Day 1
Fear

Sophie had been reading, as she sometimes did when inspiration for new designs didn't come to her. This particular time she was reading about human fears. Some of them, she thought, were irrational. A fear of balloons which were used in parties and celebrations. A fear of butterflies that she thought were beautiful. She drummed her fingers on the open book for a moment and then rocked back on her hair, lips pursed as she gazed at the ceiling.

There weren't many things Sophie was afraid of. Fire was the big one and she'd encountered this fear more often than she would like. She shuddered a little, remembering the burns and blisters on her hands. She'd been afraid of loss; her brother and herself - her friends. She sat forward again, flicking a few pages without actually reading through them. She was sure that to some, her fears would be considered irrational just like balloons and butterflies seemed irrational to her.

Though a fear of fire was perfectly rational for an undead. She snapped the book shut and rolled her chair over to her sewing station. She did not wish to think of flames or burns any longer.

Day 2
Death

She often found herself pondering death. Apparently, she had experienced it once before in her human life - though she had no memory of it - and had come through on the other side as she was now - an undead. It was hard for death to become a permanent status for those who lived in her world. Even those who were turned to weapons used by the hunters never really died - they just became something else.

Her world came with dangers and she often found herself facing death; sometimes crossing over with it to return a few hours or a day later, as if it had never happened. But what would happen if she didn't come back? Would she realise what had happened or would she simply.. stop. A shudder rippled through her and she thought it to be a terrible, lonely fate. To simply stop being. But then, one wouldn't notice if they didn't exist anymore in the physical sense. She smirked. Perhaps she'd get lucky and come back as a ghost the next time round.

Day 3
Family

Sophie made sure she'd packed everything. Double and triple checked her bags. Not that she owned much; a few changes of clothing. some odds and ends, a few knick knacks and a sewing machine she'd carried around since she'd come back to life.. er. death. Besides her sewing machine - which wasn't in the best condition and was known to be tempremental - nothing Sophie owned was of any value or importance to her. But she packed it, none the less, because how would she tell if something could become useful or not in the future?

Time ticked away and Sophie had begun to pace. They were late. Had they changed their minds? Found her too old? Too shy? Too.. dead? Of course the last part was silly. They were dead themselves and undead - at least those who were rotting, like Sophie - stuck together. The ghoul put her doubts down to nervousness. She had waited a long time for this - well, it wasn't years, but when you're in the system and you watch friends (and enemies alike) go off to happy homes over and over again.. Everything blurs and time isn't really something you count anymore.

But, of course, the day had finally come. Today Sophie was going home. To her new family. A mother, a father and even siblings. She'd not yet met her parents. She'd seen a picture and saw them in passing while she peeked. She wasn't sure what they were like - what her siblings were going to be like. How did they know she was the right addition to their family without meeting her? Is it something they just
knew? What if they didn't like her and sent her back..

Sophie's thoughts were interrupted at the sound of a knock on her door. She sucked in her breath. They were here. It was time and there was no backing out now even if she wanted to. The door creaked open and Sophie found herself frozen in place as the orphanage mother, Matron, stepped in, another woman following behind her. She felt her cheeks flush and bowed her head, pigtails falling over her shoulders and concealing her face a little. She shifted.

"She's a little shy," Matron cooed. "But she'll come out of her shell eventually. Sophie, dear, come now. Don't be rude. Introduce yourself."

She froze again at the request for her to make her presence known. She had hoped she could shrink into the shadows. Looking up, she gave the best smile she could manage. She didn't want to get her hopes up. The woman smiled at Sophie and stepped forward a little. "Hello, Sophie. I'm here to take you home."

Sophie simply muttered a hello before busying herself with her bags. As they were leaving, she waved goodbye to the others who she grew up with and handed out a few of the things she didn't wish to take with her - a blanket, a stuffed animal and a jacket that was much too small for her. She piled her belongings into the car and settled into the passenger seat, busying her trembling hands with the hem of her shirt.

As her new mother - though it would be some time before Sophie felt comfortable calling her that - climbed in, Sophie took one last look at her old home before staring ahead to her new one, a little scared and a little hopeful though she had promised herself to be neither.

"Your brothers and sisters can't wait to meet you. Though one is away at school currently. You'll join him when you start." Mother explained, pulling away. Sophie sucked in air. Siblings. That's what a real family had, right?

Day 4
Training

She had made an effort to practice once a day; a promise she had made to herself ever since she had been defeated. She stood in the gymnasium, fists clenched as she stared at the dummy before her. She launched at it, legs kicking off the floor and swung. The dummy's face shifted and it was hers or what Sophie thought she looked like. She only had a voice to go by, of course. Her leg came up and the face shifted again; this time it was his and she faltered before delivering the kick for he was the most violent and he was the one who had her dreading what little sleep she required.

But soon, she had promised and hoped, they would fear her. She would train for as long as she needed to make them feel the fear she felt.
