A Wandering Esper

Beloved Stargazer

PostPosted: Sun Feb 16, 2014 12:44 pm

Nuhava had wandered into the market, checking out on the state of her gift. One more day would be needed to finalize everything, it seemed. She would allow the swordsmith that much. It was as she had told him - Strength certainly did not mind waiting, as long as the end result matched her specifications.

Now, though, she was simply wandering. She could go harass whoever was in the sparring area, but the goddess did not quite feel like that right now. Maybe some window shopping was in order.

To someone who had known her host, she was highly recognizable - her appearance had not changed yet, beyond the body's gender and the effect of time - the blonde hair was a bit longer, and currently pulled up into a tight bun and topped off with a comb adorned with cherry blossoms. She was wearing an asymmetrical top in shades of brown and oranges, topped off with a short black skirt and a pair of knee-high boots.

Kyrie was enjoying the spoils of the marketplace. It had been her favourite place to go beyond her family's home before as a child. Now though... Now it seemed like a whole new world again. For one, being taller certainly put things into a different perspective. For two, things just... felt different. Perhaps it was because she was more noticeable now. Though such thoughts were very far from her mind. She could care less about lingering glances. She was on a mission. She was tired of wearing her mother's clothes. Not that there was anything wrong with wearing the floaty dresses. They just felt... binding somehow. They were also rather simple. She wanted something that spoke to her vanities a little more.

Wandering slowly through the stalls, she let her dark hand trail over some nice fabric. Perhaps she would make a go at making her own clothes, she mused.

Kyrie was indeed hard to overlook, for better or for worse. Something was definitively causing a bit of a rucus in the area, and she followed the gazes to find a much bigger crow than she had seen last. Well, it had probably been inevitable - growing up was what children did, after all.

But honestly, it was like the whole of them had never seen a goddess before ! Strength couldn't help but roll her eyes, but then walked down the path to meet up with her "Kyrie ! Decided to sprout on me, did you ?" She teased a bit.

Kyrie had not noticed the light tug to her senses that told her when a deity was close at hand. She had been contemplating two different shades of deep blue when the voice cut into her thoughts. Lifting her head at the familiarity afforded her, she turned and blinked a little. The goddess before her looked familiar somehow. Scrolling through the faces she knew, it took her a moment to connect the dots between the friendly young man that had helped her with her mission to find something for her baby bird and the woman that stood before her.

"Graff?" she questioned with a small tilt of her head. No. He had told her that he would not around for much longer. "You are Strength now?" she smiled a little and glanced her over. She still looked very much like her host, except for some rather obvious changes.

"Yep, that would be me." Honestly, she had answered to Graff more than once, especially when she was distracted. As far as Nuhava was concerned, they were a whole, one and the same, and trying to dissociate which was which and who did what was more of an headache than it was worth, unless it was truly necessary.

"What are you looking for ?" She asked. Nuhava wouldn't have minded spending some more time with the no-longer-so-little Crow, after all.

Kyrie fluffed her feathers at the confirmation. It was sad to think that someone had had to give up their life in order for a god to survive. Though she supposed that was the ultimate sacrifice and show of devotion. She hoped that Graff was satisfied with his decision. She believed that he deserved to be happy. The new goddess' question caused her to look down at the dress she was wearing and she lifted it a little.

"I was looking for some new clothes or new material at the very least to make some," she replied and then lifted her head with a sparkle in her blue eyes. "I grew and the only clothes that fit me are my mother's. It's a little weird to be wearing them. They don't really suit me," she smirked and looked back down at the fabric she had been touching. "It is very good to see you again Nuhava. I was hoping that we would meet again some time."

If Kyrie ever wanted to ask those questions that lingered in her mind, then Nuhava would be quite comfortable answering them. The concept was somewhat uncomfortable for some, but she wad, indeed, quite happy and at peace with what she had done.

"Oh, yes." Very important matters. "Wearing someone else's clothes is always a little strange. I could help you look if you would like ? I was hoping we'd see each other again, too."

"Would you really help me?" Kyrie asked with a bit of hopefulness coloring her voice. It was all a little overwhelming when you had the whole of the market to explore for what you needed. She was entirely sure she did not know where to start. "I can't really picture what might look good on me. My skin and feathers are so dark," she smirked and held her arm out.

"When did you change?"
she asked her and took a small step closer to her.

"Of course I would." In lieu of hair, Strength reached out to try and ruffle the top of Kyrie's feathers playfully. "I wouldn't have offered if I wasn't serious, now would I ?"

