Corruption.. There was so much more to it than someone would think. To give up an entire life, a lifestyle, the very fibres of your being to change yourself was an immense task. One that Nischal had been willing to do so many months ago. After the initial pain and suffering, and loneliness that came to him, it was as if he had finally pulled his head over the raging sea that was attempting to drown him. And from that point on, everything seemed so much more normal, and he began to think like the young man he was.

He realized.. There was another downside of defecting.. He no longer owned ANYTHING that was important to him. He kept certain files, yes, but other than that, everything was new. His books, and maps, and figurines and dice and everything was just gone.. This just wouldn't do for the golden eyed boy, as so much as his time before had included making a million character sheets.. And yes, sure the books and manuals for tabletop games could be found in PDF online, what was the fun in that? Having a shelf full of books like before.. yes, that was his new dream.

So here he was, standing in one of the local shops near Azure Valley, the school he was once supposed to attend but never actually managed to get himself registered at. So many hours were spent here in the past, but now he was here again, someone new. And the first book he grabbed from their immense collection was the last copy of Dungeon and Dragons Ghostwalk.. Wow.. Even before he started collection, he had never even seen a real copy of this book! How lucky of a day was this to be! If.. Damn, he was just far too short to actually reach it. At five foot three, he wasn't at all close enough to reaching the book. Who needed ceiling high shelves anyway!?

I hope this works! Thank you!

Mikhail slipped in the front door into one of his favorite establishments. Tall and gangly, he often slouched or hunched when he walked, almost folded in on himself, as if the shy boy were trying to make himself take up as little space as possible, to make himself more out of the way and inconspicuous as possible. But as soon as the little bell on the door chimed, he seemed to unfold, his posture suddenly becoming more relaxed and natural.

Yes, he was hopelessly awkward most of the time, seemingly uncomfortable in his own body that had grown to tall to fast. Geeky and Nerdy yes... but in this place he was just another Geeky Nerdy teen amidst a flood of other geeky nerdy teens. And some geeky nerdy adults. And most of them he had known sense he was old enough to have an allowance to blow on his particularly fantastical pass-time.

Mikhail strolled the shelves. He had some birthday money burning a hole in his wallet, that with the whole world exploding with talking cats, man dresses, and face paint, he hadn't yet been able to spend. And he really needed a dose of normality.

He was still in his school uniform, the black and pale blue of azure valley almost more comfortable to him then his every day cloths. At least when he wore his uniform no one questioned his choice of neon yellow plaid tennis shoes. He gave a small wave to the shop owner who was lounging behind the counter, sanding off the rough edges of a figurine he was working on, barely acknowledging Mikhail with a slight nod of his head. Dark eyes scanning the tittles and humming in an off-key tone, proving just how very comfortable he was in the shop, he noticed someone trying to reach up to the higher book shelves, reaching for one of the few lonely tombs that called it home.

Mikhail hesitated for just a moment, fighting his very ingrained desire to slip around to an empty isle of books and other treasures of the Cornucopia of Nerddom, but he had to remind himself that it was ok to talk to people here.... Some of the main things people judged him for about daily, were the same things that brought the other patrons here.

So after only a moments more of thought, Mikhail stepped up beside the much smaller boy, unfurling his 6'1 frame and reaching up to the top shelf to pluck the book from its resting place with long dark colored fingers.

" H-here. " Mikhail offered with a shy smile, internally cringing at his stutter.

Almost immediately Nischal began to bristle at the hand that grabbed the book right away from his fingertips. It wasn't his fault he was short and hadn't grown in years! It wasn't his fault that the one time he truly wanted something it was so far out of reach. He turned around quickly, trying to give the boy a questioning look, wondering if whether or not this was going to be a situation where he was going to get picked on for his height. Wouldn't be the first time, and he was more than willing to go on and meet
that teasing with his fist.

Yet it didn't come. Instead it was a kind, young man, towering over him, and graciously offering that tome that he had wanted so earnestly.

The boy before him had such a sweet little smile, and seemed more nervous than he should have been. He was so.. So very tall in comparison to his little self; it seemed like everyone he met just towered over him. Not that it was such a bad thing. He rather liked being around people who were taller than them and came off as nice. It created an atmosphere around him that just felt genuinely safe.

"Ah, thank you! Sometimes it just truly sucks being so short. Doctor said I won't grow any taller, so It looks like I'm screwed, for the most part!" Nischal's original grimace had switched to a pleasant smile of his own as he received the book and held it opened in his hands, scanning a few pages and confirming it was the book he wanted.

"I guess that's why fate allows me to be lucky and have encounters with kind people like you. I do appreciate it. I'm Nischal, by the way. Do you like to play these games as well?" Holding up the book infront of his face so that only his golden eyes peered over the edge, he prodded the boy for more questions. He looked about the same age of him, though it was hard to assume anything. Maybe he could make a friend.. It was truly about time for Nischal to stop being all emotional over his life and get back to being what he was when it came down to it. A kid.

He hesitated a little bit as he felt the smaller boys body language tense, which in turn made him almost flinch. But then when he noticed Mikhail was handing him the book, he relaxed, which made him in turn relax.

Mikhail couldn't help the big grin that spread across his dark face. " Ah well there are some advantages to being short. Bet you never hit your head on a D-door frame. " His own reaction startled him more than a little. He generally didn't just hop into conversation with people very easily, usually having a hard time getting over his own shyness. But the boy was just so... cheerful, even talking about how he was doomed to a life of shortness, that it made him grin.

