Galena was buzzing with excitement as she followed behind the older lieutenant on the beginnings of what she was sure would be a very successful patrol, and this showed on her face by a very slight upturn of the corners of her mouth.

In Galena-town where a full on smile was rarer than unicorns, this small twinge of facial muscles was practically a stupid faced grin.

Galena was deceptively quiet and polite and soft mannered, but she wasn't necessarily shiy, so when she had spotted the much more brash and bold woman she hadn't had any qualms about simply approaching her directly and asking if she wouldn't mind teaming up, at least for one outing. Even if this approach was tempered with many pleases and apologies for being so bold.

Galena was incredibly new to the game, and simply wasn't comfortable being alone, though.

"How do you usually acquire people to extract energy from?" She asked as she followed along, her excitement at least showing in the bounce to her step even if her expression was somewhat lacking. and her fingers were, of course, anxiously twisting away in front of her as she walked.

The tall, dark haired woman who walked in front was not unhappy with the current situation. Sure, she had been surprised to be asked to team up when the other woman had approached her. Most of the officers she had met thus far seemed put out by her... passionate nature and she'd been more or less on her own since her recruitment. It was heartening to think that maybe there were a few people out there who weren't scared off by their first impression of Cinnabar. Of course, it could be that this woman just hadn't gotten to know her very well and that further contact really would scare her off... but Cinn was happy for the moment to have a lovely companion for her normally lonely patrol.

"Uh... well, usually I go to the seedy part of town, find a bar full of a lot of drunk people, and just start stealing snatches of energy as I work my way through the crowd. Half of them are ready to pass out anyway, so no one normally notices the draining. Sometimes, I can convince one to come out back with me and then I drain a bigger chunk of energy from them. In the places I tend to roam, seeing someone passed out by the dumpster is really not an unusual occurrence." The question was not really that out of place, but as the lieutenant answered it, she wondered what her new companion would make of her 'style'.

Honestly, despite how she'd been brought up, Cinnabar tended to leave behind manners in favor of a direct, no s**t taken, approach. She was who she was, and if someone didn't like it, they could take their high and mighty attitude and shove it up their a**...

"I suppose you could hunt around, hide behind things, and take down people you find alone, but... my way seems to give me a wider pool of people to draw from and is less likely to get me caught, I think. I'm not sure what other officers do, but that seems to be a common way. I'm surprised anyone goes to clubs any more... or if they really just don't notice."

"Oh..." Galena listened, and the uncertainty was evident in the way she fiddled even if her facial expression didn't seem to change other than slightly wider eyes.

"I'm not so... I haven't quite figured out my own way," She admitted, trying not to sound sheepish. IT was really more of a counter to avoid saying something that would imply she found fault with Cinnabar's way. It wasn't that she had, but if the lacy get up and demure way she followed along didn't make it evident enough, a wild party scene was not exactly an environment where Gal felt most comfortable or at home.

"There is quite a bit of logic behind that, though!" She complimented, although she was at a loss as to how to make it work for her.

"I am just... not certain I could make it work for me. I am not good at that sort of thing," Hanging out in clubs and flirting and whatnot, the entire thing made her nearly pull her glove off as she sent that compulsive twisted motion into overload.

She was nervous.

"Can we try it?"

Cinnabar laughed when Galena admitted her failing at the seedy bar scene.

"I'm honestly not surprised. You don't seem like the type of girl who hangs out in places like that. I'm sure there are plenty of us who are like you and do their hunting somewhere else. Just a few weeks ago, the sent a group of us out into an outdoor craft fair and we pulled energy from passerby." Shrugging Cinnabar turned to give her companion a grin. "I'm comfortable with my way because I'm just as seedy and uncouth as all the other low-lifes there. I like drinking and getting rowdy and flirting, so it works."

At the question though, the tall woman's eyebrows lifted and she stopped for a moment to put her hands on her hips. "Are you sure you want to try my way? You're not really... dressed for the kinds of places I go to. That, and there is nothing wrong with doing your hunting your own way, so I don't really mind trying something else."

It was a little bit entertaining to think of this prim, lovely lady in a biker bar... poor thing would get lots of attention with how much she'd stand out, and probably not the kind she'd prefer. If just talking about it was working her into a tizzy, Cin wasn't sure how actually doing it would work.

