Okay, that was weird...

Cinnabar lifted her head and turned her face into the cold breeze over the rooftops, the motion so similar to a hunter scenting prey that anyone watching might have found it creepy. She could feel something, something very strong, but also very different from anything she had ever felt before. It glowed on her internal radar, making it as some kind of power signature, though she had no idea what gave off energy like that. The dark-haired woman was glad she had worked on the ability to sense signatures, but it was never enough... her training always seemed to leave her one step behind, struggling to stand up to the situation, like this time.

Making up her mind in an instant, she straightened her toned body like a snake uncoiling and started off towards the energy, her steps a sharp snap against the concrete and tar. It was probably a bad idea to confront something so strong, since that usually meant a more powerful being, but she had never been one to hold back when she wanted something. And right now? She wanted to know what had her radar in such a tizzy. At least she could justify it a little as then being able to recognize it if she sensed it again... but that would be poor consolation if she ended up dead. The lieutenant would just have to be careful... yes. Perfect plan, such as it was.

Jumping onto the ledge of the roof in her leather and d-rings, Cinnabar crouched smoothly and looked down, her red eyes narrowing to search for the source of the large signature. It wasn't a senshi, it didn't feel like Thraen, and it wasn't Chaos... she knew the feel of that. So what was it?

"Ooh!" The sensation of a Negaverse officer entering the extent of her radar made the cat woman slouching on her perch perk right up and sit up straight with a squeal.

"Hello!" She shouted before she could even locate Cinnabar with her eyes, but she was frantically looking around with her ears standing at attention.

"I hope you're not in the mood to kill me, because I am really excited," She called out, and went ahead and left out the part that she was excited because she didn't think a lieutenant could actually kill her. Unless she snuck up behind her and shoved her off the rooftop, maybe. That would be a dirty trick.

Either way, she hopped up to her bare feet with some delicate jingling from the bangles on her her wrists and ankles and waved her arms like a flag down signal.

"Hi! My name is Zirconia and I would like to chat!"

Real smooth. Well, she thought it was smooth, and totally not off putting or suspicious in any way.

Needless to say, Cinnabar had not been expecting what she found when her eyes finally located the source of the power.

Straightening up, the lieutenant frowned as she swept her eyes over a woman with purple hair and an odd dress, snagging for a moment on ears that perked out of the mass of hair. She very nearly dismissed them as nekomimi, but something tugged at her brain to not over look them so lightly.

The sudden babble of words was almost as off putting as the sight of the speaker, but Cinnabar liked to pride herself on her ability to roll with different situations and become only more focused under pressure. Brushing aside what was bothering her, she faced what she could process, and that was that someone who was not on her 'team' was greeting her with a lot more enthusiasm than she would have expected.

"Well. Nice to meet you, I suppose. My name is Lieutenant Cinnabar." The dark haired woman said finally, her hands finding their way to her rounded hips. Her red nails were a bright contrast to the black leather, but as she was not planning any sort of combat just now... she left them on. They looked kind of cool, even if they were less than functional.

"I have no idea what you are." She admitted as she tilted her head, feeling the mass of her ponytail slide over her back. "If you'd like to chat, maybe you should start by explaining why you don't feel like anything I've seen before."

Immediately seeing the lieutenant, the Mauvian folded her hands behind her back tightly. It was a sure sign she was repressing an offhanded comment that she didn't think she should make. In this case, all of the innuendo and bondage jokes.

All of them.

"I'm a guardian cat. I'm sure you've seen the corrupted ones of the Negaverse," She said with a shrug of her bare shoulders as her tail swished back and forth behind her.

"I feel different because I'm not a Negaverse cat, or a White Moon cat. I am, I'm afraid, temporally displaced between universes and time streams. There's more to life than Chaos and Order," She babbled and then leaned forward, winking flirtatiously as the cautious Negaverser. "I promise I'm not your enemy."

Cinnabar's black eyebrows rose on her smooth forehead as she listened, looking this stranger over again from ears to toes. Bare toes. The hell was she doing out in the middle of winter without shoes on? For that matter, she didn't have sleeves AND her legs were bare. The oddness of that was enough to distract her for a long moment before she forcibly pulled herself back to the situation at hand.

Taking a step and jumping, Cinnabar landed on the same roof top, stopping a comfortable distance away. Her senses still told her this girl was strange... she knew what Khayman felt like, and this Zirconia felt nothing like him.

"You're a... time lord cat woman?" The lieutenant said finally, looking skeptical. Hey... she watched TV. She was allowed to like a certain show from the UK. That aside... that look she was getting was going a ways towards calming some of her suspicions. Enemies who were going to attempt to shiv you didn't normally give you flirtatious looks. Prey might, though, if they were trying to throw you off the track... but where did Zirconia fall?

"I think I might need to save that judgement for later... but in the mean time, you said you wanted to chat, and that you were excited. Was there something in particular you called me over here for? Surely it was not just to enjoy my tight bod and darkly good looks." The daytime bounty hunter couldn't help teasing a little back. She certainly wasn't one to over look a pretty girl.

