She woke from her nap to a bright but crisp afternoon and remembered that she couldn't sleep the rest of the day away, much as she wanted to. No, today Stormy had promised herself that she'd begin working harder at Deus. Socializing. Building connections. Peopleing.
It was still depressing to see Nevada's bed empty nevertheless, like a little ice shard at her neck that hurt and surprised at first but soon melted away.
Getting dressed quickly, she made her way out of the dorms and towards the Death Department since, well, what better place to start? That was where her concentrations seemed to end up going anyway. She knew Gale had an office there now, so maybe it was time to visit . . .

Otto looked over his list of chores, checking off what he'd managed to accomplish so far. Cleaning the floors? Check. Cleaning the bathrooms? Check. Time for the windows! It was boring work. It had nothing to do with being a Death Hunter. But it was what Caelius had assigned himself and Gale. He had no choice. He kind of sucked at brain work anyway. The blond pulled back his growing mop of blond bangs into a clip. He usually used hats or hoods, but for cleaning this just made more sense. Pulling out some windex and a rang, he got to work, having to climb a chair to even reach the top.

The smell of cleanliness hit her as she entered the halls. Blinking owlishly, Stormy spotted a blond figure ahead and for a moment wondered what Gale was doing wiping windows--wait, except Gale didn't have that hair color anymore, not fully. She squinted and flipped through her list of names as she approached.
Okay it was an O, she remembered that much. O...scar? O...swald? O...z? Man, Oz would be a cool name.
"Otto!" she exclaimed suddenly and enthusiastically, pleased with herself. Finally starting to get names right! "Hi! What're you up to?"

Otto looked baffled to see Stormy. He was pretty sure that was Gale's girlfriend. His stare was a mix of a glare and a befuddled stupor. "....Cleaning." He replied with a smartass tone. "It's called work."

"Oh, well, um, yeah, there's that." A+ wording, Stormy, great job, gold star. "D'you want help?" she offered brightly nevertheless. "I need to get the layout of the place more anyway."
Pause.
". . . Wait, why are you cleaning again?" That sounded like a weird job to pass onto a full hunter.

Help? Help as in his long list of chores was shortened kind of help, or get the window cleaning done faster sort? Either or, really. "Sure, Knock yerself out." He offered, waving a hand at the bucket of cleaning supplies. "Cause that's what I was told to do it by Caelius. Day in n' out." He stopped for a moment, pulling a note pad from his jacket pocket and flinging it at Stormy. It had the following.. 5:30 am: Prepare 1 cup of Sumatra Dark Roast and one toasted bagel. 6:00 am: Make sure training fields are clear of debris 6:30 am: Complete assigned mission reports 7:00 am: Clear out garbage in the Death division lounges 7:30 am: Remind respective personnel of overdue mission reports 8:00 am: Vacuum the hallways between rooms 201B and 201F 8:30 am: Wipe down the glass corridors for the interrogation rooms. 9:00 am: Mop down-The list continued on until 10pm. "Gale does it too, I dunno if he told you." Unless he was telling her he was doing something actually important with his time. Hah! Cat's out of the bag now!

She stared at the list in abject horror. Not because it was a list of what basically amounted to basic trainee fetch work, though, no, there was something far worse than that.
5:30.
5:30 am.
5:30 am like really early in the morning.
Even without knowing about the Eva thing, Stormy was already filled with compassion and sympathy for Otto, and Gale by proxy by the sound of things. There wasn't even time for a nap in there.
"He didn't," she mumbled absentmindedly before fixing her face with a determined expression. "I'm gonna totally help you out, okay? We'll get this stuff done before the evening! Are the rest of these windows clean? I could take like this side of the hall if not . . . Or, or I could start the mopping!" It was obvious she was eager to get to work one way or another.

Helping. She wanted to help him. Then he could have some of the day to himself. He didn't ask her. She flung herself at the work. Otto had no reason to say no. "I... sure.. any of that's fine." he answered, bewildered.

Windows it was. With her game face on, she trotted to the supply closet to get her things. "Isn't it a little weird that he's making division assistants do this stuff, though?" Stormy asked on the way back, cloth and spray at the ready. "I though you guys would be more . . . I dunno. Active? Like more missions or training people for him."

"I gave up questioning his methods. Usually gets me in the infirmary." He answered with a twist in expression, continuing his cleaning regime. "Missions happen too. He throws trainees at me I'm supposed to let shadow me." To which he was always bitter of. He hated working with people. Hated having to babysit too. "Or maybe he just thinks we're kids."

"Maybe we're all kids," she observed with a little wry smile of her own. "And the leaders are all adults; they always know more, anyway. Means we should eavesdrop, get in the hidey holes and learn in secret~"
Although the idea of trying to sneak up on Caelius . . . Brr. No amount of Mist or Death training would prepare her for that.
"About the shadowing thing, though . . . Um. D'you mind if I come by every once in a while?" Stormy asked, looking over her shoulder hopefully as she worked. "That's actually why I'm here. I'm thinking of making Death more of my focus, so . . ."

Otto stared at her in almost horror. "Why would you want to?" He scoffed in disbelief. "This is like the worst division to want to work close to." He sighed, going back to cleaning the windows with lethargic energy. "I'm not good at teaching anyone stuff. They wanna saddle me with Lawr at some point, and some other people always ask me to help them. I just don't get why." He paused a moment, rolling his eyes. "You won't learn anythin' from me you can't learn on yer own."

It was funny: hanging around Gale so much gave her the impression that most of the people in Death were pretty serious about their work. That was partially why Stormy had been nervous to come in the first place. She almost laughed at Otto's scoffing in comparison.
"Sometimes you have to bite the bullet," she said with a sympathetic smile. "But I bet the reason they ask you for help is because they know you're good at what you do. Plus, you know, division assistant and all! That's a heavy title. If it makes you feel better, though, you don't have to act like a teacher or anything. Just know that I'm here to help with whatever."
And also friendship~

He tried to find flaws in her reasoning. They could have used trainees, but not, they made Gale and Otto do it. It didn't make sense. Otto messed up anything bigger than mopping a floor. Maybe this was a way to keep him out of trouble. "Wait... ain't you the chic who called me a Disney Princess for fainting?" He asked suddenly, glaring at Stormy. Yeaaah he remembered her.

The accusation made her pause her window washing, a genuinely thoughtful expression crossing her face. "Hmm . . ." Her head tilted. Think, think, think . . .
. . . Oh! "Ohhh, wait, you mean on the cruise?" Stormy grew sheepish. "I think I called you Elizabeth Swann, actually! Which is to say, I called you brave, determined, and clever. She pretended to faint to distract people while the pirates made their getaway. Also technically, I called you King of the Pirates, not a princess~" This was clearly a compliment!
