Zokuji watched his prey intently through his focused Byakugan. Two genin were making their way through part of the forest the genin had laid traps in. So far they had made it past the initial set-up and realized they were being targeted. At the very least, Zokuji was happy the intel from his squad was right. It looked like the bigger of the two genin was carrying his unconscious buddy, Shou. His sight had allowed a rough diagnosis, and it looked like he was devoid of any internal injuries but he did need treatment. Gritting his teeth, Zokuji decided to up the gamble. As the two approached his location, he threw a kunai with a dummy explosive tag in between the two. The enemy genin instantly split to two sides, dodging a blast that would never come. The genin that dodged to the left tripped a trap that shot a net of wire out, trapping the boy as his momentum carried him forward. Zokuji slid out from behind a tree and sprinted over to the body, knocking him out with a precise thrust of his Jyuuken.

His Byakugan searched for the genin carrying Shou, but didn't see him. "Damn". A useless net lay where it had missed his target. Zokuji took off sprinting after the trail until his target came back into his field of vision. Zokuji moved in on him, closing the ground by plotting a faster course through the trees as they played their game of cat and mouse. As they simultaneously emerged into a small clearing, the genin slid-turned to face Zokuji and held a kunai up to Shou's cheek. Zokuji stopped just two paces from him and put his hands up. "Oh?" The medic questioned, noting the impractically of the kunai placement. "stop, or I'll slice him open!" The genin shouted, his hands shaking as at Zokuji's passive expression. "But if you slice him open, I'd kill you." He said it matter-of-factly, his eyes seeming uninterested in the outcome. "Isn't he your friend?!" The genin shouted, taking a step back as Zokuji took one forward.

"Well, yea. But I have more friends. What I don't have are any cadavers. You know" Zokuji made a slide and dice motion with his hands. "Like a subject to cut up and experiment on. It's pretty hard to come by in the city. But if I said I found him that way..." Zokuji took another step forward and the genin took two back. "What the hell?! What kind of a monster are you?" Zokuji watched as the genin continued trying to back into the other side of the clearing. He stopped moving to avoid provoking any rash decisions from the captor. Shou's eyes opened and he started to struggle when he heard the medic's words. The genin silenced him by pressing the blade into his cheek hard enough to draw a small bit of blood. "Calm down, you're safer with me than him!". The Hyuuga called out "Actually, if you two stay together I'll have to kill you both. You're the one safer without him!" He grinned and began to run toward the genin. "You're freakin' nuts!" The enemy kicked Shou at Zokuji and turned to sprint into the forest. As he turned, the real Zokuji exploded out of the shrubbery and clothes-lined him to a dead stop. Shou stumbled through the henge, dispelling it as he landed on his butt.
"Always the reckless one, aren't you" muttered Shou. Zokuji closed enough tenketsu to subdue the enemy until they safely left the clearing. “No, I just enjoy taking calculated risks”. Zokuji knelt down and treated the cut on his cheek and the other superficial wounds on his body. “There. You won’t bleed out. Rendezvous with the team and get a better medic to look at you. I need my strength to finish the mission”. Shou pointed in the direction of the camp and mentioned the remaining two gennin.

As Zokuji approached the camp, he spotted the medical supplies he was supposed to bring to the village. He also noticed an imposing person standing between him and his prize. Not sure how to approach, he tried to circle around only to notice that there was wire funneling him in this direction. He started counting the explosive tags and then stopped after he realized it just wouldn’t matter anymore. So, it looked like only an ally was supposed to get through this. Clasping his hands together, he used a henge to transform himself into the shinobi from earlier. His appearance gave the impression that he had been attacked. Hopefully he could get close enough before his farce was discovered.

Zokuji broke running from the forest, heading straight for the pair of gennin. Breathing as though he had been running for miles (which wasn’t hard to fake), he dropped to the ground and rolled over, reaching his arm out to the sky. The two genin rushed over to tend to their fallen comrade. As soon as the first one extended his hand out to help him, Zokuji lashed out and landed a barrage of blows to his chest. Pushing the slumped body out of the way, the Hyuuga leapt to his feet only to be blown off of them by a water bullet. Slightly concussed, Zokuji managed to stagger to his feet in time to barely dodge the barrage that followed. Clearing up his head, he pressed forward with enough reaction time to close the gap. When he got into melee range, he made a wide sweeping motion to invite an attack from the genin. As the genin closed in, Zokuji began to rapidly spin as he kaiten’ed the boy into the forest. Hearing the resulting explosions, and the limp body caught under some debris, the Hyuuga fell to his butt. Breathing heavily, he laid back and tried to recompose himself. He looked over at the downed gennin clutching his chest and half-heartedly raised a fist at him. “This one’s for Shou.” He pulled himself up and smacked the genin on the head with his fist.
Wiping the dust off of his hands, Zokuji looted the camp of its medical supplies and made his way back to his squad.