"Psh, for later," The Mauvian snarked with an eye roll and held out her arms for display. "I don't seek to harm you, lieutenant. Chaos is no direct enemy of mine unless you're a pathetic imitator walking through mirrors and calling yourself 'DMC'. Which I don't think you are, considering the..."

Her eyes trailed up and down before an exaggerated and obviously teasing eyebrow waggle punctuated her finished sentence, "Uniform."

She dropped her hands and folded them behind her again, resting her arms in the small of her back.

"I index and catalog the strange anomalies of the universe. Negaverse officers and their Order counterparts. It's nothing dangerous or anything, I just have questions."

That was a curious statement. DMC? What did she have against the Negavers' former allies? Not that Ariel had any warmth for them either, but still.

The dark haired woman pushed her hip out as she stood with her hands on her hips, enjoying the playful attention to her uniform. She was rather happy with the way things had fallen out in that department. Not everyone got something as functional.

A dark eyebrow arched and Ariel made a bit of a face, her long nose wrinkling.

"Catalog? Are you some kind of scientist? Sounds boring." She said as she reached up to brush her hair back from her face. "I guess fire away then. I can think of lots of things to do that are far more fun than standing around being interrogated." Though she winked as she said it, the lieutenant was telling the truth. Talk was boring... action was far more entertaining.

"Some kind of scientist! You could say. Probably," She babbled and shrugged her shoulders with a flippant laugh. "There's no Negaverse in my universe, you're a very novel curiosity!"

She certainly didn't think it was a boring. But then, she often had near death experiences for her harassment of higher and more unstable servants of Chaos.

Still, when she reached down to the perch she was sitting on to pick up a camera and snap a picture, she stopped, pondered, and frowned. Complete with matching emotion ranges displayed by the ears on her head.

"...What sort of things?" Admittedly for all of her playing she had a total brainless moment. She was too used to being hunted and attacked and had a sudden and paranoid suspicion this is what the officer was leading up to after having teased her with promises of an interview.

"In your universe? I wasn't aware there were others." Cinnabar laughed. Granted... when she thought about it, senshi were said to be from other planets. If there were magical girls on other planets, claiming you were from another universe wasn't that far of a stretch. Maybe. She still found it kinda hard to believe though.

Hearing the click of a camera, the lieutenant blinked and refocused on Zirconia, a frown pulling her brows together.

"Hey now, wait a minute..." She said as she snaked a hand out to snag the camera. "What's with the picture taking? That for your catalog? Pictures of someone who looks this good doesn't come cheap, you know..."

Ha, that was an idea. Maybe she could have fun with this 'index' and 'catalog' thing after all. "Oh, don't worry. The things I'm thinking of only hurt if you're doing it wrong... or very right." The tall woman teased, winking.

"There's at least one other, where do you think the power to walk through mirrors was stolen from? Obviously not this upside down, half dead universe," She said with a lax shrug and not much urgency. Until her camera was grabbed from her hands.

"Ah! Hey!"

Honestly this happened so many times it was a wonder in itself she didn't just prepare for such action at this point. "Well, yes it's for my catalog, I need an image to go with your file."

She raised one eyebrow and smirked at the teasing and the wink, rather than show too much outward concern for her camera. She shifted down to fully feline and with agile flair, closed the distance between them and circled around to the back of the nega before shapeshifting again and resting her bare arms over the tall woman's shoulders, tail swishing behind her.

"I'm just a simple alleycat, I have nothing to pay you with except information, but I promise I'm harmless! And will not use your photo for any nefarious purposes," She half whined and half purred while making a sneaky reach for the camera.

Walk through mirrors huh? Apparently, Cinnabar was not getting the right sort of information, because that was news to her. Granted, the flunky that had been assigned as her captain had been ineffectual at best in teaching the fiery lieutenant anything, or even getting her to do anything he told her to do... so maybe it was her own fault she had so little information about what was going on.

Cinnabar smirked as she kept the camera out of reach, still trying to decide how comfortable she was with her picture in someone's files. It could very well be perfectly harmless, BUT she knew from experience that being on the grid made it so much easier for someone hunting you to find you. She'd used that to her advantage more times than she could count...

But those thoughts were fast derailed when the woman became a cat and then suddenly bare arms were over her shoulders and a nicely curved body was against her back. Thoughts about catalogs and files and crazy transformations were tossed out the window in favor of a revving libido and Cin drew in a deep breath. An unintentional relaxation of her arm allowed the snatch of the camera and it brought her back to the present, helping her shake off the distraction.

The lieutenant ducked out of the draping hold and spun to face the cat-girl, her hands on her leather-clad hips. It was probably not a good idea to make advances towards a girl who could turn into a cat at will, especially when her alliance was questionable. No matter how appealing she was...

