After collecting a few of the little plates of appetizers from the buffet alongside the dance floor, Juni and her companion (both still in costume) settled into one of the tables set away from where everyone was dancing. Juni slipped the veil off her eyes so she could see what she was eating, and considered the little finger foods. Hm; her fingers were also smeared with paint.
Oh well. She wouldn't be able to stay in costume for too long anyway, not with the way this stuff made her skin itch; she pulled a hanky out of her waistcoat and wiped most of the paint off her fingers before eating. As she worked at the paint, she said softly, "How has your term been going? I am sorry, my, um...independent study has kind of gotten, ah, out of hand." She smiled sheepishly. "I'm afraid computer people get like this sometimes."

When Juni would have stopped at a table to sit, she dragged them both further away from the main gathering of people, into a shadowy corner of the ballroom where mostly all there was to see by was Juni's body paint. Why all the extra effort to hide? So that Shiny could enjoy the food, too, of course! While Juni wiped her hand, the hostess tugged the full-coverage mask she'd been wearing off as well, letting out an appreciative sigh once it was off. "I have missed you, I must confess. My term has been going well, I bribed one of the boys in my statistics class to tutor me in your place, and once he stopped blushing and stammering has been very helpful." Cheeky little smile. She'd recently discovered the fun of flirting, and wasn't at all ashamed to admit she'd been using it to her advantage now that she was learning how. "Your project has been going well, I hope?"

It is not a club, it is just us five, but the work is..." She trailed off, her eyes staring at something off in the distance for a moment, before she shook her head and pulled herself together. "If we do it, ah, well enough? It may -- one of my collaborators said, we should, should show it to one of the, the professors at the college, he thinks it might, might be useful for people doing, um, ciencia cognative(*) for, for therapy with autism. It is -- it is huge. If we can, can really make it work." She popped a canape into her mouth, then leaned over to give Shiny a firm hug. "But I, I have missed you too - I...I get like this sometimes, and it is, is exciting, and wonderful, and creative, but it is not..." she dug around for the right words, not even sure what they were in Spanish, much less in Japanese, and finally settled for, "I cannot live my whole life in my head, and when I am not there, I want to be with my friends. Do you, you still want to come back to Colombia with me, for, for break? I would, would really like that. And I promise to, to leave my computer here." She smiled crookedly. ( * Cognative science )

It is not a club, it is just us five, but the work is..." She trailed off, her eyes staring at something off in the distance for a moment, before she shook her head and pulled herself together. I hope you are able to make it work as it should, this project sounds like something that would benefit a great many people if taken further." Unable to resist the food, the hostess also grabbed one of the little bite-sized morsels, grinning happily at the re-issued invitation for spring break. "Oh yes, yes very much so! ANd you do not have to leave your computer behind, I'm sure I can find ways to pull you away from it if you were to get too caught up in your world of digital numbers and codes. It is a part of who you are, I should not wish you to think you must suppress some part of yourself just to be with a friend." Juni licked chocolate off the tips of her fingers. "It will be a vacation for me, too, then," she pointed out. "Also, my big computer is heavy and such. I will still bring my laptop, of course." After a moment's thought, she asked, "Is, is there any place in particular you would like to, to go? I was thinking we could, perhaps, travel a bit and see my family only some of the time. Colombia is beautiful, and there are many things to see."