Mikhail blushed a little bit, he hadn't exactly had been trying to be kind, but... doing what he felt anyone should have done. He wondered briefly if there was a difference between the two? " Your welcome, I-i'm glad I could help. " He said, softly, as if embarrassed by being called out for being a good guy.

" I'm Mikhail " He said, his dark eyes sliding down to scan over the cover of the book Nischal held in front of his face " Oh yeah, all the time. Though my c-campaign group sort of broke apart when we went to different high schools. " Mikhail tilted his head a little bit, letting his curiosity getting the better of him " Are you just getting into gaming or b-been around a while? " This place was sort of like his sanctuary, so he almost didn't notice he was stuttering. It was less prominent, softer, sense he was relaxed, his brain churning away at the idea of meeting someone his age who had a similar hobby.

Not that there was anything wrong playing with some of the older gamers in the shop, but sometimes it was nice to have a friend his own age.

"Hello, Mikhail! I guess you're right, it's not all that often that I hit myself. Maybe with the fridge door, but that's always my own fault, going about without glasses or anything. But seriously, I mean it, thanks. Knowing my luck, I could have toppled the whole shelf over." And be crushed by the weight of all the books, and create a scene and be banned from the shop for life. He inwardly cringed at that thought, after all, this was the one place that he only had good memories from the past. The Blockbuster had been torn down months ago...

But Nischal quickly returned the grin that Mikhail had shared with him, feeling himself warm up to the tall lad already. Even after being in Destiny City almost a year (previously as Isha of course), this boy might be the first friend his age he had made on his own, without the help of his powered side. How wonderful would that be?

"I've been gaming for a long time, I'd like to think. Before I moved to Destiny City, I had a few games I went to. But they kinda all faded away. I host my own online campaign sometimes, though. Do you use the Paizo Website? My username is Gaṛhanevala. Not so popular, but.. I'd like to think I have great reviews as a DM. I guess.."That was one good thing about being anonymous online. Even after you defect and lose your identity, you still have some old things you could fall back on. It made the transition a bit easier.

"By the looks of that uniform, I'm guessing.. Azure Valley? I'm a Meadowview student myself, but I had a friend who introduced me to this side of town, this shop, and it's been my favorite ever since."

If only Mikhail could see Nischal now. He's a whimpering mess in the hospital. XD

" Hey, now the fridges are out to get everyone. That is a widely known fact. " He said with a grin. He couldn't even count the number of times he had smashed a finger or stubbed one of his own toes on the door while opening the fridge or freezer. It was just a fact that fridges hated all of humanity. " you are welcome though, glad to h-help any time! " Though he doubted someone as teeny-tiny as Nishcal could knock over those shelves unless he full on ran and tackled the shelves, so weighed down they were. He wouldn't say that out loud. That would just be rude. Though honestly he himself had bumbled into them a few times, his limbs having suddenly grown so long so swiftly his brain hadn't quite caught up with it yet, leaving him constantly bumping into things. And he hadn't been crushed yet either!

" Yeah, sometimes it can be hard to keep a group together " he said with a solemn nod. " D-darn real life getting in the way. " He listened to Nischal, plucking a couple of books off of the shelf, scanning the title of one of them and putting it back, all the while still listening. ' You know, I have an account, but I haven't been on there for a while. I think the last time was for their free starter pack. " He gave a sheepish grin. " I'll sign up for almost anything for a free starter pack " he said with a quick chuckle. It was always good to have extra literature running around in case you had a new game member who was joining, and you didn't want to load your good stuff to someone. " I bet you are a great DM! ' He said, turning dark eyes, sparkling happily to his new friend. " Popularity on the internet isn't a good judge of a quality of a DM though, so i wouldn't worry to much about that. Its about how much you put into your games. " he said with another nod, plucking another book off of the shelf.

" Yep! Junior year. A lot of people come to this shop, even if its a little out of the way. Craig smells a little funny, but he knows his stuff ' From around the corner, you could hear Craig, the shop owner, without missing a beat that it was Incense. INCENSE DAMMIT. which caused Mikhail to grin a little bit broader. He sounded grumpy but he knew the shop owner didn't take it to heart. It was just sort of his default tone.

" Yeah, its my favorite to. Its got a little bit of everything, and some of the harder to find treasures as well. " he nodded his head towards the book in Nischals hands " As you know. " He plucked another book and flipped through a page before frowning and putting it back. Yep already had that one.

" You know... if y-you want, you could always join my game? I-if you don't mind playing joining one in person. " He offered another slightly hesitating smile, as if he wasn't sure if he was overstepping I-just-met-you boundaries. " Sometimes we even play here, so its not like you have to go to a strangers house or anything. " He tacked on quickly, in the hopes that he wasn't coming off creepery.

The more the boy spoke, the more he seemed to come out of his shell, and Nischal found it pleasantly charming. The occasional studder just came off as endearing, rather than annoying as other people might have found it, and he almost felt the need to sit him down and tell him to go slower. But there was no need! Pointing such a thing out might cause him to go and become more frazzled!

He took the praise of his skills with a blush and a grin, nodding.

"It does smell funny in here!" He chuckled a bit, throwing an apologetic smile at the owner, before turning back to Mikhail and tucking a bit of hair behind his ear. "It has alot of awesome things here.. And there's never any shame in free stuff!"

He enjoyed being around him already, so that could only mean good things, right? And the offer.. He would have to be alone anymore.. Someone would actually enjoy Nischal, this Nischal, this person, as an individual, not as a person who had met him in the past..

"You know.. I think I'd like that. I'd like it alot. Maybe we can talk about it more over lunch or something, find out schedules and plot out a character sheet together. I'm a bit rusty in actually playing, so I'll need your help."
