Golden Doubloon smiled widely as she took note of the Flirty Mermaid crew’s beautifully glittering collection. It was truly magnificent. And as she glanced and counted each and every piece, the memories of how they were discovered were refreshed.
She certainly loved being a pirate. An amazing crew, the open sea, adventure around every corner, and beautiful treasure! Loads of it! Who didn’t love that? A fool that’s who.
The little flutter zoomed about the ship’s cavern and inspected all the trinkets and gems. They were shining beautifully today so certainly it would be a wondrous morning. But as she reached a certain spot, where a shimmering music box normally sat, Golden Doubloon was shocked to find it missing. That was a rare item that once belonged to the trickiest pirate around! Pirate Pegleg Barnaclebie. Known for his crazy booby-traps and wibbly wobbly saunter. She singed her wings reaching that! What was it doing from it’s spot?
Then Golden Doubloon recalled that today was the day they were inviting buyers over to look at a few pieces up for sale. The treasure they were showing were only supposed to be trinkets! Silly knick-knacks that didn’t belong to famed pirates of their past or old lores.
Oh no.
Golden Doubloon shrieked in terror. As fast as a buccaneers bullet, she zoomed out of the cellar and onto the deck. Frantic red eyes looked all about in search of her crew. When they weren’t making the sale on the boat the little flutter knew that could only mean they were in town!
She had to make it in time.
Her wings never buzzed so loudly before as she dove off the side of the Flirty Mermaid and flew across the rolling waves. Golden Doubloon was flying as quick as she could go. She had to stop that sale! They were to never sell precious treasure. Why hadn’t anyone realized that but her?!
Just as a proper phony with a large mustache was reaching for the music box, an exhausted Golden Doubloon made her arrival. Clumsily she tumbled past the stallion and snatched the music box away with a double alley oop. She could barely get a word out as she scampered to take hold of the music box and clutch it to her chest.
“S-Sorry…” She wheezed from her new favorite spot on the cobblestone road. “But…we will not…” She gasped for air, “Be sell-selling this today. T-Thank…you.”
And with that the confused mustachio gent made his way over to look at a bejeweled pot. Slowly Golden Doubloon sat up and looked at the treasure as her breathing caught up to her. “Don’t worry Pegleg Barnaclebie. Your treasure is safe now. Golden Doubloon to the rescue.” She giggled with glee at having saved the one-of-a-kind item. Looks like the pirate crew needed someone to make sure beautiful treasures such as this stayed with them. Lucky for them Golden Doubloon was happy to not only be a fearless pirate, but the handy dandy treasurer and appraiser for her trusty crew.
