This thread is being made in suggestion by D to help Mikomi make some friends, seeing how I can never get a decent rp in...

Yay!

It seemed so odd as the little light stared up at the lanturn shop's door. She had come to this portal so many times the past few days, never truely walking inside just yet. At least, not on her own.

But this place, it seemed to call to her, even though she had no idea why. Tayne would know.

But that was a question that could only be answered by Tayne, who indeed wasn't there at the time. The only question she could answer rattled in her brain.

Should I go in?

Riyana looked outside the door, staring at the little lanturn who seemed too afraid to move. She'd met the quiet purple one a time before, but that had been when her walls had been just as built up and just as high. It had een difficult for her to open up and chit-chat, and Riyana was still a bit flighty, but things were different now.

She was bigger, and more ready to conquer her fears and break down her walls. It wasn't easy for her, but she couldn't change to become a better person if she stayed in hiding. Besides, at least Riyana could enter the shop, even when she was smaller.

It seemed the wide-eyed violet one needed a smidge of encouragement.

A small, gentle smile curved her lips as she pushed open the door of the shop. Peeking out from the doorframe, she hoped she appeared as non-intimidating as possible. "Say, why don't you come inside? It's warmer inside than out here. Besides," she continued, opening the door wider in welcome, "I'd appreciate the company seeing as I'm here by myself."

There.

WIth any luck, she could draw the violet one in. Maybe she could get her to talk, or chit-chat; draw her out of her shell. Mikomi reminded Riyana so much of herself that it was eerie. Was that what she'd appeared to everyone before? Perhaps. Perhaps.

As the door swung open, the little light jumped with surprise, then shook her head. Doors were supposed to open, there was nothing to be afraid of.

She just had to keep telling herself that...

Looking back up at the large blue girl, she forced herself to allow her mouth to curl up in the smallest of smiles. Maybe it was a mistake to come here without Tayne, but it was too late to turn back now...

"Thank you..." she said softly as she held the wooden portal with her own delicatly marked hand to keep it open as she began walking in.

Riyana didn't blame the violet one for appearing so shy. It wasn't long before that Riyana was just as skiddish, just as hesitant and coy. Heck, she still fell back upon old habits, even though a new feeling filled her with an angelic sort of grace and joy. She was happier now than she'd been before, and there was a new patience that seemed to take hold of her.

She liked herself better now, and her happiness seemed only to grow day by day.

But that didn't mean she'd forgotten what it was like before, with the terrors of the world which once surrounded her.

Maybe this shy violet was like her - maybe she could help draw out the little lanturn with friendliness.

"I'm sorry to be so forward and rude, but I'm Riyana - I know we've met before, but I fear I've forgotten your name."

There - initial introductions were always a good way of playing the getting-to-know-you game. Riyana moved over to a long couch in the corner of the room, hoping Mikomi would take the hint and sit down with her.

Knew? The blue girl didn't look familiar... But she felt familliar, the warm affectionate aura that seemed to radiate from her body.

"Oh? Uh... you're not really...being rude..." she began, clinging to her arm shyly. "I cannot remember your name either..." She now felt like she was almost being a pest... "I am Mikomi..."

Looking up with wonder, it felt almost like the smallest of pebbles had been lifted off of her shoulders. The burden was still there, but even this slight sense of comfort was well... comforting. Maybe this wasn't such a bad idea after all...

((Sorry for the delay!))

Riyana studied Mikomi carefully, not wanting to intimidate the other girl. It seemed so strange. In this purple lanturn she found facets of herself, that shy little blue light, scared of her own shadow! She never thought she was so coy before, but now, looking at one who seemed to similar, Riyana couldn't help but be curious.

Was this how Braedan saw her?

Perhaps it was her growth, perhaps it was her age, whatever the case Riyana couldn't help but feel some sort of kindred with the violet one. She had been in the girls position, and it was strange that Riyana wasn't all but shaking in her sandals. A little growth went a long way, apparantly.

"Well it's nice to meet you, Mikomi - care to have a seat?" She patted the seat next to her, trying hard to keep her glow soft and friendly. Too much friendliness could be just as intimidating as none at all!

Mikomi was delicate, in a sense; delicate just like herself.

Now what? Riyana suddenly realized that there wasn't much for her to do. How did one go about making idle conversation? Usually Braedan was the one to elicit some form of speaking, or Toshi or Dusk! But now she was the one to entertain Mikomi, she was the one to host the afternoons events.

Would they sit in silence or would they be bold and try something else?

How did one go about playing a good hostess? Riyana suddenly wasn't so sure.

"So, um - " she hesitated, biting back her words, nibbling cautiously on her lower lip. "Do you know many others from the shop?"

There. Maybe they knew mutual friends. It was possible, wasn't it?

Mikomi withdrew into her own mind as the question of knowing others was pressed. Deep within her own thoughts she wandered, trying to place an answer to the blue femme's inquisition.

But all there was was a blank slate; none of it being filled, except for her guardian of course.

Timidly taking the seat that the girl had offered, she sighed, looking down at her marked feet.

"No... not really... there was a pink haired girl that Mama talked to when she took me here for a visit... but I didn't talk to her much..." What was the girl's name again? She had already forgotten. Just like she had forgotten the blue girl's name...

"What was your name again? I... I really don't remember..." Great. Just great. What a way to start a conversation...
