With a shudder, the transport landed, the ramp dropping to reveal their Earth, obviously dying. The bay was filled with people both uniformed and survivor, the survivors milling about. The Marine Squad Leader started breaking people up into groups.

"And...you seven."

Edgar, little Batman, Falk, Rose, Kiana, Gavin, and Amarissa ended up in the same group. Before the Marine could speak again, another transport roared through the forcefield and landed, survivors spilling out of the ramp. The entire shuttle bay was chaotic, but the Marines were doing their best to keep everyone together.

"You seven, you're group One. There a lift over there. Step in and it'll take you to sickbay. Is already been programmed once seven people are inside, so you won't need to say anything or hit any controls."

At the lift door, a burly Hispanic Marine was collecting weapons, recording owner information so they could retrieve them if needed.

The shuttle ride was short, and the tension almost palpable as they flew up and up, taking them to a destination they knew nothing about, that had only been spoken if by another, with no ability to see where they were actually going, or leaving, or anything in between. Leaving them totally in the dark about their situation, which, even if some didn't seem to mind, was weighing a bit on Gavin, leaving him watching tensely as the shuttle continued to ascend, only untensing as they touched down and the back started opening. It was hectic outside the shuttle as they were taken off, filled with a bunch of people in the raggedly serviceable clothes that marked to entire wasteland. With resources like water and cleaning supplies being difficult to locate now, many people had very similar clothes, the sort that didn't retain too much grit, were very sturdy, and lasted for a long time through even the majorly adverse situations. They looked nothing like the armored Marines or other uniformed personnel. And of course, the view of space and their desolated brown planet out the window drew all eyes. Gavin turned away from it though, heading instead towards the indicated elevator after only a moment of staring. That backed everything up really, so much had been proven true, all they had now was to confirm conditions.

So instead he went towards the elevator with the others, lagging a bit behind when the marine stopped him to ask for weapons, seeing as he'd been pretty heavily equipped. He hadn't stopped by his living space before, so he still had all his wasteland scavenging equipment. This manifested itself as the assault rifle, him pulling out and flicking on the safety for the handgun while it was still pointed at the floor before giving it to the man, a knife kept at his hip, and a smaller knife concealed inside a boot. Uncomfortable, annoying and irritating to his skin and him to wear, and he'd never actually needed it, but he'd preferred caution. He chuckled a bit as he thought for a moment before nodding.

"Yeah, that's everything."

He just sort of said it out loud so the Marine would stop eying him, expecting him to produce something else. Of course he was being given the once over to check for any other concealed weapons, but seeing as he didn't have any but expected it, he didn't mind. At least the man didn't insist on searching him, instead letting him go on in, just after Amarissa who at least had to give up her own gun and knife, and any other goodies she had on her. After all, these guys could probably smell a hidden weapon from fifty meters away. Then he stepped inside, setting up near a wall so he didn't block anything as he looked around the elevator, which looked only semi-similar to a normal one. This whole spaceship thing, that was going to take a LOT of getting used too.

Little Batman

Although JT had been concerned at first about this whole mysterious shuttle thing and people running everywhere, once he realized how awesome this space ship was, he lost any fear. It was simply replaced by sheer excitement. He had just recently been dubbed Batman and now he got to go on a spaceship?! Life just really couldn't get any better. He stuck close by Eddie and did as his older brother instructed, but he was bubbling with enthusiasm the whole time. He was pointing out all the cool weapons and shiny armor, asking questions about what things did and why they were necessary. He was mostly just rambling things off to himself, but he could tell Eddie was doing his best to answer any way he could. JT was just a bundle of curiosity, unlike a lot of the adults, who seemed to be afraid or wary.

Once the transport landed and they were allowed off of it, then sorted into groups, JT was interrupted from his constant stream of questions that bounced in his head by his hair being ruffled once again. He looked up to see suit man ruffling his hair, asking how cool it was to be in a spaceship. "This is so exciting! I can't believe it... first I get to be batman and now this. So many adventures that me and teddy are going to have!" he bursted, holding his teddy up triumphantly in the air. He grinned and giggled before spinning around and hugging his brothers leg, obviously overwhelmed with excitement about everything that was going on. Little Batman didn't really remember much about how the earth was before it was a wasteland, so even though this was strange and different, it was also the most magnificent thing he'd ever seen.
