Well it had happened.

Here she was, all alone. Stuck in the dark cold unknown.

All by herself.

She had no idea where she was, or what was going to happen to her. But one thing kept running through her mind and making her bright eyes chuckle depsite her situation, wouldn't Navalin just love to pester her about this one?

She had known better than to go out on her own. Navalin had tried to tell her not to, the guards had tried to tell her, even her Father had tried! But she had told each and every one of them that she was capable of caring for her own well being! And truly, she thought she was! But well, perhaps now she was realizing she wasn't quite so capable. Perhaps she really should have taken a guard escort like her mate and Father had advised her to. Maybe then she wouldn't be lost, and vulnerable to anyone who dared come her way.

She had no idea where she was, only that wherever it was, did not look inviting at all. It was dark and dreary. Cold and almost empty, the air was thick and something in her gut told her to run for her life. But something in her muscles was forcing her to stay. She had no idea what was going to happen to her, but whatever it was. It definitely couldn't be good.

User ImageIt was a fairly good day for Bozi, surprisingly enough. He'd been set to the task of hunting today, and while he wasn't very good at bringing down large prey, he had seen an injured gazelle pass by the previous day that couldn't have made it very far, considering it had been nearly dusk when it had gone by. He could easily follow the trail and take it down to bring back for the hungry demons. Not only would he appease their hunger and gain a bit of respite from their constant abuse, but he'd be spending the day blissfully alone. He wouldn't have to cower and grovel and fear he'd make one of his masters angry.

The pastel lion soon spotted the injured gazelle. It had a broken leg from the looks of things, and was laying down, bleating quietly for help. It wouldn't be going anywhere anytime soon, and since he was the only slave to have gone in this direction, he knew he could take his time. He crouched behind a rock, wondering if the gazelle would die on its own and he wouldn't have to kill it. His thoughts were interrupted however as the wind changed, bringing a new scent to his nose. A lioness.

Fear gripped his heart and he turned quickly to see an unfamiliar female walking his way. He knew he didn't blend in well with his surroundings, but he froze like a deer caught in headlights to try to not be seen. It was his natural reaction, even though the lioness approaching him certainly wasn't a demon. Bozi's life had been full of pain and dominance inflicted by those that weren't pale in color, so any lion or lioness with the proper tones struck him down without even so much as lifting a paw.

Steady, he thought to himself. Just breathe...maybe she'll go by.

She was so scared, her heart had begun to beat more rapidly just from the thought of being alone. Soon her eyes were darting every which way, just hoping for some sign of life! And soon, they got it, in more than one way. A bleating gazelle with a broken leg ... had it broken its leg on its own? Was there something nearby?!

A gasp escaped her throat as she realized she was interrupting someone's hunting party. but who's?! A quick glance around and she spotted her answer, a gorgeous pale lion. His colors were simply stunning, very much unlike those she would find at home. Light purples and blues, such a lovely pairing. But she dare not come any closer, she was intruding upon his kill. She was in serious trouble here.

"Oh ... i'm terribly sorry. I didn't mean to intrude, i'm merely lost. P..Please, i'll just be on my way. Honest, I wasn't out to steal your meal or your territory." She nearly whispered, as her ears fell back and her tail wrapped tightly around her legs. Slowly she began to step backwards, careful to keep an eye on the lion in case he prepared to attack.

"I'll just be on my way, just pretend I wasn't here ... o-ok?!"

Bozi's eyes widened as the female caught sight of him, and he was quite surprised to see her cower away as he himself would have done. He wasn't used to having someone back away from him and apologize, and for a few moments he was completely thrown off. He didn't think of himself as an imposing lion, thanks to his small size and harmless appearance. The scars on his muzzle might come off as tough, but when paired with his body language and expression it was clear to see that he hadn't won them in some great battle.

"It's okay!" he called out, his voice shaking just a bit. "I...I don't think it's going anywhere soon, miss. You didn't do anything wrong!" He honestly had no idea what to say to the female. The fact that she was anxious for making him upset...it was stunning to even think! Bozi glanced around quickly to make sure there were no demons around that she might be cowering from, but when it was confirmed he was the only one, he let his ears lift slightly from being pressed against his head.

"If you're a rouge, miss, I wouldn't suggest staying here. It's...it's not very safe." Although she wasn't of pastel or bright coloring like he was...she might be able to pass for a demon. Still, it was better to warn her.

It's okay!'

She heard him call out from across the expanse, but she still thought she must have misheard him. Why on earth would he be telling her it was OK? It so wasn't OK for her to barge onto his meal like this! She had to go, get as far away from here as possible! But then he continued, continued trying to persuade her that she was perfectly fine with being there.

That was strange, coming from a rogue at least. Rogue's from what she understood, were the type who wanted to be left to their own devices. They didn't welcome the input of others, yet here he was. Almost trying to will her to stay? Or was that merely her mind playing tricks on her? Arenji paused in her steps and narrowed her eyes at the male across from her. He was small, but definitely scarred and intimidating. Should she trust him, or follow her instincts?

If she were to follow her instincts, she would be doing exactly what every other Amazon did. Stereotyping a male based on who they are. She didn't want to be that female, she needed to give him a chance. Even if it scared her to death.

"A-Are you sure? B-But your meal? I don't want to interrupt, or be a burden. I'm only trying to find my way through. I am a rogue, yes, but what is it that doesn't make this place safe? And if it isn't safe, why are you here?!" She called back curiously still unsure whether she should step forward.

The gazelle was in hysterics by this point with the two lions calling back and forth over it, so Bozi decided it would be best for him to close the distance. He didn't want to alert any demons to the presence of the lioness, after all. He slowly moved forward, keeping his head down and belly low, as submissive as he could get.