Poor Galena's eyes didn't seem to have much of a middle ground or alternative expression besides looking tired or disinterested and being wide with confusion or anxiousness. Right now, for this conversation, she seemed to mostly be sticking to the latter.

She looked Cinnabar up and down, and then down at her own lacy ensemble. While anyone with half a brain could see the difference between the two outfits, she still seemed to be genuinely confused about something.

"Dressed for...? I am in my uniform. Same as you," She said softly as if she was posing a question and not making a statement.

The uniforms were admittedly not quite... uniform, but she wasn't sure how she could help the fact that Chaos decided she belonged in lace and Cinnabar belonged in leather.

"I am not fragile," She countered, although her inability to speak with volume or strength didn't seem to convey those words with any justice. "I can learn."

A gusty sigh blew through Cinnabar's lips before she shrugged and waved a hand dismissively.

"Alright, fine, have it your way. We'll go energy gathering my way, but you need to lose the gloves and the jacket for now." She said as she straightened up and shrugged out of her own coat, leaving her muscled arms bare and exposing the impressive cleavage her corset afforded her. One thing her mother gave her for free that she was thankful for... Nice T & A made a lot of things easier. So did a magical uniform that lifts and separates.

"If I could shorten your skirt, I would, but it'll have to do. Where we're going, people have no manners. They're rude, they're rough, and the guys are going to get feelsy. Either ignore the hands on your a**, or use the contact to pull some energy from them. If it gets to be too much, let me know and we'll take a break, or I can start slapping some bitches up. Ya know... whatever works."

It would have been a lot easier if they could have powered down and dressed properly for the bar, but neither of them could pull energy out of uniform... so mussing up her perfect outfit was probably the only way to get Galena through this. Even if she still looked too classy for the seedy, don't-ask-why-the-floor-is-sticky, if-you-have-to-go-hold-it places Ariel went. Worst came to worst, she'd claim they were lesbians and punch a few guys out, then go somewhere more suited to the demure lieutenant. Whatever worked.

"So we're trying to attract attention, not avoid it? Or are we trying to fit in?" Galena asked as she shrugged off the small jacket, leaving the strapless, lacy top beneath it exposed. Basic instinct, the assumption there could possibly be fighting, and the fact she was bare shouldered in a flimsy top gave her the urge to instantly put the thing back on and button up.

She settled for clutching it in front of her in an uncomfortable stance that showed off more dismay than she liked, when she realized the simple loss of the jacket suddenly made the lacy attire and high slitted skirt feel much more provocative than they had been before.

And then the stress and awkwardness was tempered with a moment of clarity as she watched Cinnabar work. The confident way the older lieutenant moved, the fit tone of her arms, and the absolute flair in the way she prepared had Galena's attention more than the words of warning. Her eyes were staring with very intent attention as her nails dug into the jacket in her hands, but when she nodded and said, "Yes, whatever works," Those had really been the first words she heard well enough to parrot back.

She looked down to pull her gloves off finger by finger, which was an excellent reason to carry on and pretend that her admiration for Cinnabar's confidence and style hadn't slipped into very carefully inspecting the curves and cleavage displayed and exaggerated by her uniform.

"I'm sure it will be fine," She stated blandly as she banished her hair sticks to subspace to let her hair fall loose around her shoulders before holding out the shed pieces of uniform in her arms. "Where do I put this?"

Magical regenerating uniforms were still painfully new to her.

Cin was far less shy about giving her companion a look over once the jacket was off, the smile that crossed her face slow and sexy. It would be stupid to deny the fact that the lieutenant liked a good looking woman by hiding her reactions... She saved that sort of dissembling for when there was no other choice, like when she was hunting energy.

"That is much better." Cinnabar said as she swung her coat over a shoulder, letting it hang down her back. "We are trying to fit in so that people are less likely to take notice of what we're doing, BUT we are also trying to draw attention... Just a certain kind of attention. A drunk who wants to get into your pants will ignore a lot of what you're doing as long as you aren't trying to get away from him, and most will write off the energy drain was the affects of the alcohol. You should hold onto your coat too... Pulling energy will give you an energy orb in hand and the coat will give you something to hide it under."

Sliding over, the tall woman took Galena's arm and tucked it into the elbow of her own. "Shall we? Might as well get started. Remember, if you need a break, just let me know. I'll take care of you."

