Hacking wasn't just the only thing Ian did on a computer - not by a long shot. It would be an awful waste of the internet, and his computer, if that was all he did. No, he did a lot more including playing games, though he wasn't elitist, and roaming various sites where he could keep up with things and try and educate people (though sometimes it came out like beating someone with information).

Today though wasn't going to be spent behind his computer, curled up in Gwen's living room, but rather he was going out. Since coming to stay with Gwen he'd been keeping to himself a lot, aside from the visits to his mother at work, for no other reason than comfort. He was still trying to settle into his new situation and get used to it; it wasn't like it had been at home. Today he was going out to meet a friend of his from online; someone he'd known for a short time.

Standing up from the floor Ian went to write a note for Gwen, since she wasn't home at the moment, and then went about grabbing his wallet, house keys, and he pulled on socks and a pair of sneakers. Already in a hoodie, it was damn cold out! He yanked on a coat just before leaving; as a last minute thought. While he buttoned his coat up, ignoring how irritating the hood under the coat felt, he made his way toward his destination. He would be meeting someone named Levi. Beyond that he only knew what the other had ever told him, he'd not gone looking into the other although he could have tried. He was putting his trust in the fact the person he was going to meet wasn't going to be some old man, or lady, or who knows what else. The fact he hadn't looked into it, wasn't sure what he was getting into, had him nervous and thus playing with one of the piercings in his bottom lip.

Maybe, if this turned out well he could spend more time with Levi off the internet? From there maybe gain the confidence he knew he lacked and get a job, he desperately needed one, and start to help Gwen out since she had been kind enough to take him in. Although he was fairly sure he wouldn't have been able to argue his way out of staying with her, she'd been rather...adamant about it. He needed the confidence and social skills to get and hold a job though; and that was hard for him. Shaking his head to dispel the negative thoughts he focused on the upcoming meeting as he drew closer to the destination.

The little coffee shop was not the most upscale - it was shady and the wood siding had faded until its original color was almost indistinguishable; it was currently somewhere between 'smudge' and 'brown'. Paint was peeling at the corners of the decade old sign swinging above the door. It read 'The Cosmos Cup' in swirling letters, though bits of them had been blown away with time to leave only the stain underneath.

Inside it was just as shady, though the room was abuzz with a familiar warmth from the patrons. They were all types, from the woman draped in home-knit layers at the corner of a bar to the gamer tucked comfortably into a corner circle booth - it looked like it would fit at least eight people but he was doing a good job of taking up at least half the table top with his laptop. He was vaguely aware of the bell chime that signaled someone walking in but didn't stop whatever he was doing to check. In fact, his attention remained wrapped up in his screen until a girl sporting bright pink pigtails leaned across the counter and called out directly to him.

"Levi, your frap is ready." She nudged the cup at him when his head whipped around, then set it on the counter and went back to her business.

He stood immediately and was taller than he first appeared, crammed into the booth as he was. He'd always been a fairly short kid in comparison with the rest of his grade but shortly before his senior year he'd begun to grow like a weed. His limbs were long and thin, like a stretch Armstrong doll. Slender fingers reached up and pulled a pair of orange headphones down from his head, settling them around his neck and letting his wavy dark green locks spring free.

Despite his awkward height and lankiness, he had a certain fluidity about him when he moved. He'd either practiced after stepping on too many toes, or didn't spend all of his days on his computer like he led people to believe. In truth, being a secret super hero at night (even as part time) meant he had to learn to use his own body. It was hard to be clumsy with some of his.. uh, trainers.

"Thanks DeDe," he called, sipping down the chilling drink. It might've been cold outside but Levi had never been able to drink hot coffee, something about it made him queasy. His mouth was on his straw when he turned around, eyes sweeping past Ian and settling on his booth. One step in that direction, however, and he turned back to Ian with a double glance. Was this..? He brought up his free hand and waved in his direction. He had to assume the only other teenage boy in the room was probably the one that liked video games..

He nodded at his booth then and walked back, tucking himself back in front of his computer but at least had the decency to half-shut the lid so he could see Ian when he sat down. (Hoping, at least, that it was him.)

The lack of class the place had didn't bother Ian, he didn't care much for classy places anyway. This place had more, and better, lighting than half the places he went truth be told. It was normal for him to find a corner of a place and tuck himself away there; to avoid people. It wasn't that he disliked people, far from it, it was just he didn't know how to properly interact with people in general and always felt like he was saying, or doing, something wrong or something which would be whispered about later. He was uncomfortable and full of self doubt to put it simply. Today though he'd put it aside in order to meet a friend who surely wouldn't, and had never, judged him - as he felt far more comfortable with people online than in real life.

