there are three specific shiny pokemon that I have been working on trying to get a hold of
have done the breeding method(masuda method)
done pokeradar/ horde battling
and so far still no luck
look for these three:
.oddish
.hoppip
.sunkern
if anyone can help me figure out what I'm doing wrong I would greatly appreciate it

If you're doing those methods, you're not doing anything wrong. The chances are still terrible even at best, and you're always still at the mercy of the Random Number Gods. I've bred 3 shiny pokemon in less than 1000 eggs without using the Masuda method, although I wasn't trying to. I haven't seen a shiny pokemon in the wild since Pokemon Silver (the original, not soul silver). I would suggest persistence, and finding something good to watch while you do it. Keep in mind that at the very best, you're looking at something like a 1 in 2000+ chance.

I've never grinded for Shiny Pokemon personally, but your methods are good. I hear most Pokeradar chains of more than 40 usually yield a shiny, even multiples. My longest was 37, no dice. Takes persistence, that's for certain!
Word of the wise, if you plan on using it in battling, you should probably breed it. Get the IV's, egg moves you want for which set you plan on running, and use an Everstone for the correct nature, etc. All of the random Shinies I've caught (Lax Tentacool, Bold Scyther, Jolly Mr. Mime) had natures that hindered them.. That was a big disappointment for me, although it was still exciting to see and catch them. And any Pokemon is good enough for in-game use.

then I must be extremely lucky
so far in my pokemon y game I have obtained 5 shiny pokemon
each through the a different method
shiny Pokemon: (all female)
onyx: (3am)glittering cave(1st) random encounter (10/18/13)
poliwag: (3-4am)Pokemon village(2nd) hord battle (12/5/13)
fletchling: (7-8pm)route 3(3rd) random encounter (12/15/13)
flecthinder: (6-7pm)friend safari(4th) random encounter (1/6/14)
ralts: (5-6pm)day-care couple route 7(5th) masuda method (1/12/14)
charmander sad 3am)day-care couple Camphrier town(6th) masuda method(1/24/14)
gastly: (4-5pm) day-care couple Camphrier town(7th) masuda method (2/2/14)
not sure if there's some crazy pattern to my lucky streak
still haven't figured it out yet completely
