It was a slow go back to her room.
When she wasn't too wrapped up in happy day dreams that made her forget she was supposed to be walking, she was trying to will her limbs to move with any sort of natural ease and pace. The procedure had exhausted her down to her core, and it was a long walk back to the undead dorms. Thankfully the slow pace meant she'd probably run in to someone she knew, and who knew her enough to know what was going on; she was bursting to tell someone, just as much as she wanted to sleep.
She hadn't even left the main building before she spotted a familiar lurching figure, and was quick to raise her arm, flagging him over. Amrita was grinning like a fiend, despite how exhausted her body language was.
"Chris! Are you busy? I have something to tell you!"

Christof was in the midst of a bit of gardening. He knew that there were gnomes to do this sort of thing, but he enjoyed keeping busy, doing something that got him out of the crypt-workshop. He set down the wheelbarrow as he heard his name called, spirit lifting when he spotted her. Good news? Good news was always good. His stitched mouth twisted into a wide smile, waving as he left his tools to limp over to meet her. Amrita certainly looked as though she had been busy. Exhausted, really, and he reached to gingerly feel her forehead to make sure she was a proper clammy.

He limped his way over to meet her and she stood still while he did, since it was infinitely easier than wasting the energy to go in any direction that wasn't home. The way he felt her forehead distracted her enough to not just blurt out her news right away. He'd find that she was warm - very warm. Unnatural for an Undead, but understandable all things considered.
She swatted his hand away and reached out to hold his upper arms, half in an attempt to hold herself up but also partially to hold his attention.
"It's gone!" She whispered out excitedly and as loud as she dared, knowing it was a secret to begin with.

Was she sick? What had happened? Was she tormenting humans again? He hesitated as she grabbed him, brows knit in confusion.
What was gone?

Christof didn't seem to get it right away, but that was okay. Everything was okay now. Her gaze shifted to the small cannister of dried herbs she still held in her hand, though the instructions had been tucked away long ago, and smiled brightly.
"The tag." She reminded him, in a lower voice. "It's gone!"

Tag- for a moment, he thought to look at her dress, wondering if it was store-bought and possibly had been itching her when realization hit.
The hunchback flinched, brows rising higher as his expression turned from confusion to disbelief. He managed to pull a hand free to sign, "Thought-could-not-be-removed?"

"I did too." Amrita confirmed, letting him go to stand on her own two feet, however weakly. "But we were wrong. It's gone." Her voice trailed off, breathy with dreamy disbelief. She stood straighter suddenly, as if remembering something else that was just as important. "-And my core: it's fixed!"

He had a million questions to ask, but the poor ghoul looked like she was about to collapse. Carefully, he put an arm behind her back to guide her toward the undead dorms, his brain buzzing frantically.
The tag was gone. The hunters could no longer track her- it was surreal. A worry that had been constantly gnawing at the back of his mind suddenly lifted- he couldn't imagine what she was feeling. How they had managed to do it when he and Malodore had both been baffled?

Amrita continued to grin, the exhaustion not entirely hindering just how happy she was. She felt his arm go around her and she didn't hesitate to accept his help, settling in to lean rather heavily against him as he guided them back to their dorms.
She said nothing on the way back, silent because she wanted to focus her energy on walking, and also because her mind was still wheeling. It wasn't until they were at her room that she even stirred, and it was to try and unlock her door - it took several tries, but she managed. Her first stop was to her desk, slipping a stack of papers into one of the drawers and sliding the vase of her favourite flowers to the side, back in it's usual place.
Then she sat down heavily on her bed, not even trying to be graceful about it.
"I still can't believe it." Amrita glanced up at him with a sleepy smile, then down at the cannister she had forgotten to put on her desk. "It's totally worth the side effects."

He pulled her desk chair up beside the bed, sitting heavily as he watched her intently. The look of worry failed to vanish. "Side-effects?" He grunted as he signed, making sure she caught to gestured words, "Explain."

It took her a moment to realize that he was signing, and when she did she started at his hands, making sure she understood what she was being asked.
"Headaches. He said they'd be...probably every week?" She scratched her cheek, recalling the information well enough to present it verbally. "Really, really bad ones. ...I think he used 'Crippling'? But this'll help those." Now she showed him the canister of dried herbs she was still holding.

His brows crinkled as he took this in. He wanted to know more. There was a scientific side that wished he had been there- not to support her, although of course he would have wanted that, but just to see. How the Hunter made thing had been connected, how it had been taken off, how her core could have been altered to remove it...
His hand shifted to take her's, brain spinning. Crippling? His hands spun. Was it worth it?

Her gaze fell to her hands as he took them, and focused on them for a little longer than necessary: she was trying to figure out why.
"Yes. I'm sure it'll be worth every moment. I'm free." The conviction in her voice was clear, even through everything else.

His breathing quickened in sharp rasps through his nose, his chair noisy as he scooted closer to wrap both hands around her's. There was no way to describe how he was feeling in words he could share with her. He understood Freedom, it's value, and in many cases, it's cost. He let go with one hand to run a claw gently through her hair, eyes searching her face. Maybe it would heal. Maybe the pain would fade over time. Maybe it would be worth the risk...

"Don't worry. I got medicine for it. When it gets bad I'll just take that, and everything'll be okay." Amrita nodded, freeing one of her hands to cover up a yawn; not that she honestly needed to, it was simply an instinctual response.
"I need to lay down...gonna pass out." As if that weren't obvious already. "Stayin or goin?"