'The Cosmos Cup' had been the place the other had decided on, he'd had to look up directions to the place last night, so when he saw the sign and he inside of the place he took a moment to look around - to take it all in. It wan't such a bad place. Now then, he had a friend to find. A glance about, plus a name being called, and he found the other. Watching for a moment, silent and nervous, he finally made his move.

As the other seemed to look right by him, then settle on him, Ian felt his head nodding in acknowledgement before he headed in the others direction slowly. Well, the other hadn't lied about his age nor his gender - that was a plus.

"Levi?" He questioned as he reached the booth before he sat himself down gently. "It's good to finally meet a friend." Already he could feel his nerves starting up, as he mentally replayed his words in his head and thought them rather lame. Should he get up, after just sitting down, and like an idiot go order a drink? A coffee wouldn't be bad but he'd just sat down and how stupid to sit down only to get right back up. Mentally shaking his head to clear his thoughts he settled for remaining here, at least for a few moments, before going to order a drink.

Levi nodded as Ian sat down, sucking down another gulp of coffee. He loved sugar and caffeine which made coffee shops on the top of his very short list of favorite places. That list also included arcades, candy stores, and his bedroom. He was a pretty simple guy.

Apart from the alter ego in a secret army, of course.

"Yeah, that's me," he answered in turn, following Ian as he sat down in the booth. He wasn't the only one glad that his friend had turned out to be a normal person - Levi was thanking all the video game gods he could think of, happy that he wasn't meeting an old obese man or a 12-year-old girl. "I've got to say I'm pretty relieved you aren't a serial killer."

A pause.

"Unless you are, but I have to warn you that I am craftier than I look." He gave him a pointed eye-narrowing, then smirked as amusement spread over his face instead. "Did you find it okay?" He nodded out at the shop around them and then reached over to pull his laptop a little closer. He pushed the lid up and casually glanced over the screen, staring at an incoming message in a game client. He was listening though, obvious by the way his eyes darted back to Ian every couple of seconds.

"A serial killer?" He asked while laughing at the very idea, as serious as it was. "I'm just glad your not some ***** or something else." He said honestly. "I had worried to be honest..." He was, so far, keeping his speech as normal as possible and not stuttering or tripping on his words - a miracle of sorts.

"I'm sure I'm no serial killer." Just a senshi, a super senshi, with a power over glowy orbs of light. Oh yes, nothing odd about that at all! Not to mention he was currently living with another senshi, an eternal, as his drunken lush of a father had gone a bit too far in his book. He was perfectly normal that aside; certainly not a serial killer. He'd yet to kill someone on the other side in this war and had no plans to take a life; not after everything he'd been through.

"Yeah...I looked it up - it was easy to find." It wasn't a place he'd known till now but it wasn't bad at all, maybe he'd come here on his own?

"It's good to meet a friend off line finally. I've never done it before, meet someone off line that is, too nervous and such." Ok, here came the nerves showing through. Maybe he really should get something to drink and busy his hands, give himself something to do, though the caffeine and sugar wouldn't be good for him. "Drinks are good here?"

"Yeah," he picked up his cup and saluted Ian with it, though he jiggled it until the straw fluttered back and forth for emphasis on the drink itself. He brought the straw to his lips then and spoke halfway around a gulp of coffee-slush. "They've got more than just coffee - teas, smoothies, herbal.. stuff." He shrugged as he set his drink down again.

For a moment he shuffled around under a couple of folders and then produced an old leather-bound menu. He opened it and held it out to Ian. The top of the first page depicted a tea-cup filled with a swirl of colors. "It's a galaxy of flavors," he recited mockingly from the slogan just below the picture, but laughed gently under his breath afterwards.

"It's an old place, I think its proudest moments were in the 80s before I was ever born." He let the menu go once it was securely in his friends' hands and slumped back into the booth behind him.

"It's weird, I've never.. met a person from a game," he glanced at the screen of his laptop, then back at the new guy. It was weird to see someone in person for the first time. "But I figured since we both live in this crazy town, it might be worth it." He scraped at a spot on the table with the nail of his thumb, then reached for his coffee again. He was going to be done with it in the next ten minutes at his rate - but he'd probably just order another.

