Telaar was thankful when they finally reached the location that the small herd would now call home. It was drastically different from the rocky mountains and cold air that she had grown up in, but she had taken a strong liking to sprawling out in the soft grass. The mountain mare turned in circles, taking in the surrounding area before turning her attention to her herd leader and his mate. Their foals were due any day now it seemed, and they showed no signs of slowing down or really taking it easy....despite what the mini mare with them bellowed at every chance she was given. Telaar flicked her ears as she watched and listened before her attention was drawn in another direction.
She swore she had heard something nearby, but from what she saw it was all open and empty. There wasn't another soul in sight within her range of vision. The mare glanced back once more at the small group, noting they were pre-occupied with themselves, and decided no one would notice her missing for a while. She turned and looked back out across the land and started off in a steady trot to go explore for a while.

The stallion nosed a bit of tall grass that matched the description he'd heard from an old mare. It had been months since the wanderer had crossed her path, but the lamenting mare was hard to forget. Apparently a foal had died soon after leaving off nursing, and she had thought that perhaps switch grass was to blame. Dami took a cautious n** and flicked an ear at the bitterness immediately. It was noted that Cerynei could eat the stuff just fine, but goats could not. Most were dissuaded by the flavor, if nothing else. Snorting in thought, he lifted his head and left the patch of grass for the open field proper.
He turned in a circle before looking at the switch grass again, debating how much he would have to eat to feel any effect, and of course he didn't know how much the foal had consumed, so there wasn't a reference. It was worth the stomach upset if he could figure out the answer to the riddle, even if he never crossed paths with that particular herd again. The more he knew, the more he could share, and the safer they'd all become. Hopefully.
Both ears swiveled as something pricked at his awareness. Something was coming? He stood still and looked towards the disturbance, but nothing came of it for several long moments. He didn't ignore his gut though, and something had piqued his sense. Just as he decided to move he became sure of it; hoof beats. Heading towards the rhythm he saw someone else across the field a ways and heading in his direction. He dipped his head in greeting but decided it best not to approach; didn't want to come across as hostile or perhaps barging in on territory belonging to her or her herd. Instead he simply observed and waited to see what she would do. Too little information to make a reasonable decision, he thought. Which brought him back to the issue with the grass, and his mind continued to circle the problem with curiosity.

The farther she got from the herd that had taken her in, the faster Telaar had started moving until she was thundering through the open plains before her in pure glee. She had never really had so much room to run at full tilt before making the whole experience quite refreshing.
The fluffy mare failed to notice the other soul picking at the grass, however. Her mind was lost in the freedom of running that she barreled right by him. It wasn't until she was several feet away that her hooves dug into the soft ground and whipped her head around to stare back at the strange looking stallion.
"Oh! I almost ran you over! Hello~! I'm sorry! What's your name?! I'm Telaar!" She yelled, the idea of moving closer not even crossing her mind.
