Spring was certainly coming, and Damon was glad for that.
He wasn't too fond of winter, really. Belle, on the other hand, loved snow. His dog seemed to get excited every time she got the chance to jump into a pile of fluffy snow, but it also meant that she would dance around him while he was trying to shovel the driveway. Sure, he had moved out of his parent's house now, but moving out didn't mean he would keep away from his family home forever.
There had been a time when he had shut many people out of his life, including relatives. It had been a shaky road to get back on his feet and be sort of comfortable with who he was yet again.
"Hey." He said, tugging on Belle's leash; she was intently sniffing the side of the gate. "Your friend will be here soon." Along with an old friend of his, of course. In all honesty, he still felt rather awkward with having reconnected with the people he had known before the incident.

Talia loved her little dog, truly she did, but she didn't love the way that it attempted to roll in every dirt patch it saw, ruining its fluffy white coat. Her dog-loving friends had warned her that getting a white dog was a dumb idea for that reason, but she couldn't help it when it was so cute.
She sighed as Wookie buried his face in yet another pile of leaves, marking his little snout with mud brown lines. "We haven't even started the walk you little-"
Rounding the corner, she saw Damon waiting there and a smile cracked across her face. He'd been sparse, even cold for a few years of their friendship, but it had remained just that- friendship. She'd heard rumors from her parents that he was beginning to get out more again, so that was a nice thing to hear.
Wookie trotted alongside her as she threw her arms around Damon in a hug, with a raucous, "Damon!" to greet him. Her little pomeranian wasted no time weaving in and out of the bigger goldendoodle's legs. "Good to see you~ How have you been handsome?"

"Hey, Talia." Damon greeted, patting her gently on the back in return. He never was much of a hugger (and neither was his sister, really) and always seemed rather awkward when it came down to it, but having an affectionate dog had helped. Belle always seemed happy to make new friends and was content to let even strangers pet her. Even now, all she had to do with give the little dog a sniff and bark a greeting, tail wagging happily in the air as she tried to lick Talia's hand.
"And hi there, Wookie." He had once commented that if she wanted to give it such a name, she should have gotten a brown dog instead. Of course, Damon wasn't one for giving name advice, when he was a terrible namer; it had taken him forever to name his own dog.

Damon really had the lamest hugs. She would have to work on him. He needed warm squishy hugs that were happy from bottom to top, not this half-hearted effort. When had he gotten so callous?
"Ewwww," Talia wailed as the other dog licked her hand, immediately retracting it to prevent further moistening. "Gross gross gross." Her nails! Her perfect nails and skin! Truly horror for a valley girl like Talia.
She pulled a tissue out of her little backpack and proceeded to wipe it off while talking to Damon. "Ready to do this?" she said, in reference to the walk. "You're not going to run away on me, are you?"
Just checking.

"She's just showing affection, you know." Damon said, watching Talia with a bemused expression upon his face. "I mean, you have a dog and all, so shouldn't you be used to this?" Of course it had been awkward in the first few weeks when he had first gotten Belle, because though they had a family cat, it had never been particularly overly affectionate.
"Why would I run away?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. "I don't even think Wookie could keep up. Probably end up tripping over his tiny legs and I'm not going to be responsible for that."

Talia stuck out her tongue and said, "Just because I have a dog doesn't mean I have to like gross slobber." Talia would always and forever be a girly girl and nobody would change her.
She laughed at the idea of Wookie tripping over his little legs (something he did quite a bit, actually), but covered her mouth with a hand. "I just mean in general," she elaborated, "I haven't seen you around in a while~" To be fair, Talia had been missing for quite a while too. She had gotten rather muddled with being an adult, going to college, working two jobs .... there was just too much going on. That and she totally needed time to do her hair and get her nails done? There just wasn't enough time in the day.
Still, Damon was a rare treat and she was always pleased to be in his presence. He was a rare breath of fresh air. To further ensure his ensnarement, Talia looped her arm under his, holding her dog's leash with her free hand. "There, now you can't leave!"
