I'm not convinced yet it's for me.

And I have a lot of reasons.

For one, the Gaian memberbase is aging, there's no denying that. So many of us have grown up with the website as a fun place on the internet, but I still believe that the younger generation is what will continue to drive and shape the future of the community. Remove that, such as adding the age restriction, I think there won't be the same kind of loyalty and fond memories since members won't be allowed to join while they're younger and more in need of friends.

I don't know about you all, but I've heard so many friendship stories.

I don't think there should be an 18+ site created. It implies NSFW status and it would become more of a formalized reddit or 4chan really quickly.

It'd be a lot better for Gaia to just recognize its aging demographic, go ahead and make considerable changes to its Terms and then look to make a site overhaul with a year-long fundraiser using the Cash Shop. Bringing transparency to the userbase wouldn't bring sudden competitors like Gaia probably imagines it would. Gaia just needs an overhaul.

I'd start with the art. If Gaia's done one thing successful in the last decade... it's incredibly artistry. After that, I'd move to site function and design. Personally, I'd change everything almost the same way 2007-2008 changed everything on Gaia. Advanced layouts with potential ways to begin to post hashtags, reference tweets, connect more immersively with facebook, etc.

Lastly, I'd encourage Gaia to completely revamp its terms, completely change its moderating system and crews, and... accept bitcoin.

But that's just me.

Some parents worry about there kids being on the internet talking to older people...I know my mom was and I ended up dating and it got pretty serious.

Thats one thing that might be an issue but I haven't herd anything other then here about Gaia 18+

I've no interest in an 18+ Gaia, even though I'd be old enough to join.

1) The only thing that an adult site could offer that Gaia can't have is porn, and I'm not looking for that thank you very much.

2)It'll be run by the same people who run this site. And I don't have faith in our staff anymore, to say the least.

Hmm... I dunno. I've gotten so much stuff, outfits, experiences, and threads already here on Gaia that I don't think I'd bother with an version that appeared in the form of an 18+ site. After all, I don't really see how much would change, beyond an increase in inappropriate or crude content. Not that you can't already find that here, or on some other site online -_-

Yes, and as much as I would like to see a pinup of Flynn with all the jokes about booties and chests, I would agree with the terms that everyones saying that there wouldnt be much of a point on making a second GaiaOnline.

The staff seems to struggle with what they have going on here as it is. It will likely be no different if anyone ever made a "mature" Gaia site. Arent we all mature already? Even if they somehow did manage to make another one, how different will it be? How different can it be? A decade of this Gaia was something to commemorate with utmost importance, signifying how successful Gaia has been to us all. So if anyone went to make a second Gaia right off the hop, it just couldn't compete. Not by a long shot. GaiaOnline is the GaiaOnline to be with, and no other copy can possibly do the same justice as this site does now.

I will say this.

I already volunteered to help with forum moves/moderation on that site, if and when it happens.

I agree with you on this, I know some people will probably not because they've been on here for a long time but I have been too. They gotta update the site for the new comers or it will be left in the dust sense the online world is moving much more faster in my opinion. 3nodding I hope it's not a coding issue, like they want to start over with a new site because they don't want to deal with the old codes. I don't know much about stuff like that I'm just guessing. xd *flails* I wonder what the staff are thinking right now~ 3nodding heart

I would love to be a fly on the wall in Gaia's HQ.

More so now than ever.

What if they came up with an item transferring feature. You pay like 10 dollars and get all the items added to the new site..wouldn't be so bad.

I guess that wouldn't be so bad if I got all my stuff transferred, I want my gold to come with me too. redface

...you should be on the Gaia staff XD that's a really excellent idea.

I mean, I hope that they just revamp the site instead of choosing to make a new site entirely, but if they did make a new site it would be awesome if we could transfer over all the items that we have, because that would definitely be my biggest issue.
