Neena was sad. She had been trying hard to fight it every day, looking for new ways to enjoy one as it passed by, setting herself little challenges like trying to fly a certain distance or height, or spending the day trying to find the first bloom of different kinds of flowers..or even just chasing the birds.
But eventually she had landed, folded her wings and just resigned herself to walking, her head slightly down, little tail dipping - she'd lost the urge to fly and now spent her time on the ground. She was lonely and she had to face it, no matter how many friendly faces she met, she couldn't seem to make any sort of meaningful connection, or find a place to call her home and it was beginning to dent even her usually upbeat nature.
It was a fine spring morning that found her standing at the edge of a large, flat grass plain. The sun was fairly warm, and new shoots of green were waving in the breeze. The grass was dotted with early spring flowers and it was a pretty picture overall. She just stared at it though, and it was a while before she even thought of moving. Eventually, she registered that she was hungry and slowly started to graze, chewing on mouthfuls of grass in a half-hearted fashion as she decided what she would do (if anything) and where she would travel to next.

The stallion was rolling around in the grass. It was spring! It was spring! The bright flowers, the green fresh grass, the wonderful smelling breeze. It was about time it started coming back again. It was harsh during the winter and all he dreamed about what that wonderful spring restart.
Canter stopped rolling in the grass,he plopped over to his right side and huffed and puffed as he looked off into the distance. The only thing sucky was...no company. Callie came around and so did her daughter. But they didn't stay long enough to have a great time. Companion time. They stopped by to give him goodies and see how he was doing.Which was really nice...the existence of laughter and love next to him every day, just kept over his heart.
No matter how much he loved being alone, the alone time was really great. Being alone all the time wasn't.Canter seemed like a very outgoing laughing male on the outside,on the inside he was more than a little depressed. He didn't let it show.He was more about making happiness and laughter, rather then making others dwell and feel sorry for him.It wasn't what he was about. Happiness. That's all he ever dreamed of. He had met a lot of mares, stallions here and there.Though even if a stallions friendship was more worth while, because most of the time they had more in common.Mares,he loved their company. Always so gentle, relieved by his presence.
Canter always believed he made everyone happy, but there were the ones that he could never make happy.

Neena stifled a yawn, and then in the next moment, snapped at a fly that was buzzing around her head. She huffed at the bothersome insect and when it wouldn't leave her along, she finally unfurled one wing and felt a measure of satisfaction when she caught it and sent it flying away.
'Annoyance..' she murmured after it, shaking her head. Ugh..she really needed something to lighten her spirits or she felt she would spend the day being bothered by and fretting at trivial little things. Like flies..she shook her mane out, looking sideways to see if she could catch sight of any tiny bodies barrelling towards her and after deciding that a moving target would be trickier to annoy, she started slowly walking.
She didn't have any real direction in mind, just meandered across the plain, her hooves occasionally catching flowers, scattering petals when she did so. Neena did occasionally look around, mindful that she should at least be slightly aware of her surroundings even in her current mood, and she paused when she spotted what looked like a moving mound of earth in the distance. She squinted, trying to work out what it was, debating as well whether to actually move closer to investigate.

Once the stallion relaxed on the ground. He could barely be seen in the semi tall grass around him.He wondered if he should get up and get a small drink from the stream near by.It would be something nice and refreshing from the spring. As a slight breeze picked up,the stallion slowly stood up to his full height.
Shaking out his light brown mane,he closed his eyes and stood there.Taking in the breeze, flaring his nostrils. It felt nice. Relaxing. As soon as he opened his eyes and turned towards to go to the stream. He noticed a set of eyes and a gorgeous mare staring at him. No way was he in her league. Way out of her league. She looked so wonderful from far away, but she could probably look just as gorgeous up close.
Canter tossed his mane and whinnied out to her. He wondered if she would respond to a normal like he was.So much different then her.He didn't have nothing besides his big rump, hair, and feathers.Gorgeous green eyes he did have though, almost like emeralds.

Neena found herself smiling at the stallion despite herself and despite her current mood, and decided that she would go over and say hello at least. She might never see him again, but he seemed friendly at first glance and he was handsome.
She slowly wandered over, and stopped a few paces from him and smiled again, catching sight of his bright green eyes. They were very striking against his earth-toned pelt.
'Hello there..' she said, giving him her best smile, even though inwardly she wasn't as chipper as she was showing him.
