|Character Skin Color/Ethnicity|: Japanese, but skin is always deathly pale, as if he has never seen the sun

|Character Height|: 5'10"

|Character Hair Color|: Dark gray, almost like thick smoke

|Character Hair Length/ Style| Short but shaggy and always messy. Despite this, Gengyo's hair is always thick and silky smooth and softer than down

|Character Eye Color|: The same smoky gray as his hair, it's often difficult bordering on impossible to determine where pupil ends and iris begins. When angry, sad, or feeling any other steong emotion, they smolder as if they were live coals. The stronger the emotion, the more intensely his eyes seem to burn.

|Character Description|: Although Gengyo is lean and kinda scrawny, his body rock solid, as if he did little else besides work out. What he lacks in muscular size, he much more makes up for in tone and shape.

|Character Attire|: Even though he always wears the standard Shinigami uniform, with his armband always around his right upper arm, his clothes are always a bit baggy and loose-fitting, but never enough that they cease to fit propely.

|Character Tattoos/Markings/Scars|: All over Gengyo's back are the telltale criss-cross scars of one who has seen a hellatious and merciless whipping, and the fact that some are clearly older than others indicates that he spent quite a few different occasions strapped to a whipping post. Otherwise his skin is as smooth and flawless as a baby's backside.

Biography: Our story begins, as these stories often do, with Gengyo being born to a relatively normal mother and father. However, that meant that they were exceedingly poor. Gengyo also had two sisters; one five years older and one three years younger. Although they had very little, they were happy and more or less content with their lot in life. Gengyo's father was an honest farmer, his mother a housewife as almost all women were during this time period. Gengyo himself was a soft spoken but beautiful and strong boy. His two sisters were beings of such surpassing beauy that boys and men of all ages, married and unmarried, were drooling after them, these two innocent and perfect angels.

It is at this point in our story that along comes a spider. When Gengyo was nine, his father became ill. Having no money to afford a doctor, they were all deathly worried that their only source of bread on the table would die. Thus enters the spider. A greasy man from the city came and made them an offer. He would pay whatever price for the best doctor to fix the man's health, and in exchange he would return one month afterwards to collect his repayment. What that payment was, the slimy dirtball never said, but he made it clear that refusing to pay when the time came would, in no uncertain terms, mean death or worse.

They agreed. The man of the house mended, the doctor recieved his money, and the greasy man from the city came as promised. His price, it turned out, was the woman and two girls. One being 14 and the other only 6, they were most assuredly virgins and therefore worth a fortune as prostitutes.

After much shouting and crying and begging, finally the despicable creature got what he came for. But for the aggravation, he drew a sword and killed Gengyo's father right there in front of all of them. Gengyo had always been kind and inocent and had never even raised so much as his voice in anger.

But at seeing his mother and sisters taken away to be made into sex slaves, and his father slain before his very eyes, something changed in him. With an inhuman roar of fury and pain, Gengyo rushed the man who had destroyed his family. With naught but his bare fists and teeth, and withstanding the man's sword cutting him again and again, he fought and even caused enough injury that the man never forgot the small boy, even unto his dying breath. Sadly, though, this kind of story has no room for a happy ending. Only a bittersweet one. Gengyo succumbed to his wounds right then and there. If jot for a Shinigami being only a few miles away, he might have very quickly become a hollow hell bent on ruining everything he had ever loved and cherished.

Fast forward to the East Rukongai, one of the outer districts. Gengyo arrived there a street urchin, and luckily his tenderness earned him a small yet pricelessly close group of friends. However, Gengyo's tale must contain more suffering. How unfair that someone so otherwise pure would be forced to endure so much pain and hatred.

He'd been dead all of 50 years, and hadn't aged a day past 10 or 11. One of his friends, one who'd always had terrible luck with the worst people, stole some money from someone to pay for some medicine because Gengyo had managed to hurt himself. The owner of this money came looking for the one who'd robbed him. If Gengyo had not been present, his friend would have surely been killed. As it was, unarmed against a man with a knife, Gengyo beat the man to within an inch of his life. In that last instant before he sent the man into a second death, he was struck by a vivid flashback of his father. Unarmed amd defenseless, he had been struck down without mercy. And now here was Gengyo about to do the same to another unarmed and defenseless man. Sparing the guy's life, Gengyo told him never to be seen again and sent him away.

That night, for the first time since dying, Gengyo felt hungry. He swore that same night that from then on, he would only fight in defense of those who could not defend themselves, and never against a foe that could not defend themselves. He would never kill, even if it meant his life. For over amd century he kept that vow, and until he heard that the Shinō Academy was accepting applications he never thought much of the fact that he'd been having more and more trouble satiating his hunger and thirst.

