This is a private rp between my Ausdauer and ~Kiana_Nala~'s Charisma. I give Kiana permission to use Charisma's Third Eye power with regard to Ausdauer in this rp.

"Bored...bored...bored...bored."

In case it wasn't immediately obvious, Ausdauer was bored. The words, repeated in a lyrical, rhythmic chant, kept time with the feather which he was currently 'playing catch' with. It was a somewhat incongruous picture: a large Angeni stallion, lying on his back with his legs up in the air, headwings and his larger back wings flopped open flat on the ground. With his small ankle wings, he was propelling a feather upwards, then letting it float down before fluttering it back upwards again. Altogether, it was not a good case-study on the dignity of Angenis.

Then again, Ausdauer had always been a good for for bucking that sort of convention. Hadn't he been sent to the Kawani lands to begin with as punishment for overstepping the bounds with his own guiding spirit? Not exactly a bright move, that. And to make matters worse, he had managed to quarrel with his mentor in the Kawani lands, no less a personage than the Angeni of Fate himself. It wasn't Regelus' fault that he'd been saddled with a Soquili of such dramatically different opinions and behaviors, but it hadn't made things easy for either of them. It hadn't helped that Ausdauer had taken every opportunity to try and crack Reg's legendary air of placidity. He'd ultimately failed in that attempt, but it hadn't been for lack of trying! In the end, it had been decided that he had had enough 'punishment' and might as well make a go of things on his own.

Naturally, Ausdauer approved of this arrangement. He was a grown Angeni stallion, for pete's sake, and he did not need a mentor (in his mind, basically a baby-sitter). He knew he own business and could take care of himself, thanks very much. But there was one minor flaw with going solo; there was nothing to do!

There were certainly Soquili who would take umbrage with that assessment, but for Ausdauer, solitude was ultimately one and the same with mind-numbing boredom. A social creature by nature, he loved to be active and doing things. When he was doing things, meeting people, or otherwise keeping busy, he was in his element. Give him a task to do, then come hell or high water, he would see that it was done. But just turning him loose in an empty field and saying 'go play' was a surefire way to end up with a stir-crazy stallion. After all, just because he was good doing things didn't mean he was good at coming up with things to do!

Thus, the feather.

He didn't know how long he'd been lying there. Long enough to waft the feather in the air 173 times (and counting), but beyond that, he had no idea. He was so bored, surely there was something more interesting he could be doing! But where to start looking?

It had been a long time since Charisma had been to the Kawani lands and since her return she had found that the land had changed, quite drastically. Mostly in regard to the people and soquili who populated it. Charisma had always known there were darker creatures that lurked in the dark, however, that' where they had stayed. On the winds she had heard that some weren't so happy in the hidden, secretive lifestyles of their predecessors. Since her purpose had been to seek out the family of her old friend to begin with it seemed even more prudent to find them and quickly. Then again, she didn't know much about the current state of the family. Or where they were. For now she was left to wander and seek them out slowly. Thus far she had heard nothing of them but she was hopeful. The mare was a lot of things and one of them was having hope even when all hope seemed lost. Maybe it was because she was an angeni, of the Third Eye no less, or maybe it was just who she was as an individual. She couldn't say for sure. There was little that bothered the mare and to get on her bad side it would take a great amount of strength and endurance on the others part.

The white mare walked slowly through the open field, looking like that of a dazed damsel. Her mind wandered off to her friend who had started the ghost family. It had been a creative name that they had gotten for themselves, then again, they did have a deep rooted belief in ghosts and some even claimed to see them. Needless to say the mare was quite fond of them. There was a small pang of loneliness that blossomed in her chest at remembering what life had been like before. "Nothing to fret over." She told herself softly. Within minutes of saying that she was pulled from her thoughts when she noticed a winged soquili only a few feet away. Were they playing with a feather? It was a bit of a relief to be distracted from her inner thoughts, if only for a while.

