Hannah sat just inside the front door near the bleachers where some people sat, struggling to put on their rental skates, waiting patiently for Dominic to arrive. The building itself was rather chilly - as it should be, this was an ice rink after all.

She had arrived about fifteen minutes early more so because if she wanted a ride she had to leave sooner rather than later as her mother had errands to run. The bus was always an option but why forfeit the warmth of heated seats? Because it makes being in here just that much colder she thought with a smirk on her face. Though she knew once the two of them got their skates and started moving it would be okay.

Hugging her fleece white coat tighter around her body she watched as people glided across the ice. Some attempted various tricks while others gossiped to their friends or, as she very well may be doing today, held onto the wall. It had honestly been years since she last went to an ice rink which made her confidence to remain upright falter. "Lord help me"

Dominic kind of had mixed feelings about riding his bicycle in cold weather. On the one hand, the wind facilitated the numbing of his face; on the other, once he finished he found his body a little warmer for the exercise. Except, of course, for his face. Still, the teen had felt more like biking than riding around on his motorcycle, and so he biked his way over to the local ice rink where he and Hannah made plans to hang out that day. Ice skating wasn't exactly his thing, but he'd tried it a few times and was kind of...okay at it. At least, he wasn't falling all over the place anymore.

Upon arriving he went and secured his bike at an empty bike rack before heading inside, renting a pair of skates and heading for the bleachers. Dom glanced around for a bit before finally spotting Hannah, though he didn't wave or anything. She was focused on the ice, which was good since they'd be on it all morning. All day, even, until she got the hang of skating. The teen doubted he was the best of teachers, but he'd certainly try! That had to count for something.... Even if they did wind up sliding around on theirs bottoms than gliding along on their skates though, at the very least he'd do his best to make sure they had a good time.

His lips curved into a smirk of sorts as he came up behind her, catching her little plea for help to a deity he vaguely believed in. "Well, I think 'Dominic' suits me better, but I'll be helping you out either way." The teen took a seat and chuckled, then proceeded to put on his skates. "Kidding. 'Morning. Bit early, aren't you?" he said while slipping his right foot into the left skate. "Or am I late?"

So lost in watching people skate and the sound of the music, Hannah didn't even realize Dominic had arrived till he took a seat next to her. Dark blue eyes lit up "I can't say I've ever had a prayer answered quite that quick" she replied reaching out to wrap her arms around him in a hello hug. "But I guess you'll do" she teasingly added.

Releasing him from her automatic-Hannah-reaction-to-seeing-a-friend hug... she leaned over to untie her shoelace. "Don't worry you're on time! It was either have mom drop me off early or take the bus and arrive fifteen minutes late and have to walk four blocks just to get here After a brief struggle, her boots finally slid off, Setting them aside she pulled her rental skates out from under the bench, sliding her feet into the proper skate she was thankful for her mothers wise suggestion to wear two layers of socks instead of one - these weren't exactly the best quality figure skating rentals, the hokey ones on the other hand (though lacking the toe pick) seemed significantly more comfortable.

The already pre-existing smile turned into a full out grin when she glanced over at Dominic's skates. "Umm..." she paused briefly to try and suppress the giggles "You might wanna put your feet in the correct skate" she suggested before he started lacing them up just to realize how extremely uncomfortable the skates are especially when on the wrong foot.

The fact that he had trouble telling anyone about himself for whatever subconscious reason any shrink could toss at him for a couple hundred bucks per session (which, by the way, he was not planning on ever doing), Dominic was on the affectionate side of the friendship-contact scale. It was especially true with girls, though he was also pretty chummy with guys -- in a different way, but chummy all the same. The raven-haired teen gladly returned the hug, giving a bit of a squeeze before letting her go. He'd missed her! How long had she been gone again? A couple of years?

Dom snerked at her reply, then shrugged. "S'how I do," he said with a mock-smug smile flashing across his features. The teen opted to lace up after slipping into both skates, so he listened to her carefully explain her morning situation while slipping his left foot into the right skate and almost starting to secure the boots on. Though, he narrowed his eyes and tried to figure out why they felt so weird on...

Hannah had that figured out for him, and with a small "o"-shaped mouth the teen began to de-boot himself and replace them on the right feet. "That explains it," he said with furrowed brows, though a smile was still spread wide across his slightly reddened face. Whether that was because of the cold or because of the slight embarrassment of making such a stupid mistake, well. He wouldn't share.

Quickly going back to the early-or-late topic, and wanting to avoid a good bit of teasing if he could, Dominic started lacing up. "I could have picked you up, you know." He had an extra helmet and all for his motorcycle, so if she'd asked he would definitely have obliged. "I can drive now, got a shmancy license and all." The smug smile was back, and he sort of puffed his chest out a bit, more in a joking way than anything.

