Day 1

38.Companionship

Bart looked down at the odd little creature in his left hand. "What... Did I get myself into?" He asked, raising his unsure right hand and gently poking the creature. It jumped, and he did to. Although, quickly realizing his mistake he quickly regained his composure. He had heard of 'minipets' but had never before owned one, not that he nessisarily 'owned' the little creature in his hand. "What... Are you?" He asked, looking at the little creature in his hands from all possible different angles.

He had found the odd little creature hidden under his bed when he was grabbing one of the papers that fell. At first he just thought it was a very large pile of dust, but now that it was in the light, it was rather clear that it was very much alive. Still, Bart had no idea what to do with it. "Should I just put it out of it's misery?" He asked himself quietly, as usual not caring for anyone else's feeling, and definitely not thinking that the odd little creature would be injured in anyway about the subject. Alas, the little creature began to shake, Bart didn't even notice until it started making a crying sound. At fist Bart didn't realize what was going on then, fir once in his life, didn't have any idea of what to do. "O-ok, bad plan, bad plan." He said rather panicked, looking around his dorm to see if he could find something to help. Although, the little creature began to settle down not long after Bart's plea. "Um... Ok then? So... What do I do with you?" At first Bart thought the little creature could understand him, but Bart recalled learning that animals could sense feelings, and realized the little... Whatever it was probably sensed his hostility. Still, Bart wasn't sure what to do with it.

Bart had never owned a pet before, and as such had no idea how to care fir one. Before when he had heard of pets, he figured they were useless, and it still seemed to be that way, but if he couldn't kill it, what choice did he have? "Well... I guess I'm going to have to live with you around... Most people give their uh... Pets names, right? Let's call you um... Silas! Yeah, yeah, that's a good, manly name!" He felt rather accomplish considering the little creature was still alive and had a name. Not that he saw any reason in having such a companion, especially since it was probably the one eating off some of his plants. "I've got to get my homework done so you uh... Just sit there and do whatever it is that pets do." Bart said, feeling odd as he began to work on his homework again, frequently looking up at the creature to see what it was doing and to see if it was even still there.

Day 2
48.Checkmate

"Check." The calm, cool voice of mobster boss Tony Blackhorn echoed through the room as he looked smugly at the chess game before him, and also at his son. Bart cursed under his breath as he realized his father was right. "That was so stupid of me..." Bartholomew Blackhorn growled at himself as he looked over the hoard. "You were too focused on your offence, so much so that I was able to blow straight through your defense." Bart, only about seven in human years at the time, didn't quite understand the entire game of chess. He just knew he had one goal- to impress his father which, presumably, meant beating him at a game of chess.

Barty looked over the board, searching for an escape route for his poor king, but there was no escape. Bart faced his fate and moved a space to the right, choosing death via knight rather than a rook or queen. "Check mate. Tony said, bot aware of how far his words would lead Bart to later put up his defenses when it came to real people. At least Bart would come to beat him less than a year later for the first time, and only occasionally lose to his father after that.

day 3
46.Inherit

Bart walked into his dorm, a rather large box in his hand. "Oh Silas! I brought a surprise for you!" He said as he sat the box down and grabbed some recently bought plants. He put the plants into the box and covered it three fourths of the way with a dark cloth. It was a perfect haven for Silas, his dust bunny (he had gone to the library and done some research on Minipets). Although, Bart felt a sudden rush of anger as he realized what he had just done. "What the heck is my problem?!?" He growled, clearly angry at himself, the dust bunny now shaking in the darkest corner it could find in its new home. "I am supposed to be a mobster, not a flipping care taker!" He growled, punching the wall. He simmered for a moment, before noticing the frightened Silas and forcing himself to calm down. "Sorry, buddy, I didn't mean to scare you..." Bart muttered, but his voice had a razor edge to it.

day 4
19.Trust

Bart knew better than to trust anyone that wasn't family. Although he hadn't been aware of the true nature of his family's business, that was one fact he was well aware of. He also was smart enough to know that everyone was bound to fail him at some point, even himself. He was convinced that trust was just a way to manipulate people who didn't understand the true nature of trust. It was important for Bart to learn the ways of nature in order to further know how to act when he became the boss of his family's "business". He had to keep his true self heartless, despite whatever he acted like for other people.
