Ada didn't care for swank parties. She adored the adoration, she was sanguinary with the political warfare.
But dear god did she hate small talk.
She'd arrived with her boss, Mr. Wilson, but the moment she could she escaped. He was probably off to woo any whore that would let him, and she didn't mind being as far as possible from him when that happened. Unfortunately that meant she spent most of the night listening to boring office people talk about boring office affairs.
At the moment, she'd escaped for a short reprieve. She'd seated herself on one of the leather couches, taking a moment to have a drink and attempt to relax. There were only so many smiles she could fake for such a long period, especially when one had a face as bitchy as hers.
It was a little lonely, being on the couch by herself, but in a few moments she would get back up and throw herself back into the thrall that was office party decorum. For now, she was fine right here, thank you.

"You know I hate these things too," Noah said as he stood next to the couch where Ada was sitting and flashed a flirtatious half grin down at the lonely woman enjoying a drink in solitary.
And he truly did hate the environment. It was everything he ran away from, and every bit of anguish he did his best to avoid. Why was he here? He increasingly had no idea. For as alienated as Robert Connolly's children were they still fell victim to the occasional power game and submitted to his whims.
"Or is your drink just that terrible?" She definitely looked lonely. He didn't see the problem in offering her a little company. Noah was a social creature and his simplistic problem solving mental habits saw that the fact she was separated from most social groups was a likely cause for her expression rather than a need to escape.

A single eyebrow was raised in some sort of emotion at Noah's approach. Was it annoyance? Gratefulness? Whatever the emotion was, it was specifically thrown in Noah's direction.
"Is that the best pick up line you have?" she asked poignantly, adding, "If so your abilities are a bit rusty." She pursed her lips and sipped her drink, looking at him all the while.
She reached one hand up to adjust her hair and said, "I'm enjoying my peace, what do you want." To the point was the best way to describe Ada.

Noah's brow raised and he took a moment to size up the woman who'd just snapped at him. He let his shoulders softly raise up and down and he held up one hand that wasn't holding a drink in defense.
"Hey, I was just trying to make conversation," He said, mellow as ever. His easy smile had faltered briefly, but only briefly. The spark went down, but it didn't take long to reboot.
But he also wasn't the type to go where he wasn't wanted, so he had elected to float somewhere else and find another relatively unpopular corner to hide from the crowd when Zia came tumbling in and grabbed his arm.
"Noah! I wasn't expecting to see you here!" Which was such a blatant lie Noah looked appropriately confused. They were bother dragged along by the same person, of course she knew he was going to be here.
It became a little more clear when her eyes narrowed down to the woman on the couch and a snide, "Oh, Ada, I didn't realize," was made. She had specifically come over to cease the conversation between the two of them.
And that made Noah stand statue still as she tried to tug him away.

Ada sipped her drink and watched as Zia pathetically attempted to "pretend" to bump into the twosome. She didn't know the man sitting across from her, but she sure as hell knew it wasn't a chance meeting.
"Have we met before?" she said cooly, not breaking a single beat as the girl floundered. "If we did, I must apologize. You simply must not be that memorable."
She tucked a curl behind her ear with finesse. "Have you two met?" Perhaps if she was lucky the two would hit it off and she could leave.carneli whispers sick burns from the casa de adelaide

“Hilarious,” Zia’s tone was flat as she put one hand on her hip and glanced around, eyes lidded in unamusement. “You’re not that high up on the food chain to score a proper invite, you must be someone’s plus one, Ada,” She sneered and then tugged on Noah’s arm.
“Noah, come mingle with me,” She said, sounding saccharine and sweet in response to questioning if the knew each other.
Noah, on the other hand, was less than amused to be caught in the middle of what was gearing up to seem like two entirely unpleasant women and rooted into his spot, like a rabbit choosing to freeze and hope death passed him by. “No, I’m… I’m okay right here.”