It really has been too long. A part of her felt that by returning to Destiny City it would be hard to reconnect with former friends especially since she failed to keep in contact with anyone outside of her raven haired childhood friend, but both Dom and Delilah had proved her wrong really quick. Like putting on a pair of comfortable slippers, it seemed so easy to slip back into her old life... minus the whole powering up, that was something she couldn't have expected.

Hannah tugged on the ends of the laces to ensure the skates were on tight. Tying the laces into a double knotted bow, she stuck the tail ends inside the boot so she didn't trip over them should they come undone while they were out on the ice, then pulled bottom of her pant leg down to cover the top of the skate.

Raising her eyebrows in a mock shock she looked over at Dominic waiting patiently for him to finish lacing up "You mean they actually deemed you safe enough to let you on the road" she jested taking the opportunity to poke him in the side when he sat up all proud of himself "I'm just teasing, I have no doubt you're a safe driver. Remind me later and I'll give you my new address kay?"

With that said she stood up, thankful for the rubber flooring to help keep her balanced for the time being "Shall we?"

"Uh, yeah," the teen retorted, his puffed chest deflating slightly at her poke. "It's been almost a year and I've yet to get a ticket, so I think I'm doin' alright." Dominic grinned at that and finished securing his skates, tying it in a double-knot fashion similar to how Hannah had done hers up, listening and eventually nodding at mention of pestering her for her new address later. His phone was still functioning -- probably something of a miracle considering he'd already saved it more than half a dozen times since he bought it how many weeks ago -- so he could add that to her contact info and stuff. Woo, convenient smart phone!

Dom stood up after her, smirking slightly at their height difference. Being around a particular someone else had made him a little insecure about it, so this was kinda nice. Two years ago the difference hadn't been as obvious, but apparently he'd done a good bit of growing since then. Not that he'd be mean about it or anything. "Alright, Shorty, c'mon." Okay...well, maybe he'd be a little mean about it, but his smile was a telling sign that it was the affectionate sort of mean. He really didn't have all that much on her anyway, especially now that they were in skates.

The teen began to hobble toward the rink and, once he'd reached the edge, waited patiently for his company to catch up to him. "So you've never done this before, right?" he called, brows knit together as he tried to remember if that was what she'd said while they made plans to hang out. The conversation was a little hazy since a project had most of his attention at the time, so...

Anyway, it'd been a while since he last visited the rink, so on top of having barely any rudimentary skills, he'd also have to brush up a bit on the pointers that he'd been given back when he was still slipping falling all over the place. Hm...well, he could teach and brush at the same time, probably. ...hopefully.

With a smile on her face, Hannah rolled her eyes and hip bumped Dominic when she got close enough "That's for calling me short" she teased, half tempted to stick her tongue out like a kid. Had he of been on the ice already she wouldn't have dared bump him in fear that he would fall but since he was just in the entry way to the rink he totally had it coming.

"I've been ice skating a few times, only difference is I was a lot younger and closer to the ground. Honestly though, it was long enough ago I wouldn't really count it. It had been probably a good nine years since she last stepped into this year-long frozen wonderland. A time and age in which she spent the majority of the afternoon clinging to the wall or holding her parents hands. Hopefully it wouldn't come to that this time but it would be best to stay at least within reach should she need the vertical support.

Why she had chosen here of all places to hang out was beyond her. A part of her wanted to reason it out that they could use it as training of sorts - balance, agility, speed. But in actuality it just sounded like fun.

Like a cat tentatively touching the surface of water for the first time Hannah carefully stepped out onto the ice "And you? How long has it been since you went ice skating? she inquired reaching out to grab a hold of the wall for a moment to stead herself before she wiped out. Lord please help me stay upright today.

Dom laughed a little at the hip bump, not bothering to try and dodge it. Instead, he set a hand atop her head as she passed, sticking his tongue out a little as he did. "I call it as I sees it," the teen laughed, then followed her out onto the ice. Her explanation didn't do much to comfort him with regards to the idea of having to help her get her skating legs again, but as he usually did Dom smiled through it and gave a shrug, watching his friend carefully.

Judging by that, she'd probably be clinging to the wall for most of this little excursion. Either the wall or him, though if she chose to do the latter Dom had a feeling they'd both be eating quite a bit of ice. Still, it should be more fun despite whatever aches came afterward. He didn't see it as any sort of training, if he were to be honest, and more as something fun to do with an old friend. Maybe painful, but fun!

Her question got him to flash back to when he last came around to clear his head, and his eyes narrowed as he tried to remember. "Guess it's been a while," came an honest answer. Dom would have expanded if not for the fact that it looked like Hannah was about to slip, so he instinctively reached out to keep her from falling. His hand found the small of her back first, then when she steadied herself it moved to her shoulder.

