Layton had really tried. She had really, really tried.
Today was the day, she'd told herself. Today was the day she'd transform into Peklo and go fight some bad guys. She'd defend Chronos and the Surrounding and all that was goodness!!
---
And thirty minutes later she had transported herself to her wonder in the surrounding, terrified for her life. She only encountered a very tiny youma (it couldn't have been any bigger than a chicken) and shocked herself into transporting away. It was just too scary. That, and she didn't want to hurt the poor thing.
Maybe she should actually get some training on all this? She was shy and meek, but in the back of her mind Peklo was logical enough to recognize that eventually she was going to need to metaphorically "man up."
She pulled out her communication device and sent a good friend a short note that essentially said, "Could you come to my wonder? It's near the Virgo Outpost. I need help."

It had been a long time.
He'd been lying on his couch when he'd gotten the message, Fritz in the midst of a heated debate with himself about whether he should have tacos or leftover Chinese food for lunch. A consensus had yet to be reached, but the message from one long-lost friend was a good enough distraction, at the very least, and a welcome interruption.
Hoping not to disturb Tolliver napping in the other room, Fritz slipped out of the loft and made his way to a lesser occupied location - namely the Surrounding, which was where everything had started, really.
He hadn't been Celsus for a very long time, too long. It felt strange, the noise of the bells clinking against his ankles almost unfamiliar. His break had been, for the most part, unintentional, but at the same time, he had missed this, missed being that side of him.
A simultaneous clash of wariness and excitement thrummed through him as he made his way towards the outpost, Celsus idly tugging at one of the dangling straps tied around his waist. He peered curiously for the Wonder in question, eyes curious, and called out softly, "Where are you, lost bird?"

Peklo had receded into the very back corner of her room, hidden somewhere among a pile of pillows and crunched between a few bowls of candy. It was a vice, but lately Peklo had been filling her wonder with candy, because it was something that comforted her. The room was so empty that it really needed personal touches, and candy was a good place to start.
When she heard Fritz come in, she sort of sadly called out, "Here, Mr. Fox." It was a droopy sort of greeting, followed by a further shrug into the pillows.

He found her buried in a pile of pillows and cushions, which was actually sort of endearing. Celsus made his way over towards her, careful not to tread on anything important in the process, and knelt down beside Peklo, a wide smile on his face as he reached out to take her hand in greeting. Bells chimed, the gold tokens on his outfit clinking together.
"It's been a while, little bird!" he said brightly. "What brings you here on this lovely day?"

She quickly righted herself as Celsus approached, making a seat on the pillows for him. He offered her a hand, instead, and she rose with his assistance.
"I w-w-was wondering if um ... maybe you c-could train me if-if you aren't too busy or anything um .... sorry ..." Her voice trailed off and she buried herself in his side like a child to their parent. "I would appreciate it very much."

He smiled winningly at her, Celsus ducking his head to peck a kiss to the back of Peklo's hand. "I would be quite honored to train you, if that's what you want!" he said brightly, and then let go, unfolding his long legs to stand back up. He offered Peklo a hand, fingers outstretched towards her.
"Shall we begin then?"

Peklo frowned the frowniest frown. Celsus was being too nice. Kissing her hand? Oh no. No no no.
"Y-Yes please!" she squeaked out, taking his bigger hand gently in her own. One thing she was glad of was that Celsus' kindness had been tested again and again, and she found that she could trust him. He was probably the closest thing she had to a friend, and in saying that was very, very sad.
She followed him towards the door of her wonder, and asked, "Where shall we go to f-f-f-fight?" Even the word for brawling felt strange and foreign on her tongue.