"Have you been here long?" Small talk. Not his strong suit, but he'd try.

Watching the order jiggle the cup around, noting the coffee slush within, he was feeling really tempted - thirsty. He would have to order himself something, but what? "That's a lot of options." He spoke softly, slowly, it was a lot of options and left him clueless as to what they had and what he might like.

Wondering what Levi was shuffling about for he was surprised when the other produced a leather bound menu. The thing looked old, as though lots of hands had handled it, and he took it with a smile and looked over the options. Ignoring the picture on the front he went straight for the coffees. "I've never tried herbal things...but they don't sound all that appealing to be honest. Espresso and coffee and such sound far more appealing." Even tea sounded appealing, and was. "I see...a nice slogan really." He said with a shrug of his shoulders, and a smile in place.

"Same here...but it means they have loyal customers - right? And I'd assume it means they are well established and likely not about to close." Well, at least he hoped so. Who knows though with this city and what happened in it at night? Now that he knew what happened in this city.

"I've had a few friends, people from games, mention meeting up at cons and such but I've never. I mean..I'm not the sort to go to cons." he didn't like going out and being social really. "But this was easier and a smaller meeting place." So he didn't have to deal with as many people. He also didn't like cons due to the loudness and craziness of all the people, it wasn't his thing. A coffee shop wasn't like that at all, it was relaxing.

"How long have I been in this city?" He asked for clarification purposes but answered anyway, not waiting for an answer. "my whole life - you?" Turning menu pages he skimmed over everything, wanting to see reach option before deciding on something. Finally, after much flipping and skimming, he'd gone back to the espressos and checked on the name of what he wanted. It had raspberry syrup with a milk chocolate straw and cream - yummy. "I'll be right back." Closing the menu he got up and scurried off to place an order real fast before returning and plopping back down into his seat.

"I guess they do," he shrugged about the loyal customers part, glancing around the cafe to take in everyone. They were old and young, rich and poor, a conglomerate of those that preferred comfort over labels. "It's not starbucks or anything, but that's probably why everyone likes it. If I have to hear one more idiot squealing about it almost being pumpkin spice latte season I will vomit. Really." Another swig of his icy, sugar-filled coffee suggested he wasn't a queasy stomach sort either.

He set his cup back down and focused his eyes on the screen, tapping out a few sentences on a half-written forum post as he listened to Ian in the background. He was good at multi-tasking and when he finally looked up to speak again, he had obviously heard everything the other guy said.

"Cons are a lot of nonsense. It's basically just an excuse for bimbos to dress like sluts on a day other than Halloween." He shrugged his shoulders as he said it, not even batting an eyelash about how he perceived the culture surrounding cons. A day at a con was one less day practicing the game. Sure, he liked the content that they released sometimes, but he could wait a day and find out when someone had posted it online anyway.

As Ian excused himself to go order his drink, Levi focused on his forum post, zoning out the subtle background of the coffee shop. By the time the boy was back and had taken his seat again, he was clicking 'post'.

"Same. My parents lived here, their parents lived here, so on and so forth." He shrugged and pushed his laptop a little to the side, confident that it needed no further proof reading, and reached to hold his chilled coffee between both hands. "I think they were hoping I'd go away to college, but that's not really my thing either."

"Starbucks..." A shudder, visible and for dramatics, was given before he rolled his eyes. "The summer time and hearing about the iced drinks and the teas. That places espresso is bitter." Since it wasn't just one Starbucks that he found bitter he was sure it was the beans, not the equipment or ill trained workers, they couldn't all be poorly trained - right? Nope, he was fairly sure it was starbucks beans which sucked and made their brew bitter. "Pumpkin spice isn't bad...just not by them." He finally commented.

Shaking his head at the others opinion of cons, or rather those who went to them. "I agree although some aren't dressed up, or at least not like that. The males are worse in some ways...some seem to not understand the concept of spa, water, and bathing...or if they do then it's just bad luck for them." He had only gone to a con once, he'd been dragged there several years back, the memories were painful and he'd spent most of the time finding places to be away from everyone else. He was not a social person and being in large crowds bothered him immensely. He knew other people likes to be around people - lots of people - but not him. he understood that cons were places to go and be around people like yourself when normally you weren't, a time to feel normal, but that didn't make it any better for him - it was still a crowd of people. he hated lots of people.