"Probably a few weeks, if not a couple of months" Dom flashed a small, hopefully encouraging smile, as he continued with his answer. Maybe it'd help if they didn't focus too much on when they each wiped out.... "I can still keep my balance though, which is a good sign?"

Thankful not only for his nearness but quick reaction, Hannah's hand instinctually reached out to take hold of his hand. Wahh... ooof... Sorry! she blurted out, her expression read as a cross between a grimace and one of embarrassment. Had it not of been for him she would have bit the dust, or ice in this case, right then and there. On the plus side, however, should one or both of them wipe out she could always just power up later and cast her renews - mend any injuries or discomfort almost as if the incident hadn't happened at all. But that was definitely more of a worst case scenario if anything.

"Hopefully your balance is good enough for the both of us." If life was a cartoon she would no doubt have a sweat drop above her head right now.

Once she felt confident that her balance was stable enough standing there she finally managed to move her skates in a way that granted her forward moment, albit not quite the typical way by any means being the left foot right foot in lieu of the in out method that didn't require moments of gliding on one foot. "So tell me, what have you been up to these past few years? Other than getting your license." she inquired. Making use of the small talk to distract him away from her unorthodox way of skating.

Too bad his knight powers were...well, nonexistent. Dom wasn't all that sure about all this magic business yet. Sure, he'd seen it and stuff in action, but the fact that he couldn't do anything magic-related yet still made it an iffy subject. Never mind his "weapon" problem. Anyway, it seemed like Hannah managed to get herself balanced, and he let her go once he figured that she wouldn't go and slip again. Right away, at least.

"Let's hope," was all he said, grinning.

Dom watched her start to glide forward.. sort of glide? She was moving! In a forward motion, though somehow it looked a little off. He didn't know anything about more about skating than the average person, though, so if there was a term about how she was currently trying to skate then he didn't have a clue. The teen just smirked and followed after her easily, if a bit wobbly, but stayed a bit behind to make sure he could at least try and catch her in case she slipped again.

A shrug was the initial reply to her question. "Typical stuff, I guess. School, projects, the works. You know, before all this..." and he let his voice trail from there as a couple of kids skated past them. "You?" he then returned, not sure whether or not he should ask why she left in the first place.

"Aside from the move, just about everything else has been the same."except for the hospital 'visits' she mentally added. Mom and Dad tag-teamed homeschooled me for a while. since public school was out of the question She wanted to tell him, she really did. These half stories felt no different than if she'd been lying to him. But now that he knew about her 'other' self, she really didn't need to make another person worry about her the way Shangri-La and Phact did. Two was enough.

"You know, the typical stuff doesn't go away. The only thing that changes in the day to day coming's and going's is the secrets we keep to protect those we care about. Hannah turned her head to look back at him to offer him a smile but instead found herself turning towards the center of the rink. In a feeble attempt to not cut people off she dragged the toe pick in the ice to slow down and braced herself as she bent forward at the waist, arms stretched out in front of her to catch herself on the ice.

Having come to a complete stop she managed to straighten herself up again, "Sorry about that. Hannah looked up at Dom with a apologetic expression, embarrassment tinting her cheeks a light pink Any who," she began again all the while resuming her awkward skating style. "I find when things start to get too hard to handle, it's helpful to remember things from our day to day lives or from old memories when things were more simple. We as people haven't changed, you're still Dom, and I'm still Hannah. Hold onto to the 'typical stuff' even if it is mundane, for those seemingly small things are what help keep you grounded when things get overwhelming."

Instead of turning around again she reached her hand behind her for him to take a hold of "Never forget you have friends who will be there for you that understand and can relate to the new changes." Though her eyes remained focused on the ice ahead and avoiding small children, the smile on her face was for him.

It wasn't her intent to go off on a serious toned tangent. Listening to the sound of skates on ice making the shhhh sound when more experienced skaters went by, Hannah dwelled a bit on what she had said. To be completely honest It was unclear if she said all that for his benefit, or as a reminder for herself given more recent circumstances. Though if she had to take a guess she had suspected it was for both reasons

Dominic listened to her as they slowly made their way around the rink. It was a little weird, actually, thinking about using his mundane, everyday life as a means of grounding himself amidst the war that was apparently going on under every other regular civilian's nose. As someone who really didn't like the "normal" and the "mundane," it was just...strange. But probably really solid advice. At least, the way Hannah made it sound, it certainly seemed like it. He wasn't sure if he'd take it or not, but he appreciated it all the same.