The rest of the story, as they say, is history. Gengyo was a prodigy with Bakudō and was exceedingly skilled with Hakuda, was adept but not overly exceptional with a sword, and lacked any proficiency with Hadō. His very first position was as 4th seat for the Fifth Squadron. Within another hundred years, he was a Lieutenant and had long since achieved an almost unheard-of level of mastery of his Shikai. Only himself and his Captain currently know that he is capable of releasing his Bankai, and both are fully aware of his Bankai's effect on his body (he was discovered out cold and barely breathing one day, the cause blatantly obvious). Both he and his Captain know exactly how adept he is with Bakudō. What his Captain doesn't know is what Gengyo's Bankai is. That is something that he has managed to keep a secret.

|Zanpakutō Name|: Tsukurite Yasuragi

|Zanpakutō Name Meaning|: Peace Maker

|Zanpakutō Spirit Appearance|: Tsukurite Yasuragi appears as a large tortoise with a lion's mane and tail, the mane and tail being white.

Tsukurite Yasuragi Zettai Seion appears as an old man in a long, flowing robe of emerald green, with a long white beard and a lion's tail the same white color. Also, over the robe is the shell of a tortoise worn more or less as if it were a suit of armor (albeit one that only covers the back and chest).

|Zanpakutō Sealed Form|:

As you can see, it's a katana with a gold colored sheathe and matching hilt. The guard is in the shape of an eight-spoked wheel, similar to the symbol for the Buddhist eightfold path. And, of course, the blade is otherwise entirely normal.

|Shikai Status|: Can potentially maintain indefinitely, unless knocked unconscious

|Zanpakutō Shikai Activation Statement|: "Sorasu sukkari arasoi, Tsukurite Yasuragi!" (Translation: "Turn aside all conflict, Peace Maker!")

|Zanpakutō Shikai Name|:N/A

|Zanpakutō Shikai Appearance|: The sword takes on the form of a Chinese Jian similar to the one used by Li Syaoran in the Cardcaptors anime. The hilt has a dull copper color and there is a large green jewel set in the middle of it with a 3 foot long red ribbon trailing from the pommel. As one might also expect, the blade is pitch black, with the edges being white.

|Battlefield Changes|:N/A

|Zanpakutō Shikai Abilities| Tsukurite Yasuragi is a highly defensive Zanpakutō. In its Shikai form it possesses three distinctive abilities:
1. When Tsukurite Yasuragi is swung at an opponent or an incoming attack, the Zanpakutō slices through and disrupts the flow of spiritual pressure, destroying or turning aside incoming attacks and simultaneously amplifying any damage it causes to an opponent.
2. The second ability is passive. When Tsukurite Yasuragi parries a blow or counters an attack with its first ability, the jewel in the pommel begins to glow as the Zanpakutō absorbs part of the spiritual force of any attack dealt with in this fashion. Since it only absorbs a part, obviously any Kidō attacks will still harm Gengyo as he deflects it. Needless to say, in order to even use this ability, Gengyo must first succeed in parrying the attack in the first place, and as we all know, not all Kidō is so easily dealt with.
3. The third ability utilizes the gathered reishi from opponents attacks and fires it from the tip of the blade in a concentrated burst at the target. The attack is visible as crackling electricity and will push an opponent back on contact. However, Tsukurite Yasuragi's blast did not strike them so much as it passed through them. If an opponent was standing in front of a wall and turned they would see the impact point on the wall caved in slightly and covered with cracks as though something massive had collided with it. Obviously, an attack of this nature deals massive amounts of blunt damage, albeit blunt and element-less Kidō-type damage, to one's innards.

|Shikai Mastery| Total mastery; can potentially maintain indefinitely unless knocked unconscious

|Zanpakutō Bankai Name|: Tsukurite Yasuragi Zettai Seion

|Zanpakutō Bankai Name Meaning|: Peace Maker's Absolute Tranquility

|Zanpakutō Bankai Appearance|: Tsukurite Yasuragi Zettai Seion looks no different from its Shikai form. The Bankai is actually a resulting area of effect.

|Bankai Battlefield Changes|: Gengyo points Tukurite Yasurgai straight up, calls out "Bankai!", turns it 180 degrees so it's facing down, then drives it into the ground, thus creating an anchoring point. On impact, eight beams of light shoot out from the blade racing along the ground for 100 feet in each direction. When each beam has run its course, each splits into two beams and travels left and right until it connects with the other beams in a ring of light. Next, a faintly glowing opaque wall rises from this ring of light and forms a dome. When the dome completes itself all light in the space is inverted creating a surreal battleground. The dome also extends underground creating, in truth, a perfect sphere with a radius of 76.2 meters. Once erected, any attacks against the perimeter of the Zettai Seion will be absorbed and distributed throughout its perimeter dispersing the energy used against it evenly. Additionally, a portion of the attacks energy is reflected as the power absorbed bounces back once it spreads throughout the the Zettai Seion's perimeter repelling any who would seek to escape or enter. Since this essentially passive ability is triggered by attempts to break the barrier, it is therefore from those attempts that it gains its "fuel," so to speak, and thus attacking the barrier has no effect on Gengyo's ability to maintain his Bankai.

