This can get him into heaps of trouble with the higher-ups since he has a habit of putting aside work to party except when it comes to subjects he is interested in. He is extremely energetic and full of enthusiasm when it comes to subject he enjoys. Should he find any, he will throw himself at them, body and soul, and becomes a workaholic, forgetting everything else. His apparent outgoing personality when he isn't fixated on a project has made him quite popular amongst the younger recruits that have not known him long enough.
However, like many of his family, Shino may have a few screws loose in the head. His genetics coupled with a unique upbringing has made him a sociopath in the eyes of many clinician. His morals and ethics aren't the same as his colleague's, but since he keeps quiet about them, preferring to turn people's attention on less "serious" topics, it isn't something easy to notic. His charisma is only surface deep and he has trouble forging strong relationships with his entourage. On his bad days, he is easily angered and can become extremely violent. His mood swings are usually managed through medication, but since it hinders his performance, he usually does not take them during war time or emergencies. In those moments, the fake persona created by his medicine vanishes and Jekyll would make way for Hyde only that it isn't clear who came first. 」

Shino was the third child of an ever expanding family. His older, twin sister, Aya, would be inheriting the position of Head. Aya was actually the second child, but it is said that their eldest sister had passed away. At least, that was what he and the rest of the family were made to believe...He and his younger brother Nise along with all their adoptive siblings were to assist her by either taking up an administrative role or learn the way of the sword and go out in the field to reinforce their racketeering business or scout for new members.
Shino and his biological siblings had inherited their mother's traits which made them stand out as 'gaijins'. They were born before her rise to power or even her marriage with their father and had to quickly learn how to fend for themselves. It did not help that they were taught foreign customs despite living in a neighborhood mostly composed of Asian. This led to an odd combination of western and eastern culture in the Báthory household. Their differences brought forward more than one conflict of ideology with the inhabitants of Rukongai that have mythicized the family. Though both disliked one another, they knew that they could not live without the other and begrudgingly retained a relationship of distrust and contempt.
The main Báthory family harbored quite a few skeletons in their closet. Literally. Though they had started with the intentions of healing, their thirst for knowledge and morbid curiosity about human anatomy has turned their experimentation from occasional new concoction administered to volunteers to regular dissection and grafting of live victims. Their twisted little hobby was illegal of course, but law had never stopped the Báthorys before and in this case,they were the law.
Their large, secluded estate and wealth were ideal to lure in new victims to torment. Under their residence lay a lab that acted as dungeon equipped with all sorts of surgical equipment that was only accessible to Agnes and her biological children. They even did the cleaning themselves to prevent any house servants from entering the area. It was in a slightly deranged family that Shino was born. He would be exposed to open flesh and bloody innards from as far as he could remember, his family explaining that it was their secret family bonding ways to encourage him to take up a scalpel even before he learned how to walk.
He grew up to believe that cutting open living creatures and inflicting pain was something rewarding, almost therapeutic in his case. It wasn't long before he grew more daring than his teachers in his experiments, spending more and more time underground and extending his victims to beasts of all kind.
At the same time, he noticed a deterioration in his father's mental health. Though the man had shared his mother's interests, he had never suspected that she would turn on him. Shino could not find any proof so skilled his mother was at erasing any evidence, but he was no fool. The event was an epiphany to him. It made him realize that he could do whatever he wanted so long as he did not get caught. He grew restless and rebellious, getting into fights more often then before. It is said that some minor members of the family would go missing during those times, but since he had managed to set up his own lab in a location only known to him, no one could prove anything.
At around a 8 decades old, Shino shifted his attention to hollows after witnessing one devour half a settlement of Rukongai inhabitants before the Shinigami could make it in time. It was while observing the Shinigamis at work that he came to realize that their technological advancement and knowledge of demon arts were something he absolutely needed to further his experimentation. Unfortunately, joining the Academy was something his family could not accept. They had had plans for him and they believed that he could serve his family better should he remain in Rukongai. They also harbored a grudge against the reapers for a little skirmish they had.
It took quite some work to finally convince the family head that having a representative in the Gotei would do more harm than good, but the winning argument was that he could finally grow stronger and be the main source of reiryoku for their family's specialization: the Istenvas ore.
Many had their doubts about whether or not he would be up for the task he had given himself, but he persevered, motivated by his own curiosity and the pressure exerted on him by his mother. Once he graduated from the Academy, he had applied to both Squad 4 and Squad 12, but was advised to go for the 12th since he did show minimum combat aptitude. Though he did not get to learn how to preserve one's life to extend the time he could experiment on something, he did get the opportunity to perform research on a wide range of spiritual beings.
