The morning was crisp and still, the sunlight just beginning to pale the twilit sky, turning it in hues or pale pinks and creamy oranges and it was damn beautiful. A soft crusting of snow layered over the grounds, turning the open field into a crystallized dreamscape. A violet stallion stood at the edge of the field overlooking the lands, head held high, neck arched like an Arabian as he took it all in. This…was just glorious. Life was beautiful, inside and out, even in the darkest of times…but then again, Serren wasn’t one who got depressed or discouraged easily. With a positive outlook on life and fierce loyalty to family and his beautiful mate, Serren was a happy guy with a sunny personality.

Hard to believe that he’d settled down. Growing up, he was always the more assertive yet charming colt, getting into trouble and sweet talking his way out of it just as easily. His little brother, Torrin, was always a tagalong and instead of being put out that the younger colt followed him everywhere, he accepted Tor’s devotion and included the cream colt in all of his naughty endeavors and at the end of the day they would run up to Mom so they wouldn’t get scolded toooo badly by their more strict father. He’d had his family wrapped around his little hoof.

Adolescence proved that he was a charmer, suave and carefree, sweet talking the ladies left and right. He knew he was cute--so why not flaunt it? He always imagined himself a party horse til the end, living life and loving the different mares that came along with it. What he didn’t expect was a little thing called love entering the picture. One minute he was flirting and the next, that sassy and sweet little flutter had his heart in her hands and his playboy years were long gone and forgotten.

Vitania was his soulmate, a perfect fit, the missing piece to his puzzle and he loved her with everything that he was. Yeah, he still admired a mare’s beauty, but his heart was loyal to his lifemate. They’d had three beautiful kids together and if he was being honest, Serren was ready for round two, but it seemed a long way off.

This morning, like every morning before it, he felt the urge to meander out into the breaking of dawn, lost in thoughts and musing to himself, a smile in place. Satisfied, he gazed into the distance, watched the rising sun turn the sky from a deep blue to a pale, pale pink streaked blue, the clouds reflecting the light in all their glory.

His hooves crunched lightly over the snow crusted earth, his stride slow and easy- going as he headed to the spring near their home.