As the other answered, and he sipped his drink, he wasn't all that surprised. he supposed he just assumed everyone was born here even though he knew not everyone was from there. This was a big city with it's ethnic neighborhoods and people from all around the world living here. Yet, he still made the assumption and he knew it was just that - an assumption. "Same here, my parents, my grandparents and who knows." Shrugging his shoulders by way of finishing the idea; who knew how far back his family went back in this city.

"My mother wouldn't want me to go away, even though this city is going to hell, and my father..." Now that man was a sore topic to discuss. but among a select group of online friends, those he was really close to, it was known that his father wasn't exactly all that great. A few, an even smaller group, actually knew everything about his father. "Well...he could careless. he's too busy swimming about in a bottle. I had to move out, he was getting a bit...out of hand." he was trying to sugar coat it, or at least watched the words and terms he used. He wasn't abused, at least not physically, and that was something positive.

Levi felt that familiar unease settle over him as Ian began to trail into things that were clearly uncomfortable for him, which meant they were extremely uncomfortable for Levi himself. He shifted in his seat and let his eyes drop down to the contents of his drink, one hand swirling the straw through the icy slush as Ian chose his words carefully.

Awkward.

"That's.. I'm sorry. I am really shitty at condolences, but," he shrugged it off, giving Ian an uncomfortable expression somewhere between a smile and frown. "Did you at least find somewhere decent to live? With internet?" He leaned forward a little and stared at the man through narrowed eyes. "Please tell me that you have stable internet."

For Levi, that was obviously the most important thing about life. Of course, being the only child of a stable middle class family meant he didn't really have much else to worry about. His bad attitude was all himself - no troubled past or worrisome present to bother himself with.

"It's ok, it really is. I'm no good at those either. I suppose though I should get used to mentioning it as I'm sure mother will be doing plenty of that." he was sure she would, considering the divorce that was going to be happening. It wouldn't happen over night but he would get used to it, his mother talking about it would see to that he was sure. It was also nothing he'd done - it was all his father. So why had he always let it bother him? Maybe because back in high school he didn't want pity or friends to talk about it to their parents and them to be distanced from him, by their own want or their parents? he wasn't sure why but he'd always kept it a secret, hidden away in some dark little box.

Laughing he smiled as the subject changed somewhat and nodded his head. "Maybe not the best place, sleeping on a couch and all, but a friend made an offer I couldn't refuse - and I do mean that. It was less an offer and more a...choice made for me. I wasn't about to say no, not when I needed it...though it is odd living with a girl..." Very odd at times but he was getting used to that. It wasn't like he found her attractive, not in the slightest bit, which kept things less awkward and that was good for him. "Yeah, I have internet, it's how I've been able to play still. Although I do wonder if she doesn't wonder about my lack of outside social life." He said with a bit of laughter in his voice.

"It's stable - I promise. I'm actually planning to get a job so I can help pay the bills to help insure that it remains stable, since me living there does mean more money spent for another mouth to feed." And he wanted to make sure the bills were covered, especially food and the internet." Smiling brightly at the other, a rare thing for Ian, he was happy to think his friend cared in what most would think an odd way - asking about his internet stability and such.

(Sorry it's so late. I never got the notice and was just going through Ian's journal and checked this and noticed it needed a tag from me. So sorry! ::dies:: )

It wasn't something he wanted to do, answering his phone when talking to someone, but when it rang it rang and Ian motioned to the other that he did need to answer it as he'd spied the name on the screen - his mother. Answering it he pressed the phone to his ear.

"Mom, what's up?" Some silence from Ian as the person on the other end presumably started to talk.

"Of course, I'll be right over." Nodding his head quickly, as if she could see the action, and he was hanging up with a quick good bye given to his mother.

Turning back to Levi he flashed an apologetic smile. "I really have to go. She needs some help with moving some things in the house." Things she couldn't move on her own due to weight, and possibly height as well. "We can arrange another meeting here if you'd like...umm...y-yeah if you want to. I enjoyed this." Though he wished he wasn't being pulled away by his mother but he wouldn't deny her anything she asked of him, aside from maybe stepping out of the war going on in the city.

"I'll see you in game." of course. They ran enough together they'd certainly see each other. Grabbing his drink he hurried for the door, slipping his phone into his pocket as he went.

Felyn

(I didn't know if you wanted to finish, since it's been awhile, so I thought I'd end this so we both can get a requirement for growth out of the way. If you wanna do a part two to this, another meeting, let me know. I would love to do more rp's. ::Nods:: )