The Academy had changed him much to his family's dismay or relief depending on who was asked. Counselors had noticed Shino's erratic, violent behavior though they could never get the full story out of him. Whenever asked about his family, he would change the subject or just remain quiet with a pleasant little smile plastered on his face. He was stubborn in that aspect and they ended giving him medication to control his outbursts. It turned his violent outbursts were into enthusiasm bordering ADD and turned a reclusive individual into a popular social figure amongst Academy students and lower level Shinigamis once he graduated.
As part of the 12th division, he had access on much information from previous research on the zanpakuto and various weapon. This ignited a new passion within him and he began to adamantly study the multiple weapons in Seireitei's armoury. The large quantity of weapon allowed him to focus without growing bored. His enthusiasm fuelled him, allowing him to pull an unhealthy number of all-nighters. It wouldn't be a first to have his captain knock him out and send him to 4th division for IV drops or tie him down to his bed to make sure he gets an appropriate amount of sleep.
His hard work paid off in the long run and he was granted the ability to activate his Bankai, a feat in itself considering his very young age.

It was only then that she slowly slipped her husband poison to weaken him and drive him to the brink of madness. It was a risky bet, risking their house's credibility in favor of weakening her husband's influence so that she could take over. Nevertheless, she succeeded mainly by painting her ascent with the blood of any opposing factions. It was through her cunning and ruthless ways that the house was renamed to that of her first marriage: House of Báthory. It was an unheard thing at the time, but with their family's control over the local gangs and her fearsome ruthlessness, oppositions were scarce. She then took on the job of elevating her house's status to that above plebeians so that she may restore her foreign ways, but unsatisfied and greedy for power, she went even further by establishing a matriarchal reign. Although they were never officially recognized as nobles, she made sure that her children were inferior in no way even going as far as disowning those she deemed unworthy. They were known as the Noble Beggars, not because of a lack of assets, but because they ruled the outer districts through violence and trafficking of illicit substances and, sometimes, going as far as trafficking of live beings. Seireitei tried to intervene, but their meddling only brought even more chaos to the impoverished districts as many were relying on the social structure the family had put in place to live. An illicit deal was struck: the Báthory kept their business to activities relatively humane and ethical in exchange of being allowed to continue without any interference. Unfortunately, the conditions only applied to the Báthorys 'gang' business and not their secret extra curricular activities, activities only the core members of the family knew about. It was only 5 decades after her arrival in Rukongai that the bloody reign of Agnes Báthory reached its peak. One peculiarity of the family is that anyone could be adopted should they prove themselves worthy of the name and even become the next head should they be female and possess skills that were superior to those of the current heir by far. This was her method of keeping her men and her children on their toes and perhaps her secret to success. She did not favor her children over prospective recruits, everyone had to work to maintain their position. Nationality, race, or even species mattered little to her so long as one was competent. However, she is known to have a certain bias towards those who have potential to become Shinigami. That is because the head of the family needed their spiritual energy for a special ore only they knew how to refine: the Istenvas. It is also her way to make sure that she deprived Seireitei of recruits, a petty move for having meddled into her affairs decades ago. If competency was rewarded, the opposite would be punished severely. Failure is not an option amongst the Báthory and corporal punishment was often employed. However, those who have fallen out of Agnes' favor are oftentimes never seen again. Should a sword be made of that ore and have spiritual energy poured into it, it will be able to repel a blow from a zanpakuto should there be enough energy stored inside. However, against a normal blade, it will also become just that, a normal sword without any spiritual affinity. This does not mean that a soul can go against a Shinigami without any problem as the ore does not protect its wielder from enemy spiritual pressure. In fact, it can sometimes emit enough pressure to harm is wielder in response to the presence of a powerful opponent. Considering the fact that they lived outside of Seireitei, spiritual energy is actually quite hard to come across so the average Istenvas blades can only match against a low level Seireitei soldier for no more than half an hour. The family heirloom Hadak Ura, however, only wielded by the current head of the family, is said to be able to rival a young captain for a short amount of time. All members of the family that have spiritual affinity are to offer their energy to the blade on a weekly basis. Tesuno Hakushaku is a tall spirit reaching up to twice the average height of a man. It appears to be female, having its body covered by a body molding black suit with protective padding placed around its chest, shoulder and breasts. A piece of clothes and a long katana are belted at its waist. Its got a pair of gauntlet with talons at the end of its fingertips. Its upper body is extremely lean while its lower body is rather clumsy looking. It does not appear to have any functional knees, having its legs permanently bent. It has no feet, instead, its lower limbs end in a pointed stump covered in hard armor, but it does not encumber it in the least bit as it does not need feet to walk. Like its shields, it can levitate and float around and incredible speed.
