It was mid-morning in Yera and everyone was out doing their usual hustle and bustle. Tradesmen were wheeling and dealing, children were running and playing, and Prentices were gathering in clumps to practice with their weapon of choice while their elders instructed. Among the people rushing about was Yaholo, who had stopped to inspect an old tree, before continuing forward, clutching his boys close to his side.
"Come on you two, auntie Paha won't be waiting around much longer." He said. Yera hadn't changed very much since he left, it seemed to have gone on without him...

Samoset curled his fingers around his daddy's hand rather tightly as they went through the village square, his eyes darting from place to place. Was this what Tale was like? Sandy, weird trees, funny people... It was so... Interesting!
"Ooo! Drinks! Let's get some juice!" He exclaimed, pointing to a vendor in the corner of the market. He tugged his father and brother over and smiled as his father offered a few coins in exchange for three bottles of juice. The vendor seemed very excited to see Yaholo, and even gave him a bundle of fruit as well! People were very kind in Yera, it seemed!
"This juice is so sweet and yummy, it's not like Andile's!" He chirped, practically skipping along after taking a few sips. "What do you think, Kennet?"

Kennet drank the juice ravenously, a very pleased smile curling around his features. Oh, yes, this juice was just what he needed! This place was getting to hot and itchy for him, plus, it was too bright in some spots, but at least the juice was nice! He nodded towards his brother and clinked his glass against his hand.
"We should go there every day for more, I like it!" He replied, smiling up at Yaholo. "Will you tell auntie Paha that she has to take us there every day? I don't want to skip a single day! Okay?"

(ahh I feel like I don't know anything about how they live or operate. e_e Please correct me if there are glaring continuity issues?? biggrin And I also apologize for his racism and lack of -- err doing anything.))
Even after living in Yera for a few weeks, Uquin still felt a sense of childlike giddiness when he left his small home and saw the near chaos of a busy tribe, the noises of life loud but pleasant in his ear. He was still a new addition to the tribe - and had not yet settled in enough to join the other prentices in their learning.
Rather than be upset about this turn of events, the young earthling had put himself to work in taking home torn clothes and bags and nets, and returning in the morning with them mended together once more. A simple enough task, but one that saved more skilled hands for harder enterprise, and at least relieved the feeling of uselessness that came with his move.
Carrying the repaired straps and apparel in a swollen satchel at his back, Uquin joined the rest of the bustle in the town square, pausing to blink, bleary eyed and briefly overwhelmed, at the amount of people. In this chaos, after opening his bag and quietly returning a once-ruined cape for tonight's dinner, Uquin turned back to the crowd of the square, only to come to a stop when the sight of a... very clearly non-earthling family (at least not fully earthling) caught his eye.
It wasn't really a bad sight, but Uquin had never actually seen another species before. Common sense made him force his eyes away and suppress the curiosity, instead watching subtly out of the corner of his eye as the family continued on their merry way.
Inexplicably, the way his new tribesmembers seemed to fondly welcome the family made Uquin even more curious - his old tribe, back in Isd, had been small and close-knit, so the presence of someone of another race would have been taken with alarm and defensiveness.

Yaholo had paused again to converse with an old friend, Minal, as well as offer him the bag of fruit he had been given. However, instead of having his things taken, he was given more items to take along with him! He laughed as a uniquely colored satchel was tied around his waist while his boys were each given a welcoming present of sweets.
"Oh, Minal, you didn't have to go to all this trouble!" He said, shaking his head. "I'm not going to be here too long, anyway, I've got to get back to Andile to start training for the war and..." He paused, gazing over towards Uquin. A new face in Yera? He smiled, probably a tradesman. "I can't carry all this home, you know..."

Samoset marveled at the weird crystal thing he had been given by the man his father was conversing with. He held it to his nose for a brief moment and gasped, it smelled like sugar! Could it be...? He licked it, before taking a decent chomp out of it. It was candy! He loved candy! So sweet and yummy and good!
Then, something else caught his attention, a man with a very large satchel upon his back. He tilted his head to the side and ran forward, leaving his father and brother behind in the crowd.
"Hey! Mister!" He chirped, waving up to Uquin. "I'm Samoset, why are you carrying that big bag? Are you on an adventure?"

Kennet wasn't too thrilled with the rock candy he had been given, but decided that it was best to chew on it anyway so the man who had given it to him wouldn't hate him. But, just as he grew comfortable enough with the sweet and the rhythm of the conversation his father was having, he realized that his brother had run off without him. Immediately, he raced after him.
"Samoset! NO!" He cried, pulling his brother away from Uquin. "You don't know where he's been! He could be MENZURI!"

(good god almighty they're adorable))
Uquin had been so centered on watching the adult of the three that he didn't notice one of the children pattering up to him - at least, not until a little voice somehow broke through the clatter of the crowd, a small hand helping to catch the man's attention. Uquin looked down quickly, somewhat startled, but he quickly returned his expression to one of neutrality.
He didn't have too much experience with children, but he didn't dislike them - so Uquin carefully squatted, to be more at this child - Samoset's - level, tilting his head at him.
The little one still had candy crumbles and dust on his chubby cheeks and fingers, and it was so endearing that Uquin found his eyes softening from the assessing stare of before. "You could say that." he responded, uncertaintly, but then blinked and leaned back a bit when the second child appeared.
The words though made a smirk crack on his lips, and Uquin raised his eyebrows, looking at the child with a cocky expression. "Are you calling me an insect, little one?" He asked, his tone almost daring the boy. Not in any real threat, of course.

