her lips again and twitched her tail. "Not really, no. From somewhere. Not here. Just passin' through." She crossed her arms and shook her head. "Ain't seen nobody but you around here."

Had she just passed some sort of test? It sure felt like it as the sudden tension in the air eased!
"Ohhh okay. There might not be others around. I haven't explored around the area a whole lot. The city isn't far off I know though." though she did prefer to avoid it.
Her attention shifted back to the bush. "It's too bad the bushes aren't in season...I think this one might be blackberries." she sounded hopeful about it!

Wrinkling her nose at the mention of the city, she gave another small nod. "The city can stay where it is. Doesn't need to reach out here." She cocked her head, looking over to the bush behind the other girl. "They'll come 'round soon, with the weather warming up and all."
They were having a normal conversation.... Weird.

Well it seemed the other girl didn't like the city anymore than she did. That was a good thing she supposed. "You're right it can stay there. Too noisy and busy and dirty." and down right frightening honestly. Here in the forest by the lake was perfect.
"I'm Briar, nice to meet you!" she beamed suddenly at the other girl, head tipping a little. "You're really pretty." she was! She'd never seen an Eevee before...or well eevee-human. Still.

Oh. Nice to see someone else who didn't like the city. Then there was no connection! Good. "And full of jerks," she grumped, kicking the toe of a shoe against the ground.
The suddenly perky attittude caught Truffles off guard, and her eyes widened in surprise. Never mind the faint blush that rose along her cheeks. Was it nice to meet her? Was she pretty? "Umm, thanks," she said hesitantly, tail swaying slowly. "My name's Truffles." Should she return the compliment? Briar was certainly adorable, but she wasn't one to say such things! Aatami was the only one to get a compliment from her. "...Aren't you worried about your dress getting muddy?" Smooth words from a girl with mud on her only pair of pants...

"Is it? I don't know, I've only been through the city a couple times." in a car...and very short periods of time at that. So she hadn't really interacted with anyone.
"You're welcome!" she beamed at the other girl though she looked down at her dress and shook her head. "Oh no. If it gets dirty I can go home and change and wash it. Besides I'm pretty careful...and I really only have dresses anyhow." she eyed Truffles' outfit. "You know...even though you're taller than me, you'd probably still fit this one dress I have...it's kinda long on me...if you want it anyhow?"

Truffles nodded. Yes. The city was full of jerks, and creeps, and weirdos.
A tiny smile rose. It wasn't often that she found herself taller than another child. She was a fairly short package herself. Her brow knit, and she shook her head. "What would I do with a dress? Just get it dirty and torn. Catch it on everything." She frowned slightly. What would a certain guy think of her in a dress? ... EWW!! "No. I don't wear dresses."

"Oh...well if you're sure. You don't seem to be traveling with anything extra, so I thought maybe the dress to wear so you could wash those ones would help." she looked thoughtful. No she didn't suppose she could get one of Draven's outfits from his closet, and Rhyin was much too tall...and Claret well she was a pokemon so no clothes there.
Well that idea was a bust!

Truffles winced as Briar touched on the truth. She didn't have anything extra. Maybe it would be nice to be able to wash her clothes without herself still being in them... But a dress? "Umm.. thanks for asking, though," she murmured, ears falling slightly. Aatami would have called her stubborn right then.
She hesitated further, and mentally groaned. Dang it, Aatami... "Umm.. maybe I could try it on? Just to see what it's like. I'm not saying I'll take it. Just wanna see if it would fit."