"Well then, pay me in information. Tell me more about this walking through mirrors thing. And... do you know anything about a male senshi with long blonde hair and orange eyes? Flowers in his hair and draped in green and blue? I think his name was Thraen." The idea had been a bit spur of the moment, but it would be worth it if she gained some small bit of knowledge. The flower prince... she'd been so close to taking him down and the indignity of being caught by his magic... there would be a lot she would trade for the chance of facing him again and paying him back for the bruises on her throat.

"Walking through mirrors?" The question was incredulous and almost childish in tone as the cat girl angled the camera around to ensure it was fully unharmed before she looked back up to the Negaverser, fluffy ears twitching on her head.

"I thought the Negaverse was pretty tight with the Dark Mirror Court. I know the alliance is dissolved but if I recall correctly many of the higher ups like their pet senshi. Where do you think the mirror part comes from?"

She held up the camera lens in a cheeky threat to snap a picture, but didn't. She could appreciate a good information trade and she hadn't answered all of Cin's questions yet. By some level of strange guardian cat honor, she had concluded she didn't earn her photo yet.

"Mirror magic, it's a thing they stole from the Black Moon Court. They can move through mirrors like doors and talk through reflective surfaces. And the Black Moon court come from a universe where the moon is... well, black."

The question about Thraen drew a response, though. It was more like a surprise and then she quickly clammed up. But realizing she had, and in an effort to brush off that reaction, she casually went back to fiddling with the camera.

"Oh, Threan? What did you want to know about him?"

A gleam of something almost like jealousy flitted through Cinnabar's eyes, but it was quickly gone. Being able to move through mirrors was a useful ability... there were a thousand things she could think of to do with it, if she had had access to such a power. As it was, she had to wait for her new rank before she'd be able to teleport.

"In case you haven't noticed, I'm rather new. I was... recruited after the alliance was dissolved, so I have never had the opportunity to meet one of these Dark Mirror Senshi." The tall woman said as she waved a hand dismissively. "I've also been rather busy with things that don't involve pouring through the mountains of information the Negaverse has on file. I'm sure there are bound to be a lot of things I don't know about."

Red eyes sharpened at that point and Cin felt a bit of a smile tug at her lips. The questions from Zirconia were a telltale sign that she knew exactly who the lieutenant was talking about, and for whatever reason, was reluctant to share. She'd seen this same reaction a hundred times over her various man hunts... if she hadn't cared, the information probably would have been offered up right away, rather than being stalled like this. Friends, maybe? That made this unsteady ground, but Cinnabar could make her steps light when she needed to.

"I met him once and I would like to meet him again." She said, reaching up to run her fingers through her long, black ponytail. Play the part of the uninterested... as though it were of no consequence. If Zirconia wanted that picture, she'd have to share what she knew, but there was no need to push it just yet. "I'd like to know more about what his magic does, and what areas he likes to patrol in. I'd be willing to give you the special 'insider' information about me in return... Any question you want to ask, I'll answer, truthfully. Well... except maybe my civilian name."

Cin winked as she grinned. "You're cute, but that's need to know only."

“Considering General Zinkenite’s commands I doubt they have the Dark Mirror Court’s truths on file,” The Mauvian said with a cheeky grin and roll of her shoulders. “Friends, allies, no one wants to admit they are thieves and weaker magic users than the court they’re trying to imitate. No, I’m sure there’s nothing but flattery in their pages. And certainly no mention of me. Yet here I am,” She finished with a pose eking showmanship and flaunting as she raised one arm in the air, presenting her simple existence.

“If you’d like a trip through a mirror… I can take you.” The offer was left to linger. She could zone in on the careful way Cinnabar had phrased her questions about Thraen. Maybe it was paranoia, or projection, even. But she had been on the opposite ends of conversations like this before, and she had a niggling feeling their motives weren’t so different.

“I’m afraid I don’t know much about his routine. I’ve only met him once, and I didn’t interview him because he’s not a knight or a Negaverse officer, so I had no need for his statistics. I only know he’s an intellectual who is useful for good conversation.”

The lieutenant rolled her shoulders, shrugging off the talk about files full of lies. What did she really care, in the end? She did what she was told when she had to and the rest of the time, she pursued her own enjoyment of the powers she possessed now. All that really mattered was that she was pointed in the right direction when she threw her punches and that she climbed the ladder as quickly as possible. Staying a lieutenant for any length of time was nearly intolerable to think about and she tried very hard not to.

"If that's all you know about him, then that really doesn't earn you anything from me, sorry. I'd ask you to take me through a mirror to wherever he is, but I get the feeling you wouldn't care for that." Oh well. She could find her information else where. Man-hunts were an everyday business for her, after all, something like this would just be a little extra challenge. She was almost looking forward to it, actually.

"Mmm... I could maybe think of something else to trade though." Cinnabar said as an idea occurred to her and her lips curled in a hint of anticipation. Stalking closer to the cat girl, hands braced on her hips, the tall woman leaned in. "I have an address and a description of a guy I'm looking for. No worries, I'm positive he's just a civilian. Take me to him, bring me back, and I'll answer whatever questions you have."

It wasn't the information she truly wanted, but this idea suited her just fine. It was a rare opportunity and she would seize the chance.