She could be mean, but Nuhava had no reason to be right now. "Maybe something light to contrast with those lovely dark feathers of yours... A neutral color, maybe ?" She was no fashion wonder, but neutrals fitted everybody, right ? "Was there something in particular you had in mind ?"

As for Kyrie's question, it was more complicated an answer than she thought it to be, and Nuhava would try to explain it the best she could. "Well, technically I haven't really... changed yet. Only my gender did. Im still human, or at least mostly so." Which explained while she still looked so much like herself. Wait, no.

Egh.

"I left, like I told you. My gender changed when we came back from that. I tried really, really hard to help someone who needed it, and I managed it, but I lost grip on some things I had been holding back for my..." Eghhhh. That damned mental line... !! "...Graff's sake. It's really hard to separate what he did and what I did, im sorry if it's confusing. We're just one person now, so it feels like i've done everything, even if it isn't true."

Kyrie blinked and then smiled at the affectionate gesture Nuhava afforded her. Reaching up, she gently combed a few wayward feathers back into place and she shook her head.
"No. I suppose not," she agreed and looked back to the bolts of cloth at her suggestion. Now that made sense. Lighter shades would show up better against her dark colorings. Even though clothes felt like more of a means to an end, she definitely wanted them to look good. She liked looking her best.

Turning her attention back to the goddess beside her, she listened intently to her as she struggled to explain her transformation. Nodding in remembrance of Graff mentioning a journey, she frowned a little at the show of frustration, and then smiled with understanding.

"So... you are still Graff. He is technically still here, but... fading?"
she suggested to see if she really did understand what she was trying to explain. "You are in control and he is changing but his soul is still there?"

"No, no..." How could she explain this ? Especially to Kyrie, who never had to bother with anything remotely close to this. Strength pondered this for a moment, eying their surroundings. She watched one of the seamstresses mixing a batch of dye, combining colors, and then she had an idea.

"It's like... You've ever played with play dough, Kyrie ? Or mixed colors ? Like, if you take... blue and red, you mix them together and the color becomes purple ? The red and the blue arn't gone, they didn't vanish or anything, they just mixed with each other and became a new color ? It's kind of like that." A little simplistic take on something that was so serious, but hopefully it would help.

"So... It's like... Im red, im blue... Wait." Ergh. "The Nuhava that was there before is red. Graff is blue. Purple's me. He's not gone, he's not fading, he's just... well... me. Does that help ?"

Kyrie's hopeful expression fell a little as it seemed she had not quite understood what the goddess had been trying to explain to her. Following her eyes to the seamstress working with dyes. She watched the woman a moment, then looked back at the eagerness in her companion's voice. Nodding her head vigorously, she continued to listen intently to her. Now that made things much clearer, she thought as understanding came crashing down on her. Reaching out, she caught the goddess lightly by her arm with a bit of excitement.

"So... he will always be here and the you before the fading will always be here, but together you blend and become a new being?" she suggested with a small tilt of her head. "Do you think you are both happy with your choices?" she asked boldly.

"Yes, that's exactly how it is." She nodded. She would have to keep that metaphor handy in case she had to explain it again the future - it could certainly come in handy.

Kyrie's question was indeed a bold one, but Nuhava had no issue with it. That curiosity was the sign of an open mind, and it would serve her well. "Yes." She said, with no hesitation. "There are a great many wonderful things that I already happened to me that would probably never have happened if I had not made the choices I had made."

There were things her host had taught her that might have gotten her a long time to understand, if she had ever done do.

Kyrie decided she liked all of this. She liked that the mortals that gave themselves to the gods were not completely lost. It made it seem less... sad. True, loss and death were fast becoming familiar and comfortable subjects within her small life, but it did not change the feeling of sorrow she got when she thought about it too much. She did not like loss. It left holes where things should be and she liked things to be where they belonged. It warmed her heart to know that the souls of the mortals that gave themselves to the gods would always be present as long as the deity existed.

As Nuhava answered her bold question, she felt herself smile and nod in acceptance. That was good. It was good to learn from the choices you made.
"Many wonderful things like this change?" she asked. "How was your journey? Was it very difficult?"

Of course, things were not always so black and white. Not all hosts survived in any sort of manner, nevermind this very manner. It was a very personal thing, the relationship in between an host and a god.

But Kyrie would learn this much, in time.

"This would probably have happened no matter what." She was female and Graff had been male. It had been inevitable unless she had decided to keep his gender, but it was not something she had honestly been interested to.

"I have met many people, and I do not think I would have gotten close to them before." She smiled. "I've made a great deal of friends." To say nothing of her mate, but that was another story entierly.

"But weren't we looking for clothing ?" She poked her beak teasingly. "Let's keep going. We can keep talking as we look."
