Total Attempts: 4

Jewels: 1 Crimson (5/5 charges); 1 Olive (5/5 charges), 1 Sapphire (5/5 charges)

Creature Attempted: Borgnah:: Very like a Bognotti. But bigger, meaner, and hungrier. unlike a Bognotti, the Borgnah is intelligent and can learn that one is a source of food and not prey if tamed. They can and are used as mounts by some of the light weight Magescians.
»»» For Step 1: -20. They are dangerous and difficult to catch.
»»» For Step 3: +10 to train them. Once they are tamed, a Borgnah is quite loyal and doesn't want to leave you.

Step 1

Total attempts: 4 (I need 70-100)
Brognah: 4 tries (+20 Familiarity bonus)
+ 1 Charge of Olive Jewel for a +10

68-20+20+10=78! Success!!

After she took her leave of Toki, Kadryn started to head back to the port when a thought hit her. Borgnah’s lived on Eowyn in the Terra expanse. Since she was here, why not try to catch one? Surely the one’s here will be slightly less wary and easier to catch than those blasted ones on Serenia. Right? I have at least another day or two before Kirosh will be done with his errand so why not? Turning around, Kadryn flew back into Eowyn, going towards the tall dark mountains on the horizon. It was night when she reached the foothills and she decided to sit sleep the night through instead of hunting them down now. Tired as she was from her day long flight, hunting at night would be very risky if she was exhausted! Plus, Gaili dragons were here.
Before she slept, she pulled out the odd charms she’d gotten on a whim from Arick. Apparently they were supposed to help somehow. But they had no instructions! Grumbling to herself, she tried to figure them out, but eventually gave up and slept instead.
Deep intot eh night she woke up. She held still and kept up the slow steady breathing of a sleeper. Something was nearby and had woken her up. Her hand was on the olive talisman like jewel. This one, the shop keeper had told her, would aid her in catching them. Well, how? Her thumb rubbed it as she thought for a moment. Whatever had awoken her wasn’t a dragon; that she was certain about. Her eyes widened as the jewel started glowing. Oh! So all I have to do is rub it! She tossed the jewel away from her and waited see what would happen. Her eyebrow’s shot up as she heard a curious hiss from behind her. She forced herself not to flinch as long hair spider legs tapped around her as a Borgnah stalked over towards the jewel. Finally! She sat up slowly and paused as the Borgnah turned around to look at her then back at the jewel. Its mandibles clattered together and it poked the jewel curiously. Kadryn, sensing this one wasn’t very hostil and maybe was willing to not run, reached slowly into her bag and grabbed a chunk of meat she’d been saving for tomorrow. Offering it out to the Brognah she smiled as it peered at her and calmly accepted the food. That jewel made it calmer!

Step 2

4 tries, so 70-100 needed.
+20 Familiarity

Success!!!

The next few days, she followed, or was followed by, the Borgnah. It seemed to not mind her being about it… or maybe it stayed around because Kadryn fed it food and didn’t threaten it. Whatever the reason, Kadryn didn’t question it. Instead, she set about trying to tame it, when it helped her in battle, she gave it first pick of the meat. When it failed to make a kill she also offered it food. This one was young, or at least she thought it was. It wasn’t as large as the few she’d spotted on Serenia, so it was either younger or just a runt.
When she left the Terra Expanse, the Borgnah almost left. But she waited and called to it, holding a bribe in one hand. Muttering to itself, the Borgnah slowly stalked out into the desert sand. Patting it gently on its spikily furred head, she smiled.
“Good boy. I wonder if I should call you something. Mama always said that names had power and to name something was to extend a small hold over it.” She trekked towards the coast on foot, it was slower than lying, but she had her new friend here and wasn’t about to leave him behind just to save time! She grinned. “Wonder what Kirosh will think when he sees you!” She said to the Borgnah, who looked up at the sign of her voice and clacked it’s mandibles before going back to playing with one of Kadryn’s dragon orbs.
The two day trek back to the port was slow, but fairly easy. The Brognah proved useful in ambushing prey or dragons who tried to attack at night while they rested. It seemed upset that the dragons kept vanishing into dust and not leaving it food to eat. As they approached the port, Kadryn slowed. How was she gonna explain the Brognah? It occurred to her finally that they were considered mosnters.. and killed and ate small children, farm animals and the like. “This may not be my brightest idea.” She said to the Borgnah at her side who was peering with all eight eyes at the bustling port below.

Step 3

4 tries, so 70-100 needed
+20 familiarity
+10 critter bonus

15+20+10=45... wah sad Failed to Train. SO she has a pet Borgnah now....

As expected, she got stopped at the village gates by the guards and told that she couldn’t enter with a Borgnah. Grumbling to herself at the unfairness towards those who wanted exotic pets and mounts, she led her Brognah away.
“Guess I’ll head to the wild tribe camp and see if they’ll take care of you and help train you.” She said to the Borgnah. True to her words, she led her pet off back into the wilderness, heading towards the last location of the Clan’s camp. As they traveled, she tried to get the Borgnah to accept carrying her stuff, but he would have none of it. Every time she tried to put something on his back, he would hiss and dump it off. By the time they reached the tribe, she was tired of it.
“How am I supposed to train you?” She muttered at the Borgnah as she approached the camp.
A look out called out to her, “Is that Borgnah a pet?” It was a dovaa, gaili by the rocky look to its scales and colorations.
“Pet’s probably the right word for it. I wanted to have one as a mount, but it’s just not letting me teach it.” She sighed. “After I finally managed to catch one too!”
He wandered down towards them and held out a hand to the Borgnah. “You did a good job on getting it calmed and tamed. Not sure who one would train a Borgnah.”
“Me neither. And the ports won’t let me enter with him.” She grumbled. “I was going to take it home with me, but apparently not.”
He laughed, “Well, since you did all the hard work of catching and taming, I wouldn’t mind trying to train it! I live here and don’t leave so why not?”
“You’d do that?” Kadryn asked with a smile. “I want to keep him, but…”
“It’s fine. Plus, no one else has one.” He winked at her. “If you ever catch anymore, come back here and I’ll help to train them! I’ve had good luck with other animals, so maybe my luck will help me here.”