---

The trip to the bar was easy, as was getting in. Two hot women? No bouncer alive would turn them away and the loud music enveloped them as the pair walked in. Entering the bar was almost like passing through a wall... Outside was chill and relatively quiet. Inside was a wave of heat, sound, and unfortunately, smell. It wasn't terribly bad, but the odor of alcohol was strong.

The crowd tonight was a mixed bag... Those by the bar were the hardcore drunks, while those towards the center of the open floor were younger and far more interested in grinding on each other than the drinks in their hand. Cinnabar's elbows cleared them a space by the bar, which is where she parked her partner, ordering them both something strong to start with. No sense why they couldn't enjoy the process a little, right? Downing her shot, the dark haired woman left Galena with a more fruity mixed drink to sip and slid herself into the mass on the floor, staying just in sight as she began to dance. Contact with those around her produced tiny sparks of energy which she tucked into the hand her coat was draped over, but no one seemed to notice the tiny draw and the motions simply looked like part of her dancing. It wasn't long until a tall blonde guy with tattoos down his arms was behind her and they were moving together, the cruel smile curling Cin's lips invisible to her new target.

Gal did her best to tone down the blatant, wide-eyed ice queen demeanor for the sake of playing the part, but she only seemed to switch to dull ice-queen instead.

At least the wide eyes gave some distinction.

Her lips seemed to stay permanently closed as she acted a silent bystander while Cinnabar got them into the club and ordered a drink for her. Galena gave no opinion and made no comment, although her internal monologue was scolding her for being so boring and uninteresting.

Her outward restraint was a problem she was aware of and was constantly at war with her insecurities to repair.

She sat obediently at the stool where Cinnabar had cleared the way and hunched over her drink, occasionally sparing a casual glance over at what the other lieutenant was doing, who she was dancing with, and the subtle little movements of her hands and fingertips.

Very much the observer, she sat there, daintily keeping her ankles together as she anxiously tapped on finger on the bar, keeping up an icy demeanor that was keeping most casual flirtations at bay. She wasn't sure if she wished she could turn it off or was deliberately keeping the walls up at full force out of fear. At least until someone who was drunk enough not to care half leaned and half slumped on the bar beside her.

Gal didn't jump, and just kept her worried gaze intently on the drink in front of her.

At least not until he made a crass suggestion on how to fix her chronic b***h face that made her tense all the way to the back of her shoulders. Before she realized it, his hand was on her arm, and her grabbed it in retaliation. When his slump turned into being passed out on the bar and she was hiding a much too large sphere of energy under her coat in her lap, she defaulted to frantically looking around for Cin, wide eyed and guilty she had just horridly messed up. The entire series of events had taken less than a second, but it still generated a very unconscious drunk and all the reactions that came with it.

The blonde didn't last long. Cinnabar had discovered quite early an aptitude for energy gathering and draining him was fast and efficient. Soon he was laughing off his tiredness and asking if she wanted a drink, but the black haired woman just shook her head and waved him off. His usefulness was done. Any more energy and she'd have a bigger problem to deal with. At least the drink idea was a good one...

Red eyes widened a hair when they found her partner at the bar next to what appeared to be a very passed out drunk and Cin muscled her way through the dancers with little care for the protests she got for her use of sharp, pointy elbow. The worried and guilty look on Galena's face said volumes about what had happened and the taller woman went into clean up mode, shielding the other with a bare arm as she barked at the bartender.

"HEY! You in the habit of letting people get so drunk they ******** pass out?" She railed at him, doing her best bitchy butch impression as she guided Galena out of her seat and shielded the huge orb of energy with her body. The poor man looked more than taken aback and he rushed off to find a bouncer to clear the drunk, which gave them enough time to make a hasty retreat. Not too hasty... they were angry patrons, not guilty theives, after all.

It was something of a test of agility to make it through the crowd without bumping into someone and damaging the orbs they held, but they made it, barely. Cinnabar laughed as they broke out into the cold air of the night and she turned to lead the way down the street, away from the prying eyes at the door.

"Oh man!" She chuckled as she swept her coat off her arm and shrugged it on, juggling her much smaller energy orb from hand to hand. "You sure know how to end the night, don't you? At least you got a nice sized bit of energy for your trouble."

Galena's mouth stayed in a straight line as Cinnabar chewed out the bartender, and combined with her wide eyes looked a little more like a derpy frog than she would've preferred.

