Filth. Vermin. All of them. One day they would see what he could truly do and who he truly was. They would surely regret their decision then. Weeks, he had spent roaming the lands, looking for ones who were worthy of his cause. Those who had come close had refused his offer and the rest were too weak to be bothered with. It was filth like these that he was looking to be rid of. What use were they to the world? What with their fields of flowers and songs of happiness. The thought alone was enough to make him sick. No, the world needed those who were strong and could protect themselves. It was time to scourge the land and he needed all of the support that he could get.

However, the only real follower that he had was Morsmordre. The mare was his most trusted supporter and could be counted on for anything. Why couldn't he find more like her? She understood his mission and accepted it without question. Yet there were many more who refused to even listen to him. One day he would show them. Perhaps not today or tomorrow, but one day.

The sun had disappeared behind the mountain hours ago, and the moon was high in the sky when AV returned to his lair. The climb had been treacherous, but it was one that he had walked many times before and he barely paid it any mind. He only hoped that Morsmordre was nearby.

Morsmordre was panting as she struggled up the steep hill to meet her Master. Her heart was pumping hard, and her muscles ached with weariness. She could feel the mixture of blood and sweat mingling on her coat and dripping down. But he was just beyond that rise--waiting for her.

He would have legions with him. She would tell him of the seeds he'd planted, the information she'd gathered and he would be pleased with his most faithful servant.

But he would not be pleased with the other tidings she had to share of Horus and his brood--of the treachery they'd committed against her and him.

As she crested the hill, something caught in her throat. The green flames gleamed and her heart gave an odd lurch. Her stomach felt like it was filled with snakes. There was no one there but Him. There were no others that he had found...yet.

She bowed before him panting for breath, "Master." The blood dripped in thick gobs down her sides and fell to the earth.

Avada Kedavra surveyed the ground before him. The rocky mountain was empty, he was alone but for the crows that filled the trees. The murder filled the air with shrieks as he made his appearance. The birds were familiar with him but they still kept their distance at first. Yet even so, he would see them just out of the corner of his eye on occasion. The longer he lingered the closer they approached. Even the crows did not fear death it seemed.

He pawed at the rock beneath his hooves in annoyance. Morsmordre should have been here already, what had kept her so long? Just then, he heard the sound of hoof beats behind him and turned to see her head come into view.

"There you are." He snapped at her in annoyance as she bowed to him. "What kept you so long? You better have..." The stallion trailed off as he caught sight of her wounds. Anger quickly turned to concern for a moment. "Who did this to you?" His words were still sharp, still angry, but they held a touch of softness as well.

Whoever had dared to harm his servant had better be prepared to meet his death.

Morsmordre panted for breath, unable to pull herself back up to her feet. "I did as you asked Master. I curried favour. I sold slaves and found out the weaknesses and strengths of those I sold to. I found few willing servants, and I waited for you."

She panted harder this time, "I went to him as you asked. To Horus, I gave him all that he wanted and more. I was careful to keep his favour. But when I delivered a white little dove of a mare to him, he set his fiend children on me. He said it was a message to you. I escaped, I got some healing but they came again in the cave in which I was resting. He says that I am the message, milord."

Rage filled the stallion at his servant's words and he began to pace back and forth. How dare Horus do this to him? They had had an agreement, a sort of arrangement. The stallion had information that he wanted. No. Information that he needed. Yet Avada Kedavra had made sure to keep him happy by sending him the slaves. What was it that he had done wrong? Or perhaps Morsmordre had done something...

"You." He turned to the mare. "Did you say anything to him? What else did he say to you?" His words were harsh and accusing, but underneath the stallion was panicking. He needed that information and could not risk losing Horus as an ally. Already he had too few of those.

Morsmordre looked at him with wide eyes, "Master...I..." She fumbled with the words, he'd never used that tone of voice with her before. "I did nothing, nothing I can think of. Nothing..." She fumbled again, "He said that I was the message. He left me to die, and then I crawled off. Took a unicorn hostage to heal me, and they gave me chase his fiend children. They were supposed to bring me back to Horus alive or dead. My body or my head would send the message well enough." She breathed out, looking down.

"Have I displeased you?" Her heart gave a dull thud. She had missed him, had thought that their meeting would be better. But she, she had failed him.

It hadn't been her fault. Avada Kedavra counted to ten in his head, taking in a few deep breaths. Whatever issue Horus appeared to have with him, Morsmordre was not the cause of it. He had to remind himself of that.

"No, no. It wasn't you. Forgive me pet, it has been a long and tiring trip and I needed Horus on our side." He softened his tone with her. It looked as if he'd need to come up with a new plan. Either the slaves had displeased Horus or perhaps he had grown tired of dealing with Morsmordre. Whatever the cause, it looked as if AV was going to need to contact the stallion himself. Would he have time to rest first? He supposed he could rest the night and then move out in the morning. It was best not to leave him waiting too long. Horus held all the cards this round.

"Are you alright now?" Really he ought to have asked the question sooner, but Morsmordre was alive and would survive. It was the stallion who concerned him now.

She could not help herself when he took that tone with her, he never spoke to anyone else like that but her. "Master, thank you. You are most gracious." She came close to him and lightly pushed her head against his chest. Tonight, if he permitted, she'd lay her head against his chest and listen to his dark heart thumping. She loved to listen to the sound of power and magic in it.

"I am, you are here Master. All will be well."

Assured that she would fine, Avada Kedavra turned his attention back to the situation at hand. He would need to leave as soon as the sun came up and he had regained his strength. Any information that he could gather on Horus before he met with him would also be to his advantage. The more he could learn, the better.

"Is there anything that I should know about Horus before I make the journey? Has he been conversing with anyone new?" Unfortunately, he doubted Morsmordre would know anything of any real importance, but even the tiniest of details could prove to be useful.

"Does he still reside in the same place?" He added as an afterthought. It would be a waste of a journey for him to arrive only to discover Horus had moved.