(Thank you! |3 They're appeased by the compliment because both of them are involved. XD)
Yaholo finished saying goodbye to Minal and went to ruffle his boys' hair, only to find that they had run off somewhere. He heaved a sigh, and quickly began scanning the crowd, hoping that they hadn't gone too far. Luckily, four small antennas stuck out like sore thumbs, and he was able to skirt towards them without much fuss.
"Ah, you two!" He said, shaking his head. "You shouldn't run off like that! You're new here, remember?"
He sighed and smiled towards Uquin, before laughing at his expression. "Oh, did Kennet say something rude?" He asked, ruffling the boy's hair. "I apologize. They've never seen a full-blooded Leaf tribesman before, so they're naturally inquisitive. They're actually here to meet their aunt today..." He chuckled, rubbing the back of his head. "Ah, anyway, I'm Yaholo. What's your name?"

Samoset beamed towards Uquin and reached out to gently touch his pack. He didn't pay much attention to his brother, even when he was pulled backwards, and allowed him to be as grumpy as usual. He was just afraid of strangers! Kennet was so silly!
"Daddy! This man's an adventurer, just like you!" He exclaimed, bouncing up and down in place. "He said so! Can he come over for dinner?"

Kennet cringed as his hair was ruffled and peered up at his father with a displeased expression. He loved his daddy dearly, but he couldn't stand it when his hair was roughed up like that! He stuck his tongue out and frowned, before turning his attention back to Uquin.
"Well, I ain't call'in you a Radaku, mister." He retorted, pouting. "Why are you adventuring here, anyway? There's war coming, no time for adventure."

Uquin quickly stood up when their father approached, feeling like he might be scolded for talking to the children. Instead, the man seemed - agreeable, friendly. It didn't calm Uquin much because the man was so tall compared to him, and muscular besides - and someone who was obviously stronger than him gave him some pause. "Rude? No, just careful." He said slowly, as if still worried Yaholo would turn around and become angry with him. This moment of silent speculation ended when Samoset spoke, causing Uquin to cringe just a bit.
"I may have... exaggerated in that somewhat, child." He said in quiet apology to the boy, as well as their father - who looked to be the epitome of adventurer, or at least someone who looked capable. Whereas to the children Uquin seemed an adult, to Yaholo it was clear he was still just a child himself.
He didn't offer much more in explanation - but how would this adventurer understand that to Uquin, traveling in a protected caravan in his move to Yera had been the closest to adventure that the prentice had ever come? Collecting bulbs or what he could from the treeline outside of town didn't really count to him as properly exploring, or being on his own.
If anything, the mention of war sobered him somewhat from his pensiveness. At least, in that respect, he could be helpful. Suddenly this man bringing the children out here to stay made more sense - away from the war, and safe - or at least as safe as one could get. "Uquin - that's my name - are you going to the war, Yaholo?" He asked, at length, shifting his eyes with a somewhat fond expression at Samoset's curious poke to his bag. But how embarassing, that he was a laundry boy in comparison to this man - Yaholo, his mind substituted. Somehow he found himself worrying the two children would laugh at his stretch of the truth and think him a liar.

Yaholo wasn't quite sure if there was something wrong with his hair or if it happened to be to hot out, because Uquin looked just a little bit uncomfortable to him. He blinked and shrugged it off, he was carrying a rather large pack, it was probably making him tired. He extended his hand out to the other man.
"It's always a pleasure to meet a new face around here!" He cheered, referencing to the village. "I grew up in a tree just around the bend from the market with my father, younger sister, and, well, ex-step-mother, I suppose that's what you'd call her now." He paused, pondering a moment, before returning to the conversation. "Exaggerated? Nonsense! If this isn't your home town, you've gone on an adventure to get here. I remember when I first went to Jauhar... That was quite a culture shock!"
His eyes turned to his boys at the mentioning of war and seemed to linger upon them, before gazing back towards Uquin. "Yes, I have to leave very soon." He said, sighing. "My sister has agreed to watch them for me while my other sister and I go out to war with our tribe. My father is bent on joining the forces, but I want to keep him here with my mother, who can't participate due to her disability. However, he's about as stubborn as an Aldabuck, so, I'm not sure if I'll win that battle."

Samoset tilted his head to the side as Uquin spoke. Exaggerated a little bit? He pursed his lips, puckered them, and furrowed his eyebrows. What did that mean? It was a word he hadn't heard before! He folded his arms across his chest, before placing a hand under his chin, all while keeping his head tilted.
"What's ex-ahg-er-ay-tid?" He asked, keeping the same posture. "I don't understaaaand..."

Kennet had long since fallen into the lull of the conversation and watched as his brother's posture curiously. Why was he acting so silly? Was this a new game? He tilted his head to the opposite side that Samoset had his head and emulated every single feature and position, all while keeping it to the mirror opposite of how his brother was standing.
"What are we doing?" He asked, blinking twice. This hurt, when could he stop?