She clung to the energy orb with both hands under her jacket and scuttled out with Cinnabar's much more commanding wake and by the time they were outside, she was staring down at it and then all around them like a scared rabbit, panting and buzzed from adrenaline.

"That-- I... I didn't mean to," She stumbled. "I'm sorry. Did I ruin your dance?"

She was all wound up and unsure of what to do. The energy orb was cumbersome and hard to hide without breaking and the fact her hands were shaking was making it worse.

"I'm so sorry."

Bluefire Dragonz
PostPosted: Thu Mar 27, 2014 7:27 pm

The stumbling apology pulled Cin around and she marched back to grab up Galena's jacket and wrap it around her bare shoulders. That task done, she drapped an arm around the woman's shoulder and walked companionably with her.

"That's alright, I was done anyway. That idiot was only good for this much." She said as she displayed the smaller orb she held loosely in her palm. "Rather unsatisfying, but what man isn't? There's nothing to apologize for. You're new to this, you tried... no one expects you to get it right off the bat, or at least I don't."

Cinnabar felt the adrenaline as well as Galena did and after a moment she released the other woman to walk on her own. Having that sweet body under her arm was hellishly distracting and with how worked up she already was, it was just a bit too much. Maybe if her companion had shown interest in more than just a comrade kind of relationship... but no. No reason to let thoughts like that get in the way right now.

"Well! What should we do now? Night's still young, so are we. Full of energy and kick-a**! We could move on to another bar, try something else..." The dark-haired woman laughed as she kicked a stone across the pavement, trying not to bounce too much. Bouncing was childish, even if she felt like it. Sure, they'd had to leave, but she was rather having fun, something she didn't get to do all that often while energy gathering.

"You don't find men satisfying?" It was increasingly clear Galena did not have very many tones of voice as such a blunt question could've easily been a joke or a quip but was executed in the exact same manner as everything she'd said to Cinnabar tonight that hadn't been flustered stumbling.

She glanced down at the orb. "It feels like it's about to--" She stopped, and cast that monotone glance over her companion now that she'd removed her arm, realizing only now how she had sunk into the jacket draped over her shoulders and how the separation felt deliberate.

There was a bit of an inspecting glance thrown at the other lieutenant but she just tugged on the jacket on her shoulders and looked back down to the energy orb. Showing anything was not Galena's wheelhouse.

"It feels fragile. Like it's about to break. I don't think I can conceal it for another bar run."

She still felt like she was buzzing, though, and the corners of her mouth twitched into what the optimistic and observant might call a smile.

"This was exciting."

Bluefire Dragonz

It wasn't the question so much as the thoughts it called up that pinched Cinnabar's lips like she'd eaten something sour. Red eyes flashing, tension stretching her body taut, the tall woman glared at the orb in her hand and was tempted to crush it out of spite. Still, Galena had asked a question, she deserved an answer.

"I don't like men." She said, her voice tight. "They are untrustworthy, stupid... All they care about is their dicks and where the next fix is coming from. You can't count on any of them for anything but maybe a good ********. MAYBE."

Reaching, Cinnabar tossed her hair back over her shoulder with a contemptuous flick. She didn't like thinking about... him. It did nothing but got her worked up. If she ever saw him again, it would be his starseed in her hand, and happily so. Glancing back at Galena helped ease the anger a bit and Cin actually managed a bit of a smile.

"Don't worry about it, we don't need to try again. What you've got there should be enough for tonight." Her grin widened as she tossed her ball again, something of her good mood coming back. "It was exciting... that's part of why I like doing it, why I like being an officer. Really gets the blood and adrenaline pumping... I'll probably end up running around until I use up the extra energy once we turn in these orbs, or I'll never be able to sleep."

"I see," Gal said blandly, giving Cinnabar another once over while she silently speculated on what experiences had made this woman the way she was. While Galena had her own issues with gender and men in particular, she didn't muster the hatred Cinnabar seemed to have and while she was burning with curiosity over the whos and the whys, this was their first patrol and it was likely not an appropriate question.

In fact, the more she thought about the next logical step in conversation, the more she became consciously concerned about ruining the night or overstepping her bounds. She could find Cinnabar again. There would be other nights.

The logical conclusion was the quit while she was ahead right now.

"Thank you for your time tonight," She said, making more of an effort to flash her still incredibly restrained smile and bow her head slightly.

"I hope we have the opportunity to patrol again?"