As she spoke the teen simply followed after her lead, even if she was skating kinda funny, and took in her words quietly. She made a sort of stopping motion, and Dom maneuvered himself to a position to hopefully be of some help in case she did fall; thankfully it didn't come to that, and soon after she came to a full stop they were off again, and he resumed his position behind her. Despite the seriousness in her voice, the teen still managed a small smile, and when his friend offered her hand he took it gladly, giving it a slight squeeze before letting go and moving to skate beside her.

"Please," he started, his smile widening a smidge as he slung his arm over her shoulders. Whether or not that would help with steadying her as they kept on moving wasn't really much of a concern anymore, at least not with the current topic at hand. If they fell, they fell. Eat some ice, get a bruise or two, laugh. No big. "As if I'd forget any friends with all this going on. They're basically what's keeping me together," considering the shitstorm my dad's causing. Even if he kept that last bit to himself, the statement was true enough, and he gave Hannah a side-hug. Without knowing it, she'd given him a small bit of encouragement with her words, so bonus points for that.

Of course, he counted Hannah among his friends, even if they hadn't seen each other in a while. The thought caused the teen's smile to widen even more. "Which reminds me. As for you, little miss 'I'll go missing for two years and not keep in touch with people.' Now that you're back in town, do me a favor and remember to call me if you need help with anything, alright?"

"Hey now!" she retorted with a mock offended tone to her voice. "It's not that didn't try to keep in contact... I wrote letters, quite a few actually! They just never made it to the mail box." which was true. There were plenty of times she wrote letters to people but instead of actually mailing them she stored them in a small wooden box.

Sometimes when a person finds themselves in an incredibly emotional situation it helps to write out their feelings; to just let the words spill into the pen and flow over the paper. This was something she did frequently as means to either cope, or come to terms with her situation or to just vent. There were many dark days in those past two years, days she'd much rather forget; fearful that should her friends from her past find out they would either act awkward around her, become overbearing or turn away from her entirely. That they would stop seeing her as Hannah Carrington the happy-go-lucky periwinkle haired girl with a stubborn streak and was prone to mischief (with Delilah of course).

Poking Dom in the side with her index finger, Hannah's grin spread across her face an expression that said 'oh really... anything huh?' "Alright!" she agreed rather quickly. Though now that you mention it, I do have something you can help me with... You never did finish teaching me how to finish solving the Rubix Cube. I tried practicing but couldn't get past the top row. What do you say?" she asked taking her eyes off the horizon she dared a glance up at him.

And he didn't doubt that, evidenced by the smile that cracked his features as she mocked an insulted tone of voice. Dominic hadn't actually felt abandoned or anything; on the contrary, he'd gotten quite worried about the whole thing. Until, of course, he got used to not hearing from her. From there she crossed his mind every so often when he visited stores they'd been to together at one point, and then he'd sorely miss her for a spell before the feeling ebbed away again. "Happy" was a bit of an understatement when he found out she was finally back in town. "Yeah? Well. I'd like to read those with my own eyes sometime. As proof, y'know."

Of course, he wouldn't actually force her to hand over anything that she didn't want anyone to see. His own tone was playful in nature, and the teen even laughed a bit when she poked him in the side. Amusement turned to utter joy at mention of a Cube though -- he totally had been teaching her how to solve one before she up and left town for however long she'd been gone. "Right!" he started, excitement just oozing from his voice. Dom skated ahead a bit and turned around, putting both hands on her shoulders and slowing both of them to a stop.

"Deal! So deal! Once you get the hang of skating again, let's hit a cafe or something and I'll teach you! I've got one in my bag, as usual." Dom was beaming, as he usually did when thinking about puzzles and other such things. "You can't learn both of these at the same time, that's why." In truth, though, he was already itching to get off the ice.

"Hahaha" she laughed aloud with a slight nervous tone to her voice before allowing her facial expression to deadpan "No" she said bluntly a poor attempt at mimicking the iconic yet annoyingly viral Grumpy Cat meme. Reaching up with her left hand she scratched the back of her head and smiled once again"We'll see, I have to find them again"

Hannah watched as Dom left her side to skate ahead and turn around so he faced her. With each of his hand on her shoulders she felt her forward momentum slow down to a complete stop. Thankfully it seemed like other skaters were giving them a wide berth as they did laps around the ice - no doubt picking up on the fact she was lower than a novice on skates.

The excitement in Dominic's voice and expression was both endearing and infectious. Resting each of her hands on his inner elbows for a little extra support she couldn't help but laugh once again, happy to see him so excited about resuming her rubix lessons. "Sounds like a plan! I kind of figured you might have brought one with you. I can count the number of times on one hand that I've seen you without your cube physically in your hand. It was always amazing watching how fast you could solve it"