|Zanpakutō Bankai Abilities|:
1. While inside the the Zettai Seion all ability to sense the outside world and any spiritual pressure is completely cut off. The effects of Shikai and even Bankai are completely negated and Kidō is equally ineffective. This is achieved not by suppressing or absorbing the power of those inside the Zettai Seion, but by reflecting the spiritual pressure exuded by the occupants creating a state of forced equilibrium; a basic way to visualize this would be pushing against an elastic surface, no matter how hard you push, the force you exude will always be gathered and reflected back at you. Shunpo and essential physical characteristics remain unaltered but Zanpakutō cannot be used to cut inside the Zettai Seion, but can still make effective bludgeoning instruments. If a Bankai or Shikai is already active, it will become unresponsive (like an RC car just outside its range) or, for example in the case of Ichigo's condensed power Bankai, the subject will retain all of their heightened speed and strength, but their physical attributes is all they will have access to. What happens if you try anyways? Nothing. No pain, no restraints, just the possibility of looking a bit foolish. The effect can be dispelled simply by removing Tsukurite Tasuragi from the ground. When drawn from the ground, the light regains its normal quality, Zanpakutō will be able to cut again, Bankai and Shikai will become responsive, and abilities relying on spiritual pressure and reishi can be used once again, though the barrier will remain intact until the Bankai is ended.
2. Should anyone other than its owner take hold of Tsukurite Yasuragi while its Bankai is active, the ribbon attached to its pommel will quickly bind itself around their forearm. Once wrapped around the victim's arm, Tsukurite Yasuragi will begin to rapidly devour the victims spiritual energy until they are drained completely or the Zanpakutō reaches its limit, not unlike its third Shikai ability, whichever comes first. The only difference is that the third ability will automatically be triggered upon the offending individual, and the draining will continue. All that one need do to end this is to simply let go. The ribbon will release you and you will suffer no permanent damage.
3. Tsukurite Yasuragi Zettai Seion possesses one other ability. The wielder can reverse the flow of reishi through the Zanpakutō and lose all defense creating a highly destructive force. When this technique is activated, the blade of Tsukurite Yasuragi glows a brilliant white and takes on a flaming appearance as the reishi that composes the blade grows increasingly unstable. When swung it releases a massive blast of spiritual energy destroying anything in a conical area (think shotgun-blast, only if it had a range of about 50 feet) directly in front of the wielder. Such power comes at a price, as releasing the Zanpakuto's power in this method will leave the wielder with almost no reishi left in their being. In the case of an extended battle, this will almost certainly result in the wielder's death, making this technique one of last resort.

On a final note, should Gengyo use his Bankai, he will require a full day of rest to recover from it. For the most part, the only thing about the Zettai Seion that takes energy is the activation of the barrier. It's just that that one thing uses up a ridiculous amount of stamina in a single sitting.

|Bankai Mastery|: Although Gengyo has in fact achieved Bankai, he rarely uses it as he is not yet able to maintain it for very long (two posts) before he loses consciousness and the Bankai ends.

|Chuyidō|: N/A

Various Other Skills

Taijustu/Hakuda:

With the exception of those who specialize only in Hakuda mastery, Gengyo is one of the only Lieutenants capable of holding his own against a Captain in a straight hand-to-hand fight. Now, beating a Captain is an entirely different story. He's not that good...yet. His preferred style, called the Resshūken, specializes in using the hands and arms to deflect attacks while using a combination of the opponent's own momentum from those attacks and gentle nudging from the hands and arms to place the opponent squarely in the path of exceedingly devastating kicks. Why is it so powerful, then, when its mechanics seem so simple? That's because its practice requires that one first have a mastery of almost every other hand-to-hand fighting style.

|Hohō|:

While not particularly exceptional in the field of Hohō, Gengyo is far from being an amateur. Amongst the other Lieutenants, he might be considered slightly above average.

    Air Walk
    Dashing
    Shunpo
Reinka (however, instead of being slower, Gengyo loses consciousness for a few hours at the end of it)

Swordsmanship:

Gengyo does not use any particular style of swordsmanship, claiming that "if one is bound to a single style, one defeats oneself by being predictable. If one tries to use all of the styles, one defeats oneself by making their fight too complicated. But if one uses no style at all, one's actions cannot be predicted, and one's fight becomes very simple and straightforward."

Durability:

In a straight, hand-to-hand or sword fight, Gengyo can battle as long and hard as any of his peers, and with almost as much power as some of his superiors. In terms of sheer Kidō usage, he can unleash a barrage of barriers and seals of all kinds in rapid succession as quickly as his mind can come up with them. He has the same stamina for Hadō, but his control is so limited that he only has access to the very lowest levels. In Shikai, he loses none of his endurance, but in Bankai he loses almost all of it...meaning that the only way he could use it with any effectiveness would be to jump right into Bankai so that he can actually make use of it.

Reiryoku:

While only slightly larger than that of most Lieutenants, Gengyo's Reiryoku is, however, remarkably heavier, as if a large weight had suddenly been dropped onto one's shoulders at the exact same instant as weights being chained to one's wrists and ankles...of course only when Gengyo allows his Reiryoku to flare does this become the case. Normally one simply feels as if the air had suddenly become a little bit harder to breathe when around him. Obviously, those who spend more time around Gengyo tend not to feel this effect nearly as profoundly as those who don't. In terms of color, Gengyo's Reiryoku is quite unique. It is distinctly gray and depressingly lackluster, indicative of many many years of misfortune and pain.
