Tohru sighed as he crouched down next to a thick, green bush. He hadn't known such things existed at all on Eowyn, let alone even farther from the shore than where he lived. Even so, he was thankful for it. The plump, juicy black berries from this bush meant he had an alternative to hunting and slaying adorable, fluffy uruus. Kasen would probably be disappointed when all he saw in Tohru's pack was vegetation, but... Maybe his older brother wouldn't send him out again like that? The little Kiandri really didn't want to be counted on to kill anything... He sighed softly. If Kasen had come for him just a tiny bit earlier, maybe he could've lived the quiet and peaceful life of a gardener. Oh well. He really should stop thinking of it. What's done is done. He couldn't go back now. He was officially stuck as a violent, lightning-slinging Dovaa forever.

He plucked another berry from the bush, then looked into his pack. It wasn't much... Certainly not enough to even give Kasen a full belly. But as Tohru inspected the bush, all that remained were unripened or burst berries. Certainly not good for eating. He slowly rose to his feet with a soft sigh. "Tennor?" He called out. "I think it's time we head off. Are you ready? Where are you?" He wasn't anywhere in sight, but then, such a tiny little dragon could easily be lost to him.

Tohru heard a quiet trill as a sleek white head poked from beneath the push. His pretty, silvery scales were marred around his muzzle by a smear of dark, purpley juice. The boy giggled softly and leaned down to pluck the little Fae up, holding him in his arms like an infant, and wiped the juices away. Tennor then scrambled up his chest and around his shoulders before coming to light on the top of his head.

He reached up to give his Fae companion a tiny pat on the head before hefting his bag over his shoulder and heading off. It would probably be pitch black before he reached home. He didn't want Kasen to worry. And hopefully... These berries were actually edible. Tennor seemed okay. But he was a Fae Dragon. Surely his system was much stronger than the average Magescian's. But the little gardener had followed all the poison rules he'd learned while playing with plants in the Celestial Plane! Leaves of three, let it be! Hairy vine? No friend of mine! Berries white, danger in sight! Red leaflets in spring are a dangerous thing. Side leaflets like mittens will itch like the dickens! Berries of red will soon be dead! These berries had been black and growing on a bush, rather than a vine. No spines, stars, or prickles that Tohru had noticed. And even the leaves had been simple and sleek. Still, he should probably taste one himself before letting Kasen eat them... But there'd be time for that later! For now, he needed to scurry home before the sun fully set!

~~~
He knew he should be nearing his home soon. The sun had died across the horizon and the sky was an inky black. Tohru would've found the darkness comforting, if he was only a tad more familiar with the area. Alas, he wasn't. But off in the distance, he could see the light of the port city shining. It wouldn't be long now! He bustled on ahead for a few steps, until the sound of rapidly flapping wings caught his attention. The Kiandri turned his gaze up toward the sound, squinting into the blackness. More than once, he thought he saw movement from the corner of his eye, but it was hard to tell if anything was happening. The stars hadn't come out yet, so there really was nothing to see by...
Hesitantly, he turned back to his path. Nothing would happen if he just stood there. May as well continue on. But then something brushed him before being gone again. Tohru froze and flapped his arm out to the side, but touched nothing. He started to walk again, until something outright crashed into him, nearly knocking him over. He knew he hadn't imagined that, so, he screamed. And ran. The sound of wings grew stronger, and he continually felt something brush his arms and the top of his head. He flailed and shrieked, and when he flung his arm up, he suddenly felt it sting. He knew something was near him, but for some reason, he hadn't thought it would hurt.
The surprise was enough to coax a spark from him, sending a tingling down his arms and emitting a quick burst of dull light. Just enough for Tohru to make out three strange flying creatures flapping around him. The jolt reached out to the three of them, and with a high chattering, they spasmed briefly before beating their wings and heading off in the opposite direction. Admittedly, Tohru was a bit confused. He must've shocked them on accident... The poor creatures. His arm still stung a bit, but it wasn't wet or sticky with blood, so one of the creatures must've just smacked it with its wing. The boy whimpered and rubbed at his skin. It was scary! He wanted to hurry up and be home! He bustled along quickly, managing to make it to his door without any further incidents. Now he only had Kasen to deal with... Hopefully this would go over well enough...