Charisma smiled softly as she approached the black-winged figure. When she came closer she could tell that it was a stallion. An angeni no less. There was a temptation there to see what his mood was and she felt compelled to find out more about this angeni. He had been the first she had ever met in these lands. Her light green eyes scanned him for a moment as she allowed herself to see the lights dancing around him. They were bright colors, but maybe a bit muddy. There were many reasons for that but they weren't always clear at first. Charisma would get more details if she pressed harder but the mare decided that she would allow him that privacy. He seemed to be a good stallion though. Maybe a bit confused? Again, it was like only seeing a small part of the bigger picture. If she pressed harder she could see more of who he was but once more she decided against it. "Hello there. That's a lovely feather you have." Charisma greeted him kindly.

There was something to be said for dignity in a first meeting. Unfortunately, it was hard to be dignified while laying upside down on the ground. But Ausdauer would be the first to admit it was his own fault; considering how bored he was, you'd have thought he would have been paying attention for the possibility of change. Maybe he was just turning into a cynic, he thought with good humor. Either that, or the feather was proving to be of much greater interest than he originally anticipated!

"Isn't it? It's one of my own feathers, which really wasn't doing much good where it was. Apparently it does a good job as a distraction, because I didn't even notice you approaching." With one last flip of his ankle wings, he drove the feather back up into the air, then with great agility flipped up and onto his feet, catching the feather with one of his wings and offering it to the mare. "Keep it, as a token of my gratitude," he said with a big grin. "I was dangerously close to dying of boredom, and that would have been a dull and uninspired way to go out."

At last, something interesting! There were so many possibilities for interesting happenstances when there was something else around, especially a female someone.

Despite how the stallion might have been feeling, Charisma had no paid no mind to the fact he was laying on his back. Or at least she hadn't thought it odd for him to be doing so. However, the mare hadn't notice that the feather he had been playing with had been one of his own. She couldn't imagine plucking one of her own feathers but she didn't hold that against him. She just wouldn't do it herself. The mare smiled once more. "Your feather has a wonderful mix of colors, so it is not hard to believe that you would be captivated." It was true. He did have a wonderful blend of colors on his coat. The dark, contrasting with the white and red hues. It reminded her of sunset.

When the stallion quickly rose to his feet and did the trick with his feather she bowed her head to him. "Oh? Thank you. I will make sure to take great care of it." She said, reaching out to grab it with one of her wings and attached it to her necklace. "It should be safe there." She said, inspecting it for a moment. Her head raised after a moment and her eyes rested on his red colored eyes. "Dying?" The mare had a look akin to confusion displayed on her features for a moment. "You must have been quite bored indeed." A soft giggle escaped her. It was interesting to think of the possibility of dying of boredom. Was that even possible? She figured it wasn't but it was amusing to think of. "I'm glad I came when I did then!" She added.

Now Charisma wondered what it was she was supposed to do to entertain this stallion. The mare assumed it was best to start out at the beginning. "I'm Charisma. May I ask for your name in return?" She asked, not wanting to assume that he would tell her just because she had given him hers. "Were you waiting for anyone?"

Well, one things had to be said about the mare; she was very polite. Had it been Ausdauer himself coming upon a Soquili playing with a feather, he probably would have had some sort of remark to make about diminished mental faculities, or perhaps about the simplification in interets in anyone who could possibly be entertained by what amounted to a 'shiny object.' It was nice to not be on the receiving end of such commentary, totally justified as it might have been.

Grinning, Ausdauer settled his wings down against his back. "You give me a lot of credit, which I'd have to be an a** to deny. Since I pride myself on NOT being an a**, I guess I'll just have to accept the credit. So, thank you, Charisma, and wear it in good health. It's not quite as pristine as you, but at least it's in the right color familiy to go with your necklace," He commented with an approving look at the mare's ornate decoration. Not that he could talk on the subject, given the etched golden cuff he himself wore in his mane!

"And yes, dying. It's a pain to be burdened with the need to be active and yet singularly lacking in imagination. Leads to a great deal of personal frustration, as I'm sure you might understand. And to answer your question, I wasn't waiting for anyone in particular, but I was hoping for someone in general, if that helps? So thank you for being someone. And I'm Ausdauer, but you can call me Aus (sounds like 'Oz'), it's less of a mouthful."

Cocking his head to one side, he gave her a curious look. "If I wasn't waiting for anyone, were you looking for anyone?"