"It's my pride," he said, a bit quieter now that he was closer. He stopped with plenty of room to spare, though, and kept his eyes on her toes. "They don't take kindly to strangers, especially if you are not the proper colors. I'm not sure where you'd fit, you see...they favor dark, natural colors here. You're natural...but your brown is very light," he said in an apologetic voice. "I don't know what they'd do with you if they captured you. Either make you a slave, as I am, which is what you do not want to happen, or bless you and bring you in as a demon. But if I were you I'd stay out completely."

He glanced at the gazelle which had settled down now that the lions weren't on either side of it, and resumed chewing at its leg in pain. "That's not mine," he added quietly. "It's for the demons. You're not interrupting, miss."

Arenji's posture stiffened a bit as the male began to close the distance between them. But as she took note as his low submissive stance, and his inability to look further up than her feet she realized there was something more to him than she had originally realized. Her body softened and she closed the gap, nodding politely to him as she stood before him.

"Oh I see," She mouthed, frowning the entire time. "Well I most definitely do not belong here, I have a pride and a mate back home. I am only out here to ... to ... well I guess it isn't important at the moment." Cutting off her own thoughts, she could feel a blush building in her cheeks and she tried to fight it back. "I thank you for your worry ... ahhh .. i'm sorry I didn't get your name. I am Arenji and of the Amazons. It is a pleasure to meet you my knight in shining colors!" Lifting a paw, she stifled a giggle with it and continued on.

"Well if that there isn't your's, what say you we find a little something of our own to eat? Afterall, its the least I could do after your kind words and warnings..."

Of course, she had a little something else up her sleeve too, but she'd save that for later. This male had handsome genes, and despite his life as a slave, she was sure there was more to him than he would admit.

A pride and a mate? That made Bozi feel a bit better. If she was gone too long surely someone would come looking for her to save her. They were near the edge of the pride, though, and demons rarely ventured this far out, preferring to stay among their own kind. Hopefully once this chat was over she would go on her merry way and never come back. Not that Bozi didn't appreciate her kind words and soft way of talking, of course. It was a balm to his ears, even though he flinched when she raised her paw to simply cover her mouth.

"Oh no, I couldn't," he said, shrinking back a bit more. "It's forbidden for slaves to eat before demons. I...I'm sorry," he added, curling his tail around his hind feet. "Were the circumstances different I might but..."

He shook his head, risking a glance up to her face. She wanted to know his name? No one called him by his name...he wasn't even sure the demons knew it. The slaves did, but they didn't have much time to talk to one another. Her name was beautiful, and he was incredibly hesitant to give her his own, if only for the meaning behind it. Idiot...his father hadn't been pleased with his pelt colors after all.

"Bozi," he mumbled quietly, looking away in shame. Had he been born like his siblings with dark colors rather than light, perhaps his father would have realized he wasn't an idiot after all.

Arenji huffed at his refusal to go away with her and find some dinner of their own. She was going to take this as a personal insult! Forget those filthy demons, he was a lion and deserved to be treated as such! There were no slaves in her eyes, only lions ... really ... handsome ... lions ....

Shaking her head clear of her thoughts, she came back to reality with a bit of a hurt look to her face. "Ohhhh yes you can, and you most certainly will! I dare so much as one demon to challenge me for borrowing you for one day! I come from a long line of these 'colored' lions you claim they adore so much. And if need be, I will call upon them to tear all their hides apart!"

She had picked her donor dammit, and nothing was going to take him away from her. DEMONS OR NOT! Her Dad would rip them all to shreds for messing with her baby girl.

"Now come along Bozi, you're my slave for the day. And today, we're dining out." Nodding matter of factly, she stared down the male and dared him to argue. She was a sweet creature, but she would not stand for him allowing himself to be trated so low around her. Not for a second.

"Well? Are you coming, or should I tickle you into submission?" With a grin on her maw she awaited the male's decision.

As irritation started to show on Arenji's face, Bozi crouched so low his chest brushed the dirt beneath his paws. Oh no...she was getting angry at him. Wait..no...at the demons? He had no idea what to think of her now that she was starting to speak of teaching the demons a lesson. Oh dear...she had no idea what she'd be dealing with.

The realization struck him, though, that if he listened to her, he could save her. All she wanted was to eat...they could go off and find the herd that the injured gazelle had been following, get something - he wouldn't eat TOO much, he told himself, and he wouldn't have any more today or tomorrow to make up for it - for them to nibble on, and then she could be on her merry way. Then he'd go back for the gazelle for the demons and no one would be the wiser!

"...I'll...I'll come. As long as I stay within the pride lands," he said, lifting his head just a bit, his eyes flicking up to Arenji's for just a moment. "If the demons find out I left, even to get food, the...well." He'd be killed of course. Slaves weren't allowed outside unless with a demon. "Let's just stay in the lands...the herd the gazelle is from can't be far."

Arenji's face quickly softened again as she saw Bozi begin to let up to her plan. He was a slave, he didn't deserve it, but he was one! As such he would listen to her, and she would give him the freest experience she could, and in exchange ... she would have some lovely cubs of her own to bring home to her mate. Though she had not quite filled him in on that part yet. But he was a male, what male wasn't open to the idea she was going to offer him?

"Very well, you have a deal. We will stay within your lands. I wouldn't dream of doing anything so drastic as getting you killed. But you will have dinner with me!" She chirped happily, bouncing around the male and gently caressing him with her tail.

"Now! I'm hungry, how about that meal?!"