Its head is covered in a metallic helmet designed to mimic a beast's elongated skull with razor sharp teeth and a single horn poking out where its nose would have otherwise been. The skull's open jaws reveal a smooth black surface where one would have expected a face. Around it are 8 floating shields, shaped like Shino's Shikai shields, except completely flat and without any Gothic figures sculpted into them.
It does not speak, and always remains at a safe distance unless beckoned by Shino to approach. Even when training, it remains silent.

☯|Zanpakutō Shikai Abilities| 「
Aegis' Cloak[Passive]: Allows the 8 shields to float around Shino like a cloak. They obey his will and do not require any movement or incantation to move about. The anchors at their back can be detached to allow them more freedom of movement, but they must remain within 1 km radius of Shino for him to be able to control them. Once out of that range, the shields will lose their ability to levitate. At Shikai level, the shield's movements move at around at half the speed of Shino's shunpo speed so should he be moving about a lot, he will need to hold onto them else they will be left behind.
Black Vault: As one may have guessed, the shields are empty on the inside and are capable of storing almost anything so long as the content fits. The shields are impermeable to matter and spiritual residue meaning that they do not let anything in or out once closed shut, but they are much easier to break from the inside than from the outside. They can completely mask the presence of their content though they still emit spiritual energy since they are materializations of Shino's shikai.
Kido or spiritual energy based attacks from both himself and individuals with weaker spiritual power can be stored for delayed release. This can be used to return a weaker individual's attack against them so long as the caster isn't too strong otherwise, the shields will not be able to contain the spell and be destroyed from the inside.
The above implies that Shino can store his own spiritual energy within the shield beforehand so that he can is it as an additional energy pool. In shikai, he may only store the equivalent of his current energy pool for at most 24 hours [ Need to translate into posts numbers] meaning that it has the potential to double his stamina if he exhausted himself completely the day before to fill up the energy pool. To be able to use the stored energy, he must have filled all 8 of them and he may only withdraw all of it at once.
Stored items are kept even once the zanpakuto is sealed, but are not accessible unless shikai is once more activated. Contents shrink in size along with the shields to fit the sealed form and will be stuck in that form should someone manage to break off the corresponding ornament.
Evanescence: The shields will scatter around a location of Shino's choice and release spiritual energy to form an energy shield. Should anything touch the shield, coming from outside or inside the shielded area, it will be disintegrated unless coated with very dense reiatsu. This includes low level energy based attacks. For it to be activated, all shields used for this move must have had energy stored in them. The amount of energy stored dictates how long the shields can last. At Shikai level, Shino can only maintain it for half an hour at most at its max radius of 2 meters. He can refuel it should he still be at peak condition to extend it by another quarter hour. Destroying even one of the shields used in the barrier is enough to dispel it.
Offering: Materialize a new shield should one be broken by sacrificing 2 souls. It is done by locking the two sacrifices into the remaining shields and sapping their reiryoku dry and recycles the souls' reishi. The process is slow and can take up to a week. Obviously, this cannot be done to OC's without permission because it would be equivalent to killing another character. It would imply that Shino needs to feed off NPCs and simply allowing him to jump into a Rukongai district, nab one and be on his merry way is a bit game breaking considering the fact that it is an illegal move. To give the authorities the opportunity to intervene, he can only successfully capture 1 NPC after 5 uninterrupted posts of at least 300 words with at least 2 hours OoC between each posts. For this, I request permission to double (quintuple? XD) post.

The shield themselves are much harder to break in addition to having grown in strength proportionally to Shino increase in spiritual pressure. The inside is as solid as the outside and emit absolutely no spiritual presence. The fact that the shield have acquired so much more weight makes them ideal ramming tools.
Sacrophagi: Can store as much energy as before except that the shields can now convert foreign spiritual energy and add it to Shino's. This includes energy based attacks or trapped individuals with spiritual energy.
Black Maiden: Max area of effect has a diameter of 8 meter and can be held of twice as long. In addition to only maintaining an energy field around the selected area, it can now shoot needle thin blasts of spiritual beams that disintegrate all it touches except the shields themselves and the energy field they produce. The blasts are shot from the back of the shields and aimed towards the center so they can be avoided should one step in between two shields while taking care not to touch the force field.
New abilities
Phantom's Grace [Passive]: Deflect rays of light, making the shields almost imperceptible to the naked eye. Their presence is completely erased as well. Only the extremely skilled spiritual sensors can guess their general location by tracing their faint spiritual link to Shino.
Drifting Cadaver: Turn the inside of the shields into portals. Requires a minimum of 2 empty shields. Anything or anyone can enter the portal as soon as it is generated including other shields. The activation of this ability does not change the appearance of the shield, the insides remain completely black.
